What is going on at corwin browns house (swat team is there)
August 12th, 2011 at 3:36 PM ^
I hope for a quick and safe outcome for everyone involved...
August 12th, 2011 at 3:36 PM ^
Where is this happening?
August 12th, 2011 at 4:09 PM ^
Which I believe is outside South Bend, between SB and Elkhart.
August 12th, 2011 at 4:23 PM ^
The subdivision is in the very NE corner of St Joe county. Just a few hundred yards from the state line. My wife's co-worker lives 2 streets over.
According to WSBT-TV, police using a bullhorn are referring to the man in the house as "Corwin."
Quote:
Neighbors are telling the South Bend Tribune that the rest of the family is safe and no longer in the house.
August 12th, 2011 at 3:39 PM ^
"The neighbor told WSBT several children and a woman made it safely out of the home."
That's good news.
August 12th, 2011 at 3:41 PM ^
From what I can gather from the source I found looks like domestic disturbance, corwin probably with gun inside house alone. Everyone is fine not too sure what's happening now.

Hopefully it ends without corwin losing it and no one getting hurt. Sounds like he's probably going to jail though.
August 12th, 2011 at 3:54 PM ^
There goes his career.
August 12th, 2011 at 7:59 PM ^
This is probably not the most important issue at play here.

A SWAT team has responded to the Northbrook Shores subdivision in Granger after shots were reportedly fired inside at a home in the 10000 block of Glynwater Ct.

This was originally called in as a domestic dispute just before 1 p.m.

A neighbor told WSBT the home is owned by Corwin Brown, a former Notre Dame football defensive coach.

The neighbor told WSBT several children and a woman made it safely out of the home.

Our reporter at the scene says he heard additional shots fired after his arrival. There is very little information confirmed at this time. Stay with us for updates.

Were the children and woman already out of the house? That's what I want to know!
August 12th, 2011 at 3:42 PM ^
"they made it safely out of the house"

So yes they are. I think you can probably connect the dots at what he could have shot at. (complete speculation). Doesn't sound good though.
August 12th, 2011 at 3:41 PM ^
Well, good thing we didn't hire him as our DB coach. As I recall, he really wanted the job.
August 12th, 2011 at 3:43 PM ^
But yeah probably for the best we didnt look at him as a db coach.
August 12th, 2011 at 4:05 PM ^
I admit to having the same first thought, but in the end, that's way less important right now than the potential loss of life or whatever else is going on with Corwin. He had a strong connection to Michigan for a while, and in recent years has been dickish about us (negative recruiting, bitching about not getting the db job), but it is always sad to see someone who was associated with our program go down like this.
August 12th, 2011 at 3:44 PM ^
Unfortunately he will be sitting in prison shortly. Hopefully he doesn't pull the trigger on his head
August 12th, 2011 at 10:37 PM ^
Is there any sort of filter on that brain of your's or do just shit out whatever retarded thought you have for everyone to read in public forums?
August 12th, 2011 at 3:45 PM ^
Unemployed (out of football at least) and the fact that repeated head trauma can lead to depression does not sound good. I hope this ends as well as it possibly can.
August 12th, 2011 at 4:39 PM ^
The stuff with Dave Duerson (who played at Notre Dame and then for the Bears and others) started with a domestic violence arrest and he continued going downhill until killing himself and asking that his brain be studied. Hope this isn't another similar situation.

Google "Legacy Institute" or "Chris Nowinski."
August 12th, 2011 at 4:37 PM ^
Seth: That's not going to be good for business.
Jerry: That's not going to be good for anybody.
(No Seinfeld fans out there? Just trying to lighten the otherwise bummer of a mood.)
August 12th, 2011 at 6:54 PM ^
That was the Kenny Rogers episode, with the fake fur hats.
August 12th, 2011 at 3:48 PM ^
Despite the ND work, I still love me some Cornflakes.
August 12th, 2011 at 3:49 PM ^
Maybe he was shooting his car.
(Richard Pryor, anybody?)
/s
Hopefully this ends without anyone getting hurt.
August 12th, 2011 at 4:10 PM ^
No wait, that was Shonte Peoples.
August 12th, 2011 at 3:54 PM ^
Oh Cornflakes...what the hell are you doing?
August 12th, 2011 at 3:55 PM ^
Is Michael Taylor playing the Al Cowlings role?
August 12th, 2011 at 4:45 PM ^
Can't be right about ANYTHING, can he?
August 12th, 2011 at 3:55 PM ^
I might go take a drive by that house now instead
August 12th, 2011 at 4:06 PM ^
Maybe he had Shonte Peoples over to visit.....
(For those of you who were at UM when those guys were, this would make sense)
Hope things turn out okay. Always liked the guy even when he worked for ND and was mildly disappointed he didn't latch on with our new staff.
August 12th, 2011 at 4:10 PM ^
Sorry, I couldn't resist.
I hope he does not hurt himself or anyone else.
August 12th, 2011 at 4:13 PM ^
Especially when out of work.
August 12th, 2011 at 4:35 PM ^
That statement is one step away from "everybody kills people." I guess its technically true, but come on.
August 12th, 2011 at 8:09 PM ^
Really insightful contribution to this thread. But I guess when you post 100 times in a day you're not going to win them all.
August 12th, 2011 at 4:14 PM ^
I don't usually read comments at the bottom of web stories, but this one made me laugh:
"Good thing he isn't actively with the team. He could get suspended right up until game 1 for this. "
August 12th, 2011 at 4:27 PM ^
Very clever indeed.
August 12th, 2011 at 5:29 PM ^
I saw that too. In the midst of a dreadful story, I actually found myself feeling guilty for LOL'ing at that comment.

A cached version of his Wikipedia page, which showed up in a google search, identified today as his day of death, with a reference to the SWAT team incident. However, his current wikipedia page mentions none of this -- probably because we really don't know anything yet.
It is always interesting to see the first edits on Wikipedia after a suddent event. However, those first edits are often not consistent with the facts.
I wish him and his family well at this time.
August 12th, 2011 at 5:28 PM ^
What I take from your post, is this: WIKIPEDIA CAN PREDICT THE FUTURE !!!
Wow, I didn't know that. I just thought Wikipedia was the only website that is always 100% accurate. Well, perfectly accurate one-hundred percent accurate 60% of the time.
August 12th, 2011 at 5:35 PM ^
Uh, no. What I am saying is that early reports are often wrong. That has been true throughout history. Wikipedia is no different. In fact, I noticed that Wikipedia editors had retracted any "news" that wasn't verified, which is admirable.
Wikipedia haters are similar to blog haters who want there voracity verified. That said, early reports on Wikipedia (and anywhere else) have to be taken with many grains of salt.

For a writer it's akin to Tim's prewritten Hello posts.

I remember I pulled up New Orleans' Wikipedia page as the Katrina flooding was wreaking havoc upon that city, and the first edits read "New Orleans was a major city in the Southeastern United States that was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in August 2005..."

Kind of a strong reaction to Michigan not getting Armani Reeves, he's not even our DB Coach!

Crazy stuff. Hopefully everyone makes it out of this situation safely.

Latest is that Brown is still in the home and they're shutting off the power...from @RadioCarl
August 12th, 2011 at 7:00 PM ^
Come out and surrender or your fridge is gonna smell somethin terrible.
August 12th, 2011 at 6:01 PM ^
Yes the Police have cut power to the house.
August 12th, 2011 at 7:01 PM ^
Both entrances to the neighborhood are blocked off, with two squad cars at each entrance. They're not letting anyone into the neighborhood, even those who live there, so anyone with a car has to park it on the grass on the outside of the neighborhood. It looked like the police are taking plate numbers and asking where the people parking their cars live too, It I couldn't see inside the neighborhood for too long, but it looked like the power people were still in there somewhere. That's all I could really see with a quick drive by.
