Your Unpopular Food Opinions

Submitted by MeanJoe07 on

What are your unpopular food opinions?  I've never had a bowl of chilli that I liked, tacos are overrated and I like kale.  Also, do you think there have been too many "Your unpopular opinions" threads today?  If so, did this one put it over the edge of too redundant or did it happen earlier?  Also, do you think there have been too many "Your unpopular opinions" threads today?

Also, I hate when people attach the word "Crack" to certain menu items in an effort to appeal to the bored suburban stripmall crowd. There is the place moving to Ann Arbor, Hopcat, and they have "Crack Fries". They are about as mediocre as it gets, but idiots rave about them(I'm guessing because of the name).

...Is a disgusting lump of dough. Toasting doesn't even make one palatable.

Then there's donuts. They are bagels, with a hole punched in the middle with additional globs of sugar and fat.

I have an auto-immune issue that makes me gluten-intolerant.  A few years back, it was just a quirky trait.  But lately, the mainstream media, at the behest of their Big Food and Agri ad-buyers and stakeholders, has been pushing the notion that gluten-free is a lame trend.  And now I have to feel embarassed when (easily influenced) people think I've embraced some lame trend whenever I ask for a GF menu.

But, in all honesty, I believe processed wheat is cheap crap that no one should eat since it's pretty clear our species hasn't finished the evolutionary step of adapting to it in our diet yet.  It's main use was to feed poor people on the super-cheap way back in the day so they'd feel full and keep working, and it's still slowly killing nearly everyone who continues to eat it (whether perceptible symptoms manifest or not).  Cupcakes and whatever else is the media-promoted bakery treat du jour are lame trends.

North American wheat either.  I shant go into details.  However, when I go to Europe, I can eat bread to my heart's content.  Waist line isnt necessarily happy though..

I read a blog post (sorry, cant remember where) that the wheat on each continent have been hybridized differently to accommadate completely different production processes.  Food for thought....

Culver's Concrete Mixers are fantastic.  White Castle is the single most vile restaurant food I have had.  French fries with malt vinegar are from the gods.

Raising Canes is wildly overrated. People rave about it like its a gift from the gods. They're just the same damn chicken tenders you can get everywhere else.

The sauce isn't even that great. It's not bad, but it's not divine like everyone makes it out to be.
