another huge UM fan
|4 days 8 hours ago||Have a suggestion. Let's start a crowdfunding project and||
pay for Jim's house. After all, Alabama boosters just paid for Saban's house.
|1 week 3 days ago||He is a good man -- similar to Hoke||
I would not want him here because I think he will face the same fate as Hoke. His name has been mentioned as a remote possibility and he is happy where he is.
My point and his point was that OSU is such a litmus test for our coach that it may give some coaches a pause. I think the same way that it may give some coaches a pause before taking a job at Auburn and how beating Alabama is the litmus test there.
|1 week 3 days ago||It was not a question of OSU being unbeatable||
The coach said that it will take a long time to develop the recruiting base while competing with the likes of MSU and PSU and to put together a team that can really compete with OSU. He questioned whether UM stakeholders will give the coach -- not named Harbaugh or Miles -- the time needed to accomplish this.
|1 week 3 days ago||Don't you think that losing to OSU||
did not accelerate Carr's retirement? I thought this coach had legitimate concerns with regard to the time that the new coach not named Harbaugh or Miles will be given so that to become really competitive with OSU make it to BIG Championship on a regular basis.
|1 week 3 days ago||It was partly fear.||
But also whether UM will be willing to wait 4-5 years for the team to be turned around and compete with OSU.
|1 week 3 days ago||As I said, this was a plan B coach||
So, this coach may not believe he can recruit at OSU level and does not feel UM will be very patient with the next coach unless he is a very big name: Harbaugh, Miles, Stoops, etc.

I would rank him top 5 of the coaches that UM should go after. Given his recruiting classes, he did very well. Nebraska will regret this decision.

That will make a lot of sense. Pat would be fool not to take it.

Illinois job will open up and he will go there. That could be a great program with the right coach.

DB had a huge ego and thought he was the smartest guy in the room. His performance at Domino's was poor as evidenced by the turn around in the company after his departure. Hackett turned around a poor performing company and left on good terms from Steel Case. He does not come across as someone with a huge ego and seems to know that he does not know enough. I am OK with him.

decals and get rid of this nonsense about legend jersey's. Award kids for plays on the field.

He looks like a viable candidate. I wonder if wants the job.
|7 weeks 5 days ago||This shows you how difficult it is to get||
into the championship game. We had 5 NBA caliber players and a terrific coach and still lost the game. It is just so tough to win 6 games in a row against good to great competition.
|7 weeks 5 days ago||We already have a coach who recruits top five||
and produces teams that are shit. No thank you. Let JB do what he does best -- win just win baby.
|7 weeks 6 days ago||Please stop this.||
Please stop this. It is just stupid to think that someone from UM will fly on UM plane to interview a coach in the middle of season. You all have heard of agents?
|8 weeks 1 day ago||Your view of what is important to most faculty is||
not correct. Many of them are not happy with the amount of money paid to coaches and many believe that big time football has a way of undermining the academic reputation of the school. I am a faculty at a school with a small-time football program. Any attempt by the admin to upgrade our football program and move to higher divisions has never received more than single digit support from the faculty council.
By the way, the faculty who told me that there is strong support for Hoke, is a season ticket holder and never misses a game. He thinks Hoke will turn it around.
|8 weeks 1 day ago||A lot of people on UM campus,||
especially faculty and admin people feel the same way. I mentioned this on another thread that a faculty who used to be on the atheltic advisery board and is still well connected told me that we should not be surprised to see Hoke back next year. He said unless he loses control of team and does something that would reflect poorly on school, he will have a lot of support for coming back next year.
|8 weeks 1 day ago||I meant "Next year" and not "next week"||
He could be around next year.
|8 weeks 1 day ago||Let me give some second hand bad news||
A former classmate of mine who is a faculty at UM and used to serve on athletic advisory board told this week that a terrible record may not be enough to lead to removal of Hoke at the end of this year. In other words, regardless of record, Hoke may be around next week. According to him, Hoke has strong support among Faculty and Admin people.
|8 weeks 1 day ago||Totally agree||
This star system was the start of the downfall of UM football. Bo or any other decent coach would not have gone for it. Terrible idea by Brandon.
|8 weeks 1 day ago||The problem was not Borgers||
It has been DG. It is sad, but Hoke is going to lose his job partly because he stuck with DG.
|8 weeks 5 days ago||Agreed. There is no evidence that Harbaugh or||
any other coach out there would not want to come to UM because of DB. If the issue is DB sitting in the film room, then the coach can negotiate that one out. He will have a 3-4 year contract and if he is successful, then he would not care if DB is the AD. This rumor that DB cannot hire Harbaugh for personal reasons, is nonsense.
|8 weeks 5 days ago||I mentioned this a few weeks ago||
and I was nearly crucified. Regardless of how we feel about Brandon, I think he has more incentive and perhaps more freedom to spend whatever it takes to hire a home run coach. Then he can say goodbye and leave.
|8 weeks 5 days ago||Too many constraints.||
Jim Tressel being one coach who does not meet most of these and was and will be successful. Up the road, Dantonio does not meet most of these and he has been succesful. I am pretty surprised that you think Harbaugh would meet most of these constraints -- he does not.
Years ago, I was talking to someone who worked for Bill Walsh -- one of the best coaches. He said what set him apart from other coaches was that he was very smart, as competitive as the next guy and excellent in reading people.
That is good enough for me.

This is pathetic. It has come to this -- talking about the good old days. Thank you Hoke and company.
|9 weeks 1 day ago||This is so hard to watch||
These teams -- FSU and ND -- are just so much better and faster than us. I'm depressed

Alabama now sucks on offense. Nuss was good after all. Now he sucks.
|10 weeks 1 day ago||Worst thing that could happen||
Worst thing that could happen is that we come back and barely win this game. DB will show up at the press conference and suddenly Hoke's job will become safe. I'm rooting for us to lose every game so there will be no doubt that Hoke and DB should be kicked out.
