David Brandon is a clown

Here is David Brandon's list of accomplishments since becoming the AD:

1. Scheduled a night game (Hooray! What an idea!)

2. Played hockey outdoors  (Hooray! Only 10 years after MSU started the trend)

When Michigan fans reject the chance to play at Michigan (Zettel), it makes you wonder how easy it will be for an alum (Harbaugh)  who is already critical of how Michigan athletics operate to reject a job offer.

Then that means Harbaugh said

Then that means Harbaugh said no...time to bring in Brady Hoke.  Or wait a year, THEN fire Rodriguez, and bring in Hoke.

David Brandon is dangerously close to becoming a pariah.

Sam Webb is just another

Sam Webb is just another clown in the circus...he's on rinky dink radio, and a UM cheerleader on the Scout site.  He's fun if you want a pick me up, but if you want insight, knowledge or honesty, he's not the man to listen to.

Yeah, funny that people STILL

Yeah, funny that people STILL have a persecution complex when EVERYONE can see what a train wreck this is.  Jim Rome (TV and Radio), College Football Live, PTI, Around the Horn, Rittenberg, Rosenberg AND Josh Groban all think it was an abortion of a banquet.

But no, they're all just out to get Michigan.

A shame a coach felt he had

A shame a coach felt he had to plea to save his job in such a public manner.  Rodriguez decided he wasn't going to be Brandon's backup plan in case Harbaugh tells him to pound sand.

Rodriguez > Brandon

Amazing how revered an AD can be when inaction is his forte.  Dee Hart isn't impressed.

I had to read your post twice

I had to read your post twice to make sure I didn't miss any sarcasm.

Why would the media need to concoct a story against Rodriguez?

Horrible record? Check

NCAA sanctions? Check

Shady recruiting practices? Check

Defendent in multiple lawsuits (former employers, business partners, etc)? Check

A punchline for national media (not just sports related)? Check

What that has been reported is even in dispute?  What HASN'T actually been proven or admitted to?  Rodriguez is the turd in the punch bowl, and you've had too much to drink.

Yeah, Hayes has been "all in"

Yeah, Hayes has been "all in" for about a week now (because he didn't get enough attention at ND).

Big Ten title and Big Ten

Big Ten title and Big Ten Coach of the Year.  Also Scout.com's National Coach of the Year, with more to follow.

Are you really telling me you're happy with that speech?  Do you guys always sing songs at the football banquet?  You aren't worried that Brandon is crapping the bed? (See Beilein extension)

Considering that RichRod gave

Considering that RichRod gave that abortion of a speech, and then had the team sing Josh Groban songs that any video evidence of the evening has been destroyed.  I for one really don't need to see the football coach cry again.

You have got to be kidding!

You have got to be kidding!  He cried, he begged for his job, he had the crowd raise their hands and sing Josh Groban.

Yeah, he's a real inspiration.

It's obvious that RichRod is a clown, a clown that is in WAY over his head...the only question is whether David Brandon is in the same situation.

Who would have thought that Dee Hart decommitting wouldn't be the worst news of the day?

We all know what he's

We all know what he's thinking:  If I can get Harbaugh, everyone will get off my back.  If I can't get him, we're stuck with Rodriguez.

Make no mistake, by mid January, either Harbaugh will be the coach, or there will be a "leak' that Brandon tried to hire him.  There is no way Brandon is going to take ownership of the Rodriguez era...by retaining him after NCAA sanctions, that's exactly what he'd be doing.

It's transparent that the Beilein extension wouldn't have happened without approval from Brandon, despite him not officially being on the job yet...he knows he can't afford to put his own legacy in the hands of Rich Rodriguez.

Wow, an amazing amount of

Wow, an amazing amount of fail in the OP.  Possibly more fail than RichRod's tenure in Ann Arbor (which is obviously saying a lot).  Would the OP also cry if Kim Jong Ill is replaced in North Korea?

Well, if he has,  the

Well, if he has,  the "commitment" is a bit one-sided, but from what I've been told, the assurances have never come from Zettel himself., despite what those close to him hope for..it's also an open rumor that those close to him have given up on getting him to UM, and the main focus is now just keeping him away from MSU, which was working somewhat until PSU took a nose dive this year.  The kid knows what he wants, but some want to live his life for him.

I realize it would be

I realize it would be upsetting for people, but I'm not so cynical that I think they are incapable of accepting information that they don't like, or at the very least, acknowledging that UM is struggling in landing what was seen as a lock in Zettel.

So, I take it you think Zettel is blue?  Why hasn't he commited?  He grew up a UM fan, and has pressure from his family and coaches to commit....why is he spending so much time talking to other schools?

"I know 100% you're wrong on

"I know 100% you're wrong on all three. "

There is absolutely no way to interpret that the way you try to...not unless you just want to make excuses for Tom, who very obviously is wrong here.

The bottom line is this:  I suspect Tom seems to get support here because he tells the masses what they want to hear, however ridiculous it may be.  As payment for that service, the masses simply ignore how wrong Tom usually is.  Again, I don't know that for sure, but that how it looks...there's a reason he won't specifically confirm what he said.

No offense to Tom if he really believes what he wrote, but time will show him to be wrong.  I am 100% on that!

I just get the impression that he's selling crazy, because so many people come here looking for hope...desperate for a tonic that will let them see what they believe, instead of believing what they see.

Forgive me, but when guys like Sam Webb and Jon Chait are talked about as anything other than punch lines, I grow skeptical of any other purported "expert" that garners praise.

Ironic.  MSU is winning the

Ironic.  MSU is winning the PSL battles, and UM is putting felons into PRISON, while TRYING to bring in other FELONS as recruits.

I do pity you.

Well, would you like to put

Well, would you like to put your credibility on the line here?  It certainly seems like you're revered around here.

Let's be specific, are YOU actually saying that MSU will not land ANY of Arnett, Walls or Zettel?  Are you ACTUALLY saying that you "KNOW 100%", that you are correct on that?

I get that you're somewhat connected, and respected on here, but I don't visit the board enough to know how credible you are.

Feel free to share the details with us, since you "KNOW 100%" that none of them are going to MSU...or, backtrack, clarify your statement, or simply censor the truth I posted, and continue to sell crazy to the hungry masses here.

The information about Arnett

The information about Arnett and Walls being out at Cal last week I put together on my own.

Avery Walls himself is the source that says he is VERY interested in MSU...and yes, he told it to a person within the MSU program, because, well, it would have been a weird thing to mention to someone in the UM program.

Take it or leave it, it doesn't matter.  This one will  hurt twice: once when he eliminates UM, and again when he commits to MSU...just like Arnett.

Btw, Zettel is moving towards MSU as quickly as he's moving away from UM...again, don't believe it if it will ruin your weekend, but prepare yourself nonetheless.  At best, that one will only hurt once.

FYI, Arnett and Walls were

FYI, Arnett and Walls were both out on an OV to Cal last weekend.  Walls is now VERY interested in MSU.  You can read between the lines on that one.

What were they suspended

What were they suspended from?  Not games, which is kinda the point.

Yeah, since 2003.  Odd time

Yeah, since 2003.  Odd time frame.

MSU graduated all but 1 senior last year (Blair White had graduated the year before). Can you fill me in on the stats for UMs 2009 senior class?

Anyone else notice that 85% of the UM team is majoring in General Studies or Kinesiology (the 2nd K program UM has, a "special" Kinesiology program created for athletes that omits all those tough science classes".

This game is fun.

Desperate? No, I think

Desperate? No, I think there's a guy in AA that has a monopoly on desperation.

I've shared facts, which is going over like a fart in church over here.

Rucker was suspended for the

Rucker was suspended for the Illinois game.  He then CHOSE to accept a reduced charge of reckless driving, knowing he'd get a week in jail which covered the Northwestern game.  He could have dragged it out, pled not guilty, whatever.

You simply want to pretend he wasn't suspended for Illinois, and then assume he wouldn't be suspended for Northwestern, when in fact you really don't know.

Look at the situations:  He was present at a fight (pushing and shoving) that one of his friends was in.  A year later, he moves his car across a street into a parking ramp after leaving a bar, and dings a car.  Charged with OWI, pleads to reckless driving.

Oh the humanity!

This horrible assault, which

This horrible assault, which resulted in no injuries.  When Stuart Dunnings, the prosecutor first saw video of it, he said publicly that nothing on it rose to the level of criminal activity.  When told the next day that some participants were football players, he said "Now I'm interested...".  The rest is history.  All of this is public record, and widely reported.

As for Stonum,  yes, he was on probation when he skipped multiple drug tests and was subsequently jailed.  Lucky for him, no suspension.

Your outrage is as foolish as the "ski mask" stuff, which has been refuted repeatedly by prosecutors (again, very publicly).  The irony is that Demar Dorsey DID wear a ski mask when committing his armed robberies (again, this info is readily available in major news outlets), and the ONLY reason he isn't on the UM team is he couldn't clear the NCAA academically (as noted when he couldn't enroll at Louisville either).

Glass houses

No reinstatement needed if there isn't a suspension

Yeah, well Rodriguez doesn't bother with the suspension part, so I guess we can't really know how he'd handle a reinstatement.

Depends on your perspective

Perhaps this is a question for Obi Ezeh, Kevin Grady or Darryl Stonum.  But then, they wouldn't know what a suspension is, because they never received one.

Faux moral outrage is ridiculous.

Why does Brady play?  Henson

Why does Brady play?  Henson is way better.

Lombardi was before my time,

Lombardi was before my time, but I'm guessing that his teams knew how to tackle.

Dumb comment by Rich Rod.  It accentuates a glaring weakness on the team, and it is also factually incorrect.  The comment effectively blames the players, while at the same time admits that the current staff doesn't know what to do to fix it.

I used to have plenty of

I used to have plenty of points to post and start new threads.  I guess you have to be happy with the defense or you'll get negged.  I don't care if someone negs me, but don't do it unless you have some sort of retort to explain yourself.

The current system lets people who have nothing to say censor those who do.

I think you greatly under

I think you greatly under estimate how important coaching and player development is.

Bo would never field a defense that simply didn't know how to tackle, or take the right angle to the ball.

Winning cures all.  That's

Winning cures all.  That's it.  No secret.  That's what fans want, and that's what Michigan fans had always had.   Oh, and not just in September, the conference schedule counts too.

We just didn't have an answer

We just didn't have an answer for a physical team.  They controlled the line of scrimmage despite some big runs by us.  Oh, and our special teams suck...really suck.

Chait is a clown.  He writes

Chait is a clown.  He writes what he wishes would happen, and disregards his own predictions for what would happen.  It's always some nefarious, unpredictable force that prevents the good guys from performing well.

If you follow Chait's work, you'll notice he spends 90% of his time defending either Rodriguez or Obama, and neither one of them is even close to Chait's predictions on what they would achieve.  Why does he do this?   I don't know, maybe because if he didn't he'd have to admit he was just flat out wrong.

Chait is a shill, that should be pretty obvious to anyone who pays attention.

Most likely.

Jamie has

Most likely.

Jamie has never been on the bus.  He kind of ruined his own credibility with some shady stuff, but he has never liked Coach Rod.

You have to think that he's in touch with people though, and it's not like he's the only one saying it.  I mean, look at the W/L column.

The only problem I have with Jamie is that he seems to be hoping for losses, just so he can say "I told you so".

In this case, the "Michigan Man" might not be the "MIchigan Man", regardless of the W/L during their respective tenures.

I guess I'm not sure what

I guess I'm not sure what you're seeing.  According to the Freep, Sims played in every football game last year, and none this year.  The fact that he was part of an investigation kept him off the field...once charged with a crime, he was suspended.

As far as basketball, I doubt Sims evey made it into a game, even in trash time.  He did have some D1 BB offers, but not from any schools like MSU.  He just isn't close to being good enough to crack the lineup in BB.

It's a huge game, no doubt

It's a huge game, no doubt about it.

The team (and Denard especially) will  have to forget the loss and move on.  The tough part is that Iowa is similar to MSU, and I don't think the coaches are going to want the players reviewing film from a demoralizing loss.  Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

This game could end up deciding the season:  Win, then go to the bye week and settle in for the stretch run.  Lose, and the team could really start to question itself, and memories of 2009 start creeping in.

I'm thinking that a few years

I'm thinking that a few years of coching from Pat Fitzgerald might have more to do with his success than anything else.  Fitz is a bona fide rising star.

I guess I just don't see the

I guess I just don't see the big conspiracy here.  Rucker wouldn't be suspended at all if the tin foil hat crowd was correct that he is unwilling to discipline his players.

I'm sure at least some of you remember how Carr handled Marlin Jacksons run in with the law, and the delayed 1 game suspension he served.

Goose/gander, pot/kettle and all that.

The first (typical) redshirt

The first (typical) redshirt is very easy to get...it's basically a rubber stamp as far as the NCAA is concerned.  While it is technically a medical redshirt, it's really just about giving a young player time to get bigger and learn the ropes.

The 6th year of eligibility is very tough to get.  Usually, it doesn't even matter if the player has had serious injuries.  IIRC, the NCAA doesnt grant them very often unless one injury is so devastating that it results in the player missing more than a full year before they can even begin getting back on the field.

Exactly.  Hart has become a

Exactly.  Hart has become a textbook example of hubris.  Hart was 4-0 vs. MSU and called them little brother.  Hart was 0-4 vs. OSU, but so far he's never clarified his thoughts on that stat.

Hart had been making comments like that for a long time, Carr should never have let Mike Hart become the voice of the program.

You can bet your bottom dollar that his comments will be brought up again during basketball season, and of course again next year before/during/after the football game in East  Lansing.

Captain Obvious

At first, I just thought it was someone who watched the game...yep, Denard can't throw (unless NOBODY is within about 30 yards of the receiver).

A quick check of the roster reveals that Pickleman is 3-0 againt Michigan with 2 of those wins taking place in Ann Arbor.

This "high powered O will save us" has to end....we're in deep shit.

It's time to face reality...we got problems.

One game at a time.

The MSU

One game at a time.

The MSU game on Saturday is the biggest game in RichRod's tenure at UM.

When did beating only  Indiana and Purdue constitute a "good season" that would ensure the coach isn't on the hot seat?

It's a long season, let's not jump ahead to the last game, there is plenty of business to take care of first.

Denard is not an alien, but

Denard is not an alien, but aliens WILL try to steal his DNA.  They won't be fast enough to catch him though.

Don't be "that guy".  The

Don't be "that guy".  The B10, ESPN, the Detroit newspapers and TV stations, etc. all used a stopwatch to try to "prove" that the timekeeper somehow cheated.  They all confirmed that time was left on the clock (stadium clocks don't show tenths of a second, so 1.9 seconds will show as 1 second).

The petition by Lloyd Carr proved that there was time in that game, but it did succeed in getting the rules changed so that the official time is kept on the field, which basically makes the scoreboard clock an educated guess these days.   Oddly, you want to trust the scoreboard (unofficial time) is correct this time.  Get over it, it has nothing to do with October 9th...again, don't be "that guy", it's unbecoming, especially when you're wrong.

I'm beginning to think that

I'm beginning to think that GERG has family members that post on here.  How the hell can you say he called a good game?  UMASS is a D1-AA team!  The spread was close to 30 points...it's not like UMASS scored on some fluke special teams plays, they simply marched down the field a few times.  Not good, not good at all.

Rich Rod has to be wondering what he has to do to get a decent DC on staff.

The funny thing is that when

The funny thing is that when they said "YOU SUCK!", GERG turned around.  That's a bad omen.

The BTN has crappy

The BTN has crappy commentators, but as the network expands I expect it to get a bit better.  The BTN is way ahead of the revenue proections, so hopefully it won't take long.  This season will probably be more of the same, maybe next year they'll be able to get at least a couple quality game crews.  The studio programming is a lot better than it used to be, so there's reason to believe it's just a mater of time.

Let me guess, when you

Let me guess, when you mentioned jail, he mentioned Cissoko and prison.  Why would you get into an argument like that?

I can't imagine how

I can't imagine how aspiring sports reporters feel when they can't find work, and guys like Parker and Albom get caught making stuff up, and keep their jobs.

Chait wrote today's article,

Chait wrote today's article, but I believe it was Borton who wrote the other MSU article yesterday...but I get your point, the favorite topic at TheWolverine.com is MSU.
