What current targets didn’t sign anywhere?
I didn’t see a post about what players that Michigan is targeting that didn’t sign a LOI today. Who all is left out there that will be signing in February? This info may have been in the Dudek thread, but the comments went to shit right away instead of discussing available players so I stopped scrolling.

There was a whole post on the front page.
TARGETS NOT COMMITTING TODAY
DT RAYSHAUN BENNY (MI, 4*, MSU commit). Benny was a longtime Michigan lean who committed to MSU after the loss. Lately Michigan seems to have made up ground and convinced him not to sign just yet.
DT GEORGE ROOKS (NJ, 4*). Rooks is visiting Penn State tomorrow. Recently BC joined M and PSU atop his recruitment, which has been quiet. The hope is he waits until after the New Year.
LB commit JAYDON HOOD (FL, 4*, commit). Still hasn't visited Michigan, plans to get up to Ann Arbor, still talks to other schools but currently expected to sign with Michigan in February if all goes well.
CB CEYAIR WRIGHT (CA, 4.5*). He's a USC lean with ND #2 after a visit there, but Wright has a couple of friends on Michigan's team and visited for that self-organized Wisconsin get-together the class made. Wright plans to make his announcement when the Army Game would have been played, January 2, when hopefully things will be more stable.
Edit: Hood signed today. I just copied this from the other post from earlier today. Sorry for the confusion.

Well shit.
December 16th, 2020 at 11:10 PM ^
No worries. There were a few posts on the front page that went up quick and moved others down.
December 16th, 2020 at 11:17 PM ^
Thanks, yo. I was going to use that excuse but I just went with “well shit”.
December 17th, 2020 at 1:23 PM ^
You're welcome!
December 16th, 2020 at 11:14 PM ^
You have been absolved of your posting sin due to this comment.
December 17th, 2020 at 8:54 AM ^
Ding! Ding! Ding! We now have a new MGoBlog catchphrase. Anytime someone makes an obvious mistake or idiotic comment it's "well shit."
As a general use catchphrase it sure beats "user name checks out."
December 17th, 2020 at 11:08 AM ^
Yes, but we wouldn't be mgoblog without a punctuation comment.
"Well, shit..."
Isn't "well shit" a septic field?
December 17th, 2020 at 12:05 PM ^
.
Such as in, "My neighbors are probably going to have a somewhat crappy Christmas after having to spend a shit-ton of money this week on a failed well shit system in their backyard".
True story, BTW.
December 17th, 2020 at 1:38 PM ^
Well, shit ....
December 16th, 2020 at 11:16 PM ^
Nice summary regardless. Thanks man!
December 16th, 2020 at 11:17 PM ^
I thought Hood signed today? Or should I just stop drinking and go to bed?
December 16th, 2020 at 11:18 PM ^
Hood did sign today. He wasn't expected to and ended up being a pleasant surprise
December 16th, 2020 at 11:19 PM ^
Hood signed. Sorry I just copied this from the other post that was put up this afternoon.
December 17th, 2020 at 12:02 AM ^
As others indicated, he signed. My advice is to keep drinking however.
December 16th, 2020 at 11:22 PM ^
Feels like Benny might be gettable; not sure about Rooks but one never knows. Hood signing was a nice surprise and shows some faith in the program by recruits.
December 16th, 2020 at 11:24 PM ^
Definitely a nice surprise. Most of the recruits have more faith in the program than many posters.
December 16th, 2020 at 11:27 PM ^
It seems like a lot will depend on our defensive hires. I have to believe at least Nua, Brown, and Shoop are gone. I guess we might wait to fire them, but Somerville backing out on Nua seems like a pretty strong statement that he's a dead man walking.
December 17th, 2020 at 9:34 AM ^
Yeah, probably not great. It would be weird if they pulled in Benny and Rooks almost in spite of it all, but splitting those two would feel nice.
December 17th, 2020 at 9:07 AM ^
I think Benny is very much someone we can still land in this class. He would be a very nice addition to close out with
December 17th, 2020 at 1:13 PM ^
The fact that both Rooks and Benny did not sign with anyone is a very good sign that they are strongly considering Michigan but want to see how the coaching situation works out. The depth chart is so thin it's a miracle that quality DTs are not flocking to Michigan's door. Meanwhile we should putting up massive billboards in the transfer portal because even solid recruits need at least two years before they are ready.

DT Victory Vaka who was once a Texas A&M commit didn't sign today
December 17th, 2020 at 12:26 AM ^
Never heard of him, but I looked Vaka up out of curiosity. 6-2, 350 DT out of the LA area in CA.
Decent offer list, including UM, but no offer from either USC or UCLA.
Judging from his photo, he looks like he might be Pacific Islander, perhaps Samoan. I know some here thought that Nua's PI background might provide an "in" with Samoan players, but that hasn't really materialized yet, if it was a thing at all to begin with.
December 17th, 2020 at 1:29 AM ^
At 350 lbs, that's a lot of football player to be occupying blocker(s).
Just what our next defensive coordinator will need!
December 17th, 2020 at 6:04 AM ^
We were hard after Vaka earlier in, he was a top ten DT recruit at one point, last time I checked he was in the mid 30s and we had cooled on him before he committed but I’d go after him and Pius Odjugo just to get some more beef up front
December 17th, 2020 at 7:54 AM ^

Nua really tricked us on that one...well played sir. I hope to face your shitty d-lines one day in the near future as an opponent. But, in all seriousness best of luck to the fella as he's likely moving on. He seemed like a good dude who just wasn't successful enough to live up to our standards. Hopefully it's a good growing opportunity for him to have success elsewhere, albeit hopefully not against us.
December 17th, 2020 at 10:07 AM ^
Don't be surprised when it comes out that certain higher ups vetoed the PacIsl's DL that Nua was recruiting. "Didn't fit our system" is what they said.
December 17th, 2020 at 11:08 AM ^
Speculation?
December 17th, 2020 at 11:11 AM ^
By “higher-ups” do you mean Don Brown? Harbaugh? Warde Manuel? Mark Schlissel?
December 17th, 2020 at 12:10 PM ^
I dunno, but it sounds like the m.o. of Dave Brandon.
Anyone seen him lurking in the Ann Arbor area lately?
December 17th, 2020 at 12:19 AM ^
Go HARD after those two DTs. Promise playing time galore. It wouldn't be a promise, it would be fact.
December 17th, 2020 at 8:45 AM ^
Seriously, how do you not go all in on those guys? Unless you don't think their grades would work out, there is no reason to not throw every crootin' trick in the book at them.
December 17th, 2020 at 1:43 PM ^
Go hard for the CB, too!
December 17th, 2020 at 9:32 AM ^
I think it's a good sign that Benny did not sign yesterday. Rooks, I would assume, would commit to PSU today or shortly after as he's visiting them I believe. But Benny is probably our best bet. Hopefully we sign a good DL coach and he has a couple available prospects he knows as well.
December 17th, 2020 at 2:16 PM ^
Supposedly Ben Van Sumeran has a brother who is a beast DT in the 2022 class (?). That's another must-get from the state of Michigan.
December 18th, 2020 at 8:52 PM ^
2022 DT Alex Van Sumeren is already committed to Michigan. Just have to hang on to him, as other programs are sniffing around, including Alabama.

Rumors flying around that Michigan was his first choice, but he couldn't academically qualify. Then he was interested in OSU, but he couldn't academically qualify there either. That's why he's suddenly so interested in Ole Miss (also Partridge is great at recruiting NJ)
December 17th, 2020 at 11:10 AM ^
That’s sad. Bummer that some of these kids can’t qualify for the places they want to go, not that it’s anyone else’s fault or anything. But, man, when you don’t academically qualify to shit in a cooler...woof
December 17th, 2020 at 1:44 PM ^
Many years ago I dated a girl who flunked out of OSU. I also dated a girl who flunked out of MSU.
