Who Are Your 4 CFB Playoff Teams?
Mates,
Bama looking mortal with Florida getting to within 4 points, but guessing they put the Gators away. ND got whupped and the thought that they definitely belong in the CFP is a joke. But who is next? Ohio? they were trailing Northwestern until the end of the 3rd quarter. How about Texas A & M? Maybe. It is true their only loss is to 'Bama. Iowa State lost. Florida? If they pull this one out does a 2-loss team get a shot? Same with Georgia. And Cincy is struggling with Tulsa.
Here are the top 10 before play started this weekend:
Bama
Clemson
ND
ohio
Texas A & M
Iowa State
Florida
Georgia
Cincy
Oklahoma
So the question is this: Which 4 teams make your CFB?
Happy Saturday

Bama Clemson Osu and Texas A&M.
December 19th, 2020 at 11:34 PM ^
Except I'd like to see osu stay 4th so they'd have to play Bama in the semis and get destroyed.
December 20th, 2020 at 12:02 AM ^
I don’t think it will matter if it’s Bama or Clemson. Result will be the same. Clemson looked really good tonight.
December 20th, 2020 at 8:07 AM ^
If this is the field OSU will be 4 to avoid TAM-Bama rematch in semis.
December 20th, 2020 at 8:23 AM ^
December 20th, 2020 at 1:12 AM ^
Yup, with Alabama taking the whole shebang

Yup, with Alabama taking the whole shebang
December 20th, 2020 at 7:21 AM ^
- Bama
- Clemson
- Florida
- TAMU
Florida would beat OSU, and ND by 2 TD's, and TAMU, because I hate ND
December 19th, 2020 at 11:10 PM ^
Bama, Clem, Ohio and A&M.
After that debacle today, no way the committee should pick the pitiful Irish.
A&M would beat ND head to head IMO, and played much tougher schedule.
Do the right thing committee...
December 20th, 2020 at 6:48 AM ^
Yes. Plus ND beat Clemson, by 7, when 3 or 4 of the top Clemson players were out at the time.
December 20th, 2020 at 8:05 AM ^
Tougher schedule? A&Ms best win is Florida and then...Auburn? They got crushed by Bama, worse than NDs loss to Clemson. Unless you give them the benefit for the timing of the loss, not sure how you can slot them above ND based on resume alone.
if there was ever a year to pick a G5 team, this is the year. No one wants to watch A&M get shellacked by Bama again (and no way that 4th team should be ranked 3rd just to avoid that matchup - plus OSU being ahead of A&M in the rankings and bearing a top 15 team and getting a conf championship vs a win over a shitty Tenn team shouldn’t change that) and no one thinks ND should get in after that performance.
it should be Bama, Clemson, OSU and Cinci. It will be Bama, Clemson, OSU and ND
December 20th, 2020 at 8:51 AM ^
Aside from Bama and Florida, the remainder of aTm's opponents went a combined 20-48, and none have a winning record.
A&Ms schedule wasn't that hard.
December 20th, 2020 at 9:57 AM ^
1) Per strength of schedule rankings - A&M above ND. 2) North Carolina overrated - period. 3) Even in a down year - SEC outclasses the ACC in football talent.
December 20th, 2020 at 10:02 AM ^
Sorry I must’ve forgotten that the SEC is awesome and better than everyone else narrative.
December 20th, 2020 at 2:50 PM ^
Strength of schedule doesn't exist with no OOC games.
All we know is the ACC and Big 12 lost several games to "lower conferences"
December 20th, 2020 at 10:00 AM ^
Exactly right - but not according to Jimbo. They ran the gauntlet that is the sec with 8 games and did it all without free crab legs! They even beat Auburn, who was ranked at the time, and they are still claiming that as a ranked win. After today, I suspect the committee moves a 4 loss auburn back into the top 25 so that tamu can keep that claim of a top 25 win.
December 19th, 2020 at 11:11 PM ^
Bama, Clemson, osu, Notre dame. Tamu and Notre dame have similar beatdowns to Bama and Clemson, respectively. No way they move ND out although for better TV they should...
December 20th, 2020 at 7:46 AM ^
I agree w you about ND over TAMU - both have a loss but ND has better wins than TAMU and played in a conference final. I'd have Bama v ND (revenge opportunity from a few years ago) and OSU v Clemson (revenge opportunity from last year) and if somehow both ND and Clemson win to play in the title for a 3rd time they both legitimately got there and it would be ok as a rubber match.
December 20th, 2020 at 10:37 AM ^
Better TV? From a ratings perspective, A&M is no where near the draw than ND is.
December 19th, 2020 at 11:11 PM ^
Michigan (starters), Michigan (2nd string), Michigan (3rd string), Michigan (scout team)
Hey, you asked for my teams, not the committee’s.
December 19th, 2020 at 11:29 PM ^
Pretty sure that's the same group of guys at this point.
December 20th, 2020 at 8:27 AM ^
Great. Now Michigan is inbred, just like the SEC teams... Why don't we win like the SEC, also???
December 20th, 2020 at 12:08 AM ^
I sure hope Michigan can win it!
December 20th, 2020 at 1:24 AM ^
I’ll take the Michigan practice players. From what I hear, they dominate. The game has to be played midday on a Wednesday though.
December 19th, 2020 at 11:11 PM ^
Alabama
Clemson
Ohio State
Coastal Carolina
A&M already had their shot against Alabama and got demolished. That should mean something.
Considering that this season is kind of an asterisk anyway, just give Coastal Carolina a shot. What the hell.
December 19th, 2020 at 11:20 PM ^
I like your thinking - but would replace Coastal Carolina w Cincy. They are fun to watch...
December 19th, 2020 at 11:26 PM ^
Yeah, I’d be cool with that too.
December 19th, 2020 at 11:28 PM ^
Cincy blew any chance of an argument after tonight's showing, and I'm posting this with the game tied late in the 4th quarter.
Fickell needed a blowout win to have even a best case 5% shot.
December 19th, 2020 at 11:11 PM ^
Bama and Clemson. No need for anyone else
December 20th, 2020 at 7:45 AM ^
This is the right answer. The season is an exhibition with only the SEC and ACC playing a meaningful schedule amongst the P5. Four teams don’t deserve the opportunity. Florida is probably the 3rd best and their 2 losses exclude them. Even the ND win vs Clemson has an asterisk with Lawrence sidelined by Covid.
Just have the two best decide who wins the “half” national championship.
December 20th, 2020 at 11:07 AM ^
Yep. That will be the two in the finals regardless of how the politics get sorted out.
No one else really deserves .........another shot.
Why stretch this thing out and allow a chance of Covid impacting the final?
December 20th, 2020 at 11:34 AM ^
Yeah, this is basically how I feel
December 19th, 2020 at 11:12 PM ^
1. Alabama
2. Clemson
3. Texas A&M
4. Notre Dame
First two are obvious. A&M was crushed by Bama, but with a seven-game win streak between that loss and now, I’m willing to give them another shot. ND over Ohio State because of their condensed schedule, also because I don’t think much of Indiana and Northwestern.
They should just put Alabama and Clemson in the final and do away with the semifinals.
December 19th, 2020 at 11:50 PM ^
+1 for creative thinking
December 20th, 2020 at 12:02 AM ^
This would be mine as well in that exact order.
December 20th, 2020 at 12:07 AM ^
I agree with you. OSU played by far the weakest schedule, the least amount of games, and had fairly concerning performances against IU and NW who aren’t that great. There should be a minimum amount of games needed to qualify. Other than not losing, OSU’s resume is poor and they are well rested.
December 20th, 2020 at 10:06 AM ^
I love everyone who says "IU and NW arent that great"...have a logical take but when part of your supporting argument is diminishing two teams that would absolutely prison rape us it just shows a pettiness we have become known for. Your other point that says there should be a minimum number of games is moot. The committee has already said there is no minimum. there is no chance they leave ohio out. none. ND might be but not ohio. they are a HUGE revenue draw, huge
December 20th, 2020 at 3:46 AM ^
If we go by the eye test OSU has looked pretty pedestrian against a terrible BIG 10. TAMU looked much better this season. In that case, ND and TAMU should be in.
if you base it on accomplishment, hard to argue OSU is out since they are undefeated with a conference championship. Will be interesting to see how things shake out but I’m willing to bet the committee sides with OSU
December 20th, 2020 at 2:52 PM ^
TAMU and ND both played two teams with winning records and got blown out by one.
December 20th, 2020 at 12:54 PM ^
Seems to be the right answer to me as well. OSU will probably get in because of conference politics, but they haven’t shown themselves to be a top 4 team this year. The conference schedule along with their average at times play should keep them home this, even though I’d hate if it were Michigan in that scenario.
December 19th, 2020 at 11:12 PM ^
ND and A&M should play next week...winner gets the privilege to be slaughtered by Alabama in the semifinal.
December 19th, 2020 at 11:35 PM ^
How about a MMA fight between Jimbo Fisher and Brian Kelly for the tiebreaker next weekend. I would pony up $ for PPV to see BK get his ass kicked by a redneck...
December 19th, 2020 at 11:42 PM ^
Kelly would undoubtedly be fighting out of the purple corner
December 20th, 2020 at 12:12 AM ^
+1 if I could. That was funny!
December 19th, 2020 at 11:15 PM ^
Bama
Clemson
OSU
TA&M
the Aggies lost early to Bama ND got crushed by #2
ND beat Clemson early without Lawrence. They don’t deserve to be there
December 20th, 2020 at 12:09 AM ^
In theory I agree, but I think this is where things get sticky. You start rewarding teams for playing less games and weaker schedules. Isn’t this why UCF was excluded those years? OSU should be treated no differently.
December 21st, 2020 at 1:02 PM ^
Who exactly did Notre Dame and Clemson play this season that makes you think they had a difficult schedule?
December 19th, 2020 at 11:15 PM ^
if Bama wins
1 - Bama
2 - Clemson
3 - OSU
4 - Cincy if they win, OU if they don't
if Florida wins
1 - Clemson
2 - OSU
3 - Bama
4 - Florida
December 19th, 2020 at 11:15 PM ^
Alabama (most likely), Clemson, Coastal Carolina, Cincinnati (most likely)
December 19th, 2020 at 11:15 PM ^
Bama, Clemson, OSU, and either Cinci/Coastal. Sorry but conference titles still mean something to me.
