Wu Tang turns 30!

To break up some of the sign gate post, I thought I would share the unthinkable. Wu Tang 36 Chambers turns 30 today. In highschool me and my friends listened to the cd constantly for probably 4 or 5 years. Imo it's the greatest rap album ever made. Wu Tang is for the kids!

I had just moved to NYC from Ann Arbor. A friend in the music industry had a conflict and offered me his ticket to the Wu Tang release party at Webster Hall. I had never heard of Wu Tang nor Webster Hall but figured, what the hell.

I get to the party and wander around for a while taking in the scene. I walked up some steps to get a better view of the crowd and venue and suddenly like 20 dudes walk out next to me, one wearing a hoodie with nylons (pantyhose) over his face and carrying a machete. I had somehow ended up on the stage and this was Wu Tang including a machete-wielding Ghostface Killah. I let out a small yelp and scampered off the stage. Scariest moment of my young midwestern life.

I spent my first two years in South Quad from 94-96 smoking a lot of weed, working a lot in a bar, and classing very little (hence my "OneEyedMooseSmokers Section" handle)

Sophomore year, I was told some scholars such as myself a bit a ways down the hall were aficionados of the herb and could help me replenish my dwindling stash.  They were unbeknownst to me.  Despite me being an unknown stranger, I knocked on their door, and they answered and accommodated.  They were kind to let me join them for a nice contemplative session enjoying some tunes and smoke for a bit and the tunes were nothing I had ever heard the likes of before.

Before I thanked them and took leave back to my room after their gracious hospitality and bonhomie, I asked them the name of those fantastically baroque beats.

"Raekwon," they said.

Since we’re off topic, some awesome sports entertainment is on ESPN2, with Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes taking on no. 8 Va Tech. Good stuff!!

I can't remember what my boss told me to do five minutes ago, but I can name all the members of the Wu-Tang.  No idea why.  One of those worthless info-bits that take up valuable real estate in my limited brain.
