Who said Forcier Wouldn't Start Next Year?!

Submitted by brown on

It's pretty clear now that Rodriguez needs either someone who can both run well and throw at least with minimum competency.  The zone read that we run for 50% of our plays doesn't work unless the defense thinks the QB will ever keep the ball.  Threet a) never keeps the ball and b) even if he does...who cares?  Sheridan can run (sometimes), but not throw, and Threet can throw (sometimes...although im beginning to question that), but not run.

Considering that Threet can't even beat out Sheridan, i'm pretty sure Forcier or Beaver will start next year, especially since they'll have more time to learn the system than a regular freshman would.

I have to think coming in Forcier will be better than running and throwing than Sheridan who was pretty atrocious today with the exception of that one to McGuffie.

I really wanted Threet to do well enough so that we could redshirt Forcier and Beaver so that those two could learn the system and develop in a college S&C program.  Those hopes are out the window; the true freshmen are going to be thrown into the fire next year.

Yeah, I assumed either Threet was injured or he did/said something in the locker room he really shouldn't have, because if they didn't yank Threet at halftime in the Wisconsin game, there's no way in hell they would have yanked him for performance today.  Had to be something else.

I blame this entirely on coaching. We are running or throwing the bubble screen virtually 90% of the time on first and second down.

Toledo couldn't run the ball at all. So, what did they do? DUH, they passed for like 260 yards.

What did RR do?????

Keep on Keeping On!

The only times we moved the ball was when we passed. But, no, RR had to prove the spread is gonna work no matter what!!!!

My apoligies to Lloyd -- he was never this stubborn.

And the D is just as bad -- when we needed stops we didn't get them. THIS WAS TOLEDO!!!!!!

Ballsy saying anything negative about the coaching around here.

Yes, I understand that this is his first year and was looking to be a rebuilding year no matter what. But come on, don't tell me we don't have the fucking talent to beat fucking Toledo no matter what scheme we're running or who's on the team. This one goes to coaching plain and simple.

"Go back to the Power I and THROW IT DOWN THE FIELD."

What the fuck does this mean?  A power I has ONE FUCKING RECEIVER!  We have the worst Oline ever...and you want to run it between the tackles more?  I can't even comprehend how stupid you are.  Just...wow.

There isn't a lot of talent on this team.  Why is this so hard to comprehend?

get government assistance when you lived at home? Because your statement assures me that you have some kind of dysfunction.

Abandon everything they've been taught, install a different offense, and still suck out loud. That's what you're saying. You ever think that they players that are playing right now might be in the right places at the right times after a year in the system ? Maybe that after a year or so, Threet will be able to hit wide open receivers?

"The zone read that we run for 50% of our plays doesn't work unless the defense thinks the QB will ever keep the ball.  Threet a) never keeps the ball and b) even if he does...who cares?"

I'm not sure if you actually check statistics, but Threet is the second leading rusher on the team. Did you watch the Illinois game? I guess Threet didn't do anything with his feet there.

It's 6 goddamn games, people. Young team. Ease the fuck up.

Players that have left in the past 2 years or are out for this season or left early.

Gallimore (4* OL)
Boren(4* OL)
Schiafano (4* OL)
Zirbel (4* OL)
Mallett (5* QB)
Manningham (pure awesome)
Arrington (Ditto)
Mitchell (5th year Senior left rather then not be a fatass)
Ciuliou (Ditto)
Jason Forcier (NOOOOOOOOOOOO)

So our Oline is fucking terrible, we have  a redshirt freshman or walkon QB, and we wonder why we can't win a game?  You understand this right?

Gallimore- Apparently no where near as good as rankings said, did not return.
Boren- Pretty much because of the coaching change.
Schifano- No longer liked football I guess.
Zirbel- Hurt
Mallett- Coaching change, attitude
Manningham- Was too awesome
Arrington- NFL draft, may have been somewhat related to coaching change and also related to craptacular QB situtation
Mitchell- Sucked
Ciuliou- Sucked
Jason Forcier- Mallett

So basically these guys are not available due to bad luck, the coaching change, NFL draft, or in the case of most of the Class of 2004 OL, lack of talent.

Mallett almost transferred 2 times before he left.  Carr (I've read this in several places but I take no stake in its veracity) threw transfer papers at him.

Boren left after he was forced to do offseason workouts and his brother wasn't offered a scholarship (not proven, but once again, several stories about this).

The rest of the people either quit (lots of OL, Gittleson/Moeller issues?) or got injured.  While Barwis is supposed to prevent injuries, you can't expect him to A) Prevent mono, B) Prevent injuries to players that he's worked with for only a few weeks (Odoms, Robinson, Zirbel) or C) Block for the offensive line or play QB.

We are young, weak in crucial places.  Happens.

Well , I do live in Boyne City right (50 miles) below the bridge, so I guess I could be a troll (they live under bridges, you know).

But, I have had season tickets to M football for 50 years!

I really have sat through games with 60,000 TOTAL ATTENDANCE !!!

And, unlike 99% of MGOBLOGGERs I have witnessed losing seasons (more than 1).

Wow, this may come as a surprise.

But, I LOVE MICHIGAN !!!!!

Whether we win or lose. For 50 years. Tailgating with friends and family. Sitting in 40 degree weather and hoping I don't get hyperthermia. Watching the good and the bad.

That's what "It's Great To Be A Michigan Wolverine" is all about.

Anyone can sing in victory!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only and idiot never complains!!!

well that's okay, I guess. I thought he was just pulled.  I dunno. He's still playing like a true freshman in this system.  Forcier is still like 50/50 shot to start.  Threet is still missing open receivers.
