Your current state of UM football fandom through song
Hello MGoFriends,
We're in that weird-ass (and quite frankly boring) time of year where actual football news is still a week or two away. The NBA/NHL are finished and MLB is still a month or two out of carrying any significance. The Olympics have been a decent distraction but something feels off about it due to the general apathy towards sports in the age of Covid.
Anyhow, I know we have a lot of musically-inclined posters on the blog and I feel like it's been a while since we all checked in with each other. Given the current state of football and the blog in general, what song would you use to describe the upcoming season? No explanation needed but I'm sure you will anyways... Sarcastic and bitchy posts only.
I'll go first: Ghost Town by The Specials

Chances are, you have a full time job and maybe even a kid or two, and this is how you spend your time?
You're**
(Also, mods get this guy)
A) thanks for posting so much in all these threads. Allows to downvote the shot of out you.
B) HAHAHAHAHAHAHA YOU GOT BANNED
Your mother knows otherwise.
Awesome song for the end of a romantic encounter, my Ravel's Bolero!
I'll go with something a bit more melancholy...Closing Time by Semisonic
The season is about to start!! One song comes to mind:
”Hello darkness my old friend.
Ive come to talk to you again”
To the pessimists and "basketball schoolers"
Fuck you, I won't do what ya tell me.
Glory of Love by Peter Cetera
Ralph Macchio!
As a young-ish fan, this is about all I have to offer.
Also, this is just a fantastic film. Please watch it if you have not seen it before.

"O Brian, Where Art Thou?"
I Heard You Crying by Michael Schulte
Because the incessant whining by the “fans” is making the board unreadable
"You Raise Me Up," Josh Groban.
(What - too soon?)
No…that was funny.

i mean i fully expect this to be downvoted like a post extolling the virtues of rehiring Doug Nussmeier but The Bends is their greatest album and the best British album of the 90s FULL STOP
there i said it
The bends is great and so is Radiohead.
hahaha
I posted a Radiohead post recently that somewhat runs parallel to this but yea man don't worry, this is an audiophile blog, saying The Bends is great on here should only get you upvotes! Maybe it's because I caught on late to Radiohead and wasn't on them in my youth like I could've been -call me a poser, Radiohead experts- but the album is realllly good. I probably don't say best but I sure wouldn't argue with someone who thinks it is!
I'm just going along for the ride. Hope it's fun...
Who am I kidding? I'm fired up. Let's do this!
Good lord, it's so obvious it slaps you in the junk.
I am in between “I Don’t Care” by Fall Out Boy and “I Really Don’t Care” by Demi Lovato.

Sometimes when you're on. . . you're really. . .
this song takes me to a time that rivals my current despondency
You beat me to it. Well done.
Came here to write in the same answer. Lows feel so extreme that the good feels ******* cheap.

I expected this to be the first post.
Where have all the good times gone!
Bob Seger. “Against the Wind”. The line, “Wish I didn’t know now the things I didn’t know then”.
I have to stay positive whenever possible - especially in situations I can't control - so I have to go with this:
And yet if I'm being honest:
Basketball is my favorite sport. I like the way they dribble up and down the court.
ps. Ghost Town is a nice track

agreed... Ghost Town is a great Specials song, second only to Gangsters (IMO)
The only song I can use is the song that will be played on September 4th at around 11:55 AM when I am reminded to be thankful to be in the greatest stadium in the country. Thankful to be a proud alum of the greatest university in the world (James Earl Jones voice). And thankful to be a fan of the young men and coaches representing our great university.
‘The Victors’ is the only answer I can give.
