Which would you rather have - our 2010 Defense or our 2008 Offense?
Choose your poison - Which would you rather have - our 2010 Defense or our 2008 Offense?
The Threet/Sheridamnit led offense ranked 109th in the nation in total offense (290.75 ypg) and 99th in scoring offense at 20.25 points per game. This year's defense is ranked 112th in total defense giving up 445.18 ypg and 99th in scoring defense allowing 33.55 points per game. Ironically almost identical suckitude.
As painful as it is to watch, I would much rather have this years defense rather than the 2008 offense. With our offense we have a chance to win every game (and it's fun to watch). On the other hand it is generally true that you can't win if you can't score any points- witness the 2008 10-13 Toledo debacle.

we have now with the offense we have now. At least it's fun to watch. I have never had more fun watching Michigan football than I do when Denard takes the field.

Nothing gets me fired up like seeing him bust out stupid long runs.
November 24th, 2010 at 1:08 PM ^
I know! I sit there every game just hoping he will have another 87 yard run like he did at ND. If that wasn't beautiful, I don't know what is.
November 24th, 2010 at 12:36 PM ^
Has Michigan ever been more fun to watch? Not in my lifetime.
November 24th, 2010 at 12:55 PM ^
I don't know, watching Wisconsin have 6 three-and-outs in a row in 2006 was extremely fun.
November 24th, 2010 at 11:54 AM ^
We are two years further in is it unreasonable to expect that both sides of the ball could have improved some? Not that the defense should be as awsome as the O but middle of the road shouldn't be out of the realm of expectations.

go round and round...
November 24th, 2010 at 11:54 AM ^
2008 Offense was guaranteed to lose the ball, not have any sustainable drives, no big plays, and put us out of games early and often.
November 24th, 2010 at 11:54 AM ^
This question is essentially asking:
Would you rather have a 3-9 team or a 7-5 (hopefully 8-4) team?
November 24th, 2010 at 11:56 AM ^
I don't think so, actually.
November 24th, 2010 at 12:19 PM ^
No? Then enlighten us.
November 24th, 2010 at 11:55 AM ^
see osu's prez dissed TCU and Boise St? Now that would have been a worth while thread.

Geaux_Blue must be playing with that buttery cat still.
November 24th, 2010 at 12:08 PM ^
I'd still be playing with it. Wow, that kinda sounded dirty.
November 24th, 2010 at 12:31 PM ^
...Geaux_Blue is no longer a mod, or so I read in one of his comments.
November 24th, 2010 at 12:40 PM ^
He got a new job!
November 24th, 2010 at 12:43 PM ^
are we mod -less? I'm scared...
November 24th, 2010 at 11:55 AM ^
Both? OH! Better idea! 2010 offense and 2008 defense! Brilliant!
November 24th, 2010 at 11:55 AM ^

Yes. Our offense is fun to watch until I take my eyes off Denard and move them in an upward direction towards the scoreboard. I wouldn't necessarily say it gives us a chance to win every game.
November 24th, 2010 at 11:35 PM ^
An offense that scores nearly 40 points a game can most definitely give us a chance to win each and every game. Have you watched any of our games this year?

What a tough decision. Would you rather have seven wins going into OSU or three wins going in to OSU?
Let me think for awhile and I'll get back to you.
November 24th, 2010 at 11:57 AM ^
Hmm...two terrible choices. I can't decide. And now I feel stabby.
November 24th, 2010 at 11:57 AM ^
OSU have both.
November 24th, 2010 at 11:59 AM ^
I rather buy a bullet and rent a gun.
November 24th, 2010 at 11:59 AM ^
your question is a trick question and unsolvable.
November 24th, 2010 at 11:59 AM ^
Other than Oregon we have the best offense in the country with sophomores scattered everywhere, We have freshman all over our defense....everyone take a deep breath and let them develop.......all you fans that want to fire RR after 2 years of his guys, back off and go buy a new walmart michigan shirt cuz your 1975 jersey and way of thinking is pathetic!!
November 24th, 2010 at 12:11 PM ^
And if David Brandon is one of those Michigan fans? What would you tell him?
November 24th, 2010 at 12:00 PM ^
I'd rather have our 1997 defense and our 1997 offense.

You used your new Basic status to create a thread engaging the board in a slumber party game? That's interesting.

Defense wins championships
November 24th, 2010 at 12:43 PM ^
Oregon and Auburn.
November 24th, 2010 at 1:15 PM ^
Oh no you di-int!
Based on points given up, Oregon has the 11th ranked defense, yo! Auburn's d isn't great but isn't losing either with the 60th best defense.

I prefer an Old Fashioned from Sharon Marsh....oh yay...switch hands.

Tell me again about the women at work that you do not like.
November 24th, 2010 at 12:54 PM ^
How about, this years offense, and then 97's defense?
November 24th, 2010 at 3:48 PM ^
Arsenic. Damn, this post sure cheered me right up.

Nuff said.
