What colors to wear for Saturday's hockey game

Submitted by Bronco648 on
OK, kind of a lame Forum topic but this Saturday's game will be the first UM hockey game I've ever attended. With UM being the lower seed, I'm guessing that means UM is the 'away' team and will wear light (white or maize) sweaters. Will UM fans try to emulate the team and wear the same color or doesn't it matter?

This is the NCAA - home team wears light colors. UM is a #3 seed, so we will be required to wear the dark (blue) in every game that we are the worst seed. If we play Ala-Huntsville we'll be able to wear Maize if we want. My guess is as long as UM is in the tournament - we'll be in the Blue.

Either works. We have worn maize on the road from time time, and especially for the tournament that possibility exists, but don't sweat it either way.

I just pulled up the NCAA rulebook. It specifies for regular-season games (and it makes that differentiation clear), if the home team agrees, a road team can wear a "light-colored" jersey. It defines "light-colored" as being white, gold, yellow, etc. If there is no agreement with the home team, the road team wears dark. So, theoretically, in the regular season, this is true. And has happened. For the tournament, however, it seems that the lower-seed team wears dark, and that's that.

We're the low seed, so we'll be in blue. Whether I make it to the game or not, I'll be in my maize Michigan shirt with my maize and blue track jacket on. Its done us right against LSSU/State/NMU/Miami, so I can't change now.

Thanks All. Yes, UM is the lower seed. I keep getting mixed up with the NHL where you used to wear your colors (dark sweaters) on the road (an awesome tradition now dead & gone). Basically, I can't go wrong (I have blue, maize, white & gray UM sweatshirts). sarcasm Apparently I'm too old to wear my jersey..... /sarcasm
