I think TP went outside himself to an almost..... Kerouacian..... place to develop that poetry.  To the extent he offends with his defense of general mayhem, he atones with the wonderful language..... kills people, murders people, steals from you, steals from me..... Absolutely classic.

They're two damn good candidates.

The case for this Hall photo is that you have:

  • a misspelling
  • a guy profiting from something that he probably shouldn't profit from (not a comment about athletes earning money; just a comment about people earning money for acting like asses)
  • a borderline-insane hatred of its rival
  • general boorishness

It also has OSU beating Michigan, which unfortunately is becoming pretty typical OSU, too.

The case for both the yard marker and banner incidents read pretty much the same:

  • one was committed by and the other sanctioned by their now-sainted head coach
  • instead of apologies, both were rationalized by same after the fact(s)
  • both are well remembered by both schools 40 years later.  We see these as unsportsmanlike in the extreme.  They are proud of them.  The Hall incident may have some legs over the next half-century.  His (pathetic) mispelled poster will probably not.

Everyone Murders

  • The case for the Everyone Murders soliloquy being The Most OSU Thing Ever is that a person actually got on camera, with time to prepare his answer, and stated "everyone kills people, murders people, ..."

But choosing between these is understandably difficult - it's like picking between Sparty No! moments.  All three incidents are so over-the-top it's hard to pick a clear winner.  (My original "Reshuffle the Deck" comment was purely tongue-in-cheek, and driven by my user name.)

Could be....

I've always generally understood what was meant when an athlete goes on some crazy rant even if the words were poorly chosen (see A. Iverson - Practice).  In Everyone Murders, however, I think TP's just making a statement on hypocrisy and the importance of forgiveness, but I'm not totally sure.  Truly Buckeye stuff there.

The previous poster mentioned leaving a city full of shit-laden coolers after a football game.  As the dinner hour descends, I think we both may be wrong.

but, I expect he will sell a gazillion of these to Ohio fans of all stripes.  And yes, the NFL is going to have something to say about the use of its logo.  You'd think that with such a money-maker, he could find someone with enough common sense to know that.

Then again, maybe you wouldn't.

A signed copy can be picked up for $19.99 on Ebay. They are also having a signing where you can pick up a 8x10 copy and have it signed for $15 or a 16x20 version signed for $25.

Get them while you can because with the NFL trying to clean up it's image and the NFL insignia on the poster, they will be rare very soon. As a potential hall of famer they will be worth hundreds (of pennies) soon.
