We alums were excited that our AD would for the first time ever open up the checkbook. However, I guess that is not the case. I guess we want to be the red headed step child of the B1G.

At least I am proud of my physics degree from Purdue.

They could open up the checkbook and try to land a splashy name, but how long would that take? PU isn't out-spending a whole lot of teams - even with B1G money. And while they're getting shot down by all the cheerleaders, the braniac in the marching band blossoms into a smokin hot brunette who grows up to own her own business, digs football, and loves wings n beer slips away.

Purdue's only hope is to find some young niche coach who can actually coach football, have a few good years and then leave for a better job.

That's the ONLY way.

Hiring a big name does nothing for Purdue.

So you go Les Miles, now what? You really think that's the answer?

You think kids are going to line up to play football for Les Miles at Purdue? Sure, you've got a couple of 3* kids who can play and you got a 4* that you hail as the "next"...and now you're a 5-7 team with a few draft picks.

No, you need someone to build a culture. Then that guy will leave and you pay his top assistant and pray you can keep it going.

Opening up the checkbook is not the route for Purdue...it's the route for a MSU or PSU type.

Great hire for Purdue. Stupid for Brohm who had potential to be an up and coming midmajor coach. Instead he chose the easy route to the money and career suicide. He'll be back in the Sun Belt or in the MAC in 5 years.

FUCK me...since graduating from Purdue in 2005, I have been to 3 games. Two while Tiller was coaching and once last season. God we suck. Our AD is cheap mother fucker. From all I heard from the Purdue blogs was that our AD refused to open up the purse strings for Les Miles to hire his own assistants. What a fucking joke. I would agree to going FCS at this point. it is a fucking joke at Purdue.

WKU has been a power in CUSA the last couple of seasons and challenged Power 5 schools (albeit lower level ones). He knows the area and has worked from limited resources. And he runs an offense that's something from this century, as opposed to Miles.

I'm wondering if Eastern's coach if worth taking a shot on right now for a lower level P5 team (like Purdue). He's done a great job at Eastern so far, but I suppose it could be a flash in the pan

It's the truth.

Western is a much better program right now. There is no reason to leave a Top 25 team to go to Purdue.

He's better off trying to make Western his Boise St. and going to his Washington or making it his Houston and going to his Texas than going to Purdue.

Western is a MUCH better job. That's what people don't get. If he can go undefeated at WMU this year. And even if there's nothing out there he likes and he goes 1-2 more season at WMU with no more than 1-2 losses. He'll be able to get a big time job, he'll be the new Tom Herman minus as many big P5 wins.

That's still good enough to land a mid-level P5 job in his sleep.
