Wisconsin - Minnesota canceled
November 24th, 2020 at 6:07 PM ^
Welp.
Makes 3 canceled games for Wisc - technically ineligible for Big Ten Championship (though they were unlikely to go over NW anyway).

I wondered about this earlier, but didn't get any response. Is the rule that any three cancellations make a team ineligible for the championship, or three that you had to cancel due to your own Covid situation? I could see it either way. It would really suck if a team were to be responsible and not have any Covid cases, just lose a chance at the championship because they faced three opponents that had to cancel due to their own situations. But then again, its hard to argue that a team that didn't play three games should be eligible. What a screwy season...

It doesn't matter which team had the COVID-19 outbreak. You have to play at least six games so long as the league average of conference games played is six or more per team. If that average drops below six, then you only have to have come within two games of the league average.

Thanks for the answer. That makes sense.
November 24th, 2020 at 6:38 PM ^
Too bad OSU does not have 3 suspended games.
November 24th, 2020 at 6:40 PM ^
Could still happen. Only need 2 of the next 3 teams to cancel.
November 24th, 2020 at 10:35 PM ^
I'd volunteer to cancel the Mich v OSU game this year.
November 24th, 2020 at 7:53 PM ^
All of it is dumb
November 24th, 2020 at 6:16 PM ^
Wisconsin fan right now:
November 24th, 2020 at 6:47 PM ^
No, Wisconsin fans be more like
November 24th, 2020 at 6:51 PM ^
I mean at least they’re doing better than us.
November 24th, 2020 at 6:18 PM ^
Ok now do Michigan
November 24th, 2020 at 6:21 PM ^
No such bad luck. Dong punches will continue until MGoBoard morale improves.
November 24th, 2020 at 6:29 PM ^
Unabated
November 24th, 2020 at 7:03 PM ^
Unabated Dong Punch. Band name or album title?
November 24th, 2020 at 8:05 PM ^
Ohio State’s fight song, I think.
November 24th, 2020 at 6:27 PM ^
I’d still like to watch Michigan play PSU and Maryland. Ohio, not so much.
November 24th, 2020 at 6:30 PM ^
Maryland is going to put up 50 points on Frank Pentangeli
November 24th, 2020 at 6:52 PM ^
As long as we score 51 or more, I’m okay with that. I may be the last one on the “defense doesn’t matter,” train, but now that I am, whoo-hoo, let’s drop 60 on Maryland!
November 24th, 2020 at 7:13 PM ^
We just beat Rutgers so “let’s go after them now while we got the muscle”
November 24th, 2020 at 10:27 PM ^
If I could possibly give this post 5 thumbs up for the "Frank Pentangeli" reference, I would. I literally did LOL.
November 24th, 2020 at 6:36 PM ^
Can’t burn the Covid card until OSU
November 24th, 2020 at 6:26 PM ^
Can we get our game cancelled too? Pretty please with Everclear on top?
November 24th, 2020 at 6:32 PM ^
I want to see our game! A chance to take down an 0-5 Penn State team and watch Cade again sounds fun to me.
November 24th, 2020 at 6:37 PM ^
I'm concerned that Penn State is better than its record and I'm pretty sure we're worse than ours.
November 24th, 2020 at 6:38 PM ^
I am not saying that I disagree with this assessment Indy, but are you really that scared of Penn State that you want to cancel our game, too?
November 24th, 2020 at 8:56 PM ^
Oh not at all. Don’t want to see it canceled. Just generally leery of playing a winless team that I think will all of a sudden not look like a winless team when lined up against us.
November 24th, 2020 at 7:42 PM ^
PSU isn't 0-5 bad, but with all their missing players and mediocre play they aren't that much better than their record. They're probably a lot like Michigan, with a slightly better defense and a worse offense. It'll be a real stoppable force against a movable object on Saturday.
November 24th, 2020 at 6:44 PM ^
Yeah I want to see Cade take as many snaps as he can. Need to get ready for next year.
November 24th, 2020 at 6:34 PM ^
Wow, Everclear is the triple dog dare of all pretty please requests...and I agree.
November 24th, 2020 at 7:33 PM ^
They should consider playing this game on championship week. MSU and Maryland can make up their game to balance it out. Seems dumb to break this long streak of games so Wisconsin can play a crossover against Maryland and Minnesota can play Rutgers.
November 24th, 2020 at 8:03 PM ^
This season is incredibly invaluable for our young players. Getting to play, practice, evaluate is good for the upcoming season if we can learn and grow from it.
November 24th, 2020 at 8:53 PM ^
If Cade keeps playing well he may have a chance to start next season. This would allow JJ to get a RS, instead of the pressure of playing as a Freshman, but if JJ is so good, he may win the starting spot over Cade. I don't think Cade will transfer out and would be willing to be backup QB. Milton will probably enter the transfer portal at the end of the season.
November 25th, 2020 at 7:55 AM ^
Yeah, I hear OSU is going to need a new QB next season.
November 25th, 2020 at 10:05 AM ^
Wow, we're going here already? I'm just enjoying the anticipation of Michigan basketball starting this afternoon and watching McNamara play again on Saturday. That kid has a grip on the game of football.
November 25th, 2020 at 9:32 AM ^
Northwestern is the class of the west....... Congrats Coach Pat!
as the standing are currently, we'd get the boilermakers in the 9th game. i wouldn't feel confident if we got the 'huskers, at this point.
November 25th, 2020 at 11:05 AM ^
No West Div title for Wisc. NWestern is more deserving.
November 25th, 2020 at 11:39 AM ^
If one of the divisions champs can't play week 9 do they cancel that game, or is it "next team up?"
