What colors to wear for Saturday's hockey game
OK, kind of a lame Forum topic but this Saturday's game will be the first UM hockey game I've ever attended. With UM being the lower seed, I'm guessing that means UM is the 'away' team and will wear light (white or maize) sweaters. Will UM fans try to emulate the team and wear the same color or doesn't it matter?
They wore blue as the lower seed against NMU. Home team wears light colors.
I don't think you can ever go wrong with Maize, especially b/c the beavers are green from what I remember.
This is the NCAA - home team wears light colors. UM is a #3 seed, so we will be required to wear the dark (blue) in every game that we are the worst seed. If we play Ala-Huntsville we'll be able to wear Maize if we want. My guess is as long as UM is in the tournament - we'll be in the Blue.
Is this a trick question?
Blue................. 40
Maize................ 39
White................ 19
Scarlet and Gray..... 2
don't even think about wearing a jersey...
I'm 22 year-old senior at Michigan. Are you saying I can't wear my jersey?
Sorry man, gotta trade that thing in for a gameday polo.
/sarcasm
For example of sarcasm tag, see above.
He was making fun of a post by the Big House Blog.
See previous board forum: Semi OT: Big House Blog does not like your jersey
Not that I am 21 yet, but I have no plans to cease my jersey wearing at this point of my life. Why must I stop displaying my team loyalty because I'm older?
What a fashion faux-pas. Can you imagine a grown man wearing a jersey?
Also if it doesn't have a giant Nike or Adidas logo, forget it.
Thank you for telling us what we can and can't do.
I'm 24 and I bought an authentic Forcier jersey last year. Is that lame?

Does this apply to my 1998 Michigan Jersey with the National Championship patch?
Because it is a National Treasure.
National Treasure?!
Either works. We have worn maize on the road from time time, and especially for the tournament that possibility exists, but don't sweat it either way.
I just pulled up the NCAA rulebook. It specifies for regular-season games (and it makes that differentiation clear), if the home team agrees, a road team can wear a "light-colored" jersey. It defines "light-colored" as being white, gold, yellow, etc. If there is no agreement with the home team, the road team wears dark.
So, theoretically, in the regular season, this is true. And has happened. For the tournament, however, it seems that the lower-seed team wears dark, and that's that.
I'd wear Michigan gear. Also, pants.
Pants are overrated
We're the low seed, so we'll be in blue. Whether I make it to the game or not, I'll be in my maize Michigan shirt with my maize and blue track jacket on. Its done us right against LSSU/State/NMU/Miami, so I can't change now.
definitely maize. stands out x10 better than the blues. looks way cooler to have an arena full of maize than blue too
I have an Indian friend who says if you've got some skin tone, wear white/maize. If you're a honkey like me, wear blue.
Have some respect in the presence of royalty!
We are the visiting (lower seeded) team. BSU is 2, right?
Thanks All. Yes, UM is the lower seed. I keep getting mixed up with the NHL where you used to wear your colors (dark sweaters) on the road (an awesome tradition now dead & gone). Basically, I can't go wrong (I have blue, maize, white & gray UM sweatshirts).
sarcasm Apparently I'm too old to wear my jersey..... /sarcasm
Now that it's spring, you are free to wear white again.
(But you should wear maize or blue.)
