Whether you pass a lot or a little, yards per attempt is a very good metric. Under 6 ypa is bad, full stop. If you're averaging 8 yards per reception you need to be hitting over 80% of your throws.
Small sample size, drops, blah blah blah. Under 6 ypa is not good. The question is, was there enough to the eye to suggest Orji could reasonably command over 6 ypa in the fall. And preferably 7. If not you have to look elsewhere for your starting QB.
Signing Prince was never a good idea. He was arguably the worst fielding 1st baseman in baseball when we got him. And off their career peak overweight players decline at twice the rate of non-overweight players.
I don't like saying that; my family raised a good chunk of the money that put grass on the LL fields he played on and I laid some of the sod myself.
This was always going to happen. Payton & Wilson clashed. Even if Wilson were young I'd prefer to have Payton, one of the premier offensive minds of the last generation.
Hell, he's the only guy to have gotten a useful coaching contribution from Joe Lombardi.
The Lions' biggest D need has been and remains *pure* CB's. Both the front line starters and depth guys. Mikey doesn't really fit the bill.
Though the last couple of years I have really come to respect just how good the consensus mocks are at projection. This mock is just one of a large group. The last consensus "Grinding" has is nearly a week old and Mikey isn't in their top 50. I highly doubt Mikey is going in the 1st round.
I pulled my son off the mound when as a 10-yo his coach had him start on Sunday after throwing 82 (5 innings, 8 K 3 BB 2R against 11-yos) on Saturday. That led to a week of emails and phone calls with the league president acting as a go-between.
I watched PJ Fleck's first spring game at Western. Was the most disorganized thing I'd ever seen. Meant precisely nothing in the grand scheme of things.
Kelce is yelling at one of the greatest coaches of all time. I rank him higher than Belichick. Kelce should have showed some maturity and ranted up and down the bench.
John Harbaugh is the NFL's most ruthless HC when it comes to handling assistants. You could be doing a good job and if John thinks he can do just a little better you are shitcanned. I'd take a hard look at Martindale.
I think Seth is right that the Amoeba is well-suited for beating good college QBs. The coach still has to be good at teaching & calling the scheme and also good at recruiting.
Jeez. So *that's* what happened to Joe Cullen. I'd forgotten all about him.
That incident occurred a time when lots of other little things were happening to the Lions. Like someone in the front office (Tom Lewand?) had some personal issues that became public too.
If I remember right, the night before the Minny election there was a 3-way debate carried on C-Span. Didn’t know a thing about Minny politics. Less than 10 minutes in I turned it off and went to go tell my wife Ventura was gonna be the next governor of Minnesota.
Brad Holmes is a loooooonnnnngg way from Jimmy Devellano. And the way he responded to criticism on draft weekend reveals some definite chinks in the armor.
Looking over Hurtt's work in Seattle its tough to be impressed. Seahawk D took a tumble the moment Hurtt took over. Some of the issues definitely can be laid at the front office. If Bobby Wagner is your leading tackler at age 33 that's on the GM.
Rush D really nosedived the last 2 years. Got to be careful judging this though. A lot of the better NFL D's in recent years have placed fewer defenders in the box, preferring to lean against the pass game. Frisco is an excellent example of this in 2023.
This is why I like to look at short yardage run D, where typically box defender count goes up. And Seattle has given up plenty of short yardage run TDs this past season.
It occurs to me that we will be getting a few new pictures around here in our weekly features. Anyone have a favorite shot of Coach SMASH for KFATAOTW?

So, Josiah Stewart's bitch gets drafted at 7?
Are you familiar with the SEC?

LaPorta's strength is his in-game speed. When corrected for position I believe he's in the 97th percentile league wide.
That is not Cade Stover.
And we re-signed Brock Wright.
If Brown is the starter the Buckeyes will not escape the regular season unscathed. The gap between him and Honda is vast.
John Thompson dodged Greg Kampe. John Calipari didn’t and paid the price.
Maybe John will run into Greg on the links this summer and Greg will apologize. I hope not.
I don't think "corruption" had anything to do with it.

Alstott was so good he made Jim Coletto look like a good offensive coach at Purdue.
Nice bit of instant karma for Jackson Blake there at the end. The cherry on top......
Oh yeah, if there are hockey teams I feel bad for its teams from the northeast.
If my son was a WR and RichRod came calling I'd turn on the sprinklers.
Too bad; he's really gonna miss out on the dynamic attack of.... <checks notes> ..... <doublechecks notes>.... Tim Lester.
It is my preference the new coach not be blind.
I remember all the housewives who had the paperback in the 70's.
I even got negged for mine.
No one seems to recognize the Shogun drops.
To reach the Japans it's best to sail thru Magellan's Pass.
Oh fer crissakes. Already? You can take the coach out of Wisky but you can't take the Wisky out of the coach.

My guess is Bert Convy!

Move the slider to 9:58.
Or a Marine, I'm told.
Craig remembers.
It's become clear we need to throw some of Stephen Ross' money at an effort to dig up Don Canham's body and try to clone him.

I've seen worse. Though that's not good.

Guess what? Hitters are better today too.
I prefer to call the team from Colorado the 'Lanche.
Well, in this case its the *hooker* who really has to rinse.
It was on a stream. Married to a CMU alum, it’s one of my husbandly duties to keep track of CMU & WMU football.
From an analytics nerd lens Sannes is definitely a sharp guy.

I do not understand this. Roman's specialty is the QB run game. He's not considered a great route designer.

There were some jokes in that vein at the time, yes.
The best Kitna moment was calling out OC Jim Colletto. During the game. While he was in formation.

Tonight I will be making a stew of sorts in Carl’s honor.

Now that Brian has talked about it, we need to start compiling a list of potential AD candidates.
Legendary game show host AND a ground-breaking defensive coordinator. Truly a Renaissance Man.
Look at banner, Michael.
