I'm not sure any of Minter/Elston/Clinkscale would be here now even if Harbaugh hadn't hired them to the Chargers.  They'd just be on some other NFL staff, like Jay Harbaugh is.  Minter was in line for a pro DC job regardless, and once Elston/Clinkscale were passed over for our DC job, it's not too surprising they moved on.

I'm not sure that's true. Elston and Clink are college football lifers. They're probably not getting NFL offers if it wasn't for Harbaugh. I guess an outside chance that Macdonald hires one of them, but I doubt it. This was their one chance for an NFL job and considering the quality of life between college and NFL coaches.....it's a no brainer for them to take their possibly one chance to jump to that level. JMO. If Harbaugh were still here, it's probably easier to massage egos with a veteran HC than first time one.

My guess is they are doing background checks and crossing the Ts and stuff.  Embarrassing for the program to announce a hiring and then have it fall through, or to be courting a coach and get turned down and make it look like you hired your 2nd or 3rd choice.  No harm in keeping things quiet until they are 100% sure they are hiring the coach.

I don't know a ton about either guy but Morgan's defenses at ULL were...fine, with them giving up 22 TDs to 13 picks at 7.2 ypa and generating 58 PDs while holding rushers to 3.9 ypc.  I'm honestly not sure how good Sun Belt offenses are and SP+ didn't love them defensively.  But as with Minter it's hard to tell how good a coach is with limited talent.  Adegoke is a solid position coach in the NFL and has college experience.  Both are young (I think Morgan is in his 30s while Adegoke is in his late 20s), and so shouldn't be against the grind of recruiting.

I really like the hires he's made (assuming the reports are true). Bumping up Campbell and Tress to replace Moore and Herbert were the right moves. No sense in going external for an OC, since Moore is an offensive guy himself. Hopefully Tress can replicate Herbert's mojo.

I like that he's continuing the trend of hiring younger guys with recruiting chops (especially since he brought in Wink as an elder statesman with stellar X and O bonafides).
