We need Desmond to speak up

Submitted by doubleblue2 on November 7th, 2023 at 7:14 PM

I know it can’t be easy for him and he’s already seen as a somewhat homer but I really wish he could push the narrative to what Michigan has done is in the end no different than the others.  And that colluding is far worse. Connor may be good but I’m fairly certain having 2 or 3 different teams and perspectives makes a better result.

Anyone have Desmond‘s email. /s or maybe not.

Meanwhile, David Schuster, continues his William Wallace impersonation and takes no prisoners in pursuit of thumping EVERYONE (particularly Thamel- again LOL) on twitter.  Quite comical, worth the browse.  Also, he gave a shout out to MGoBlog.  This Michigan Man deserves our support.  Follow him on Twitter:

Thanks to all of the new twitter followers, particularly those who are here via the one and only http://mgoblog.com. I usually cover politics + legal issues for http://tyt.com. But occasionally, I'll do something like this. Enjoy! https://youtube.com/watch?v=pUVJoXdKodk…

“I can’t imagine (commissioner) Greg Sankey — or Mike Slive before him — allowing themselves to be publicly bullied into circumventing the NCAA investigative process by coaches and ADs who insist on immediate punishment before a full investigation is conducted,” said Howard, who has been an analyst for ESPN’s “College GameDay” since 2005. “Especially if a potential national championship is on the line for the conference.

You tell em Desmond!

Ya, can you believe the conference would cannibalize itself like that? I have to wonder, if Michigan decided to leave the conference, what would happen if they went independent. Do they have what it takes to be super successful?

To keep all of the television and bowl/playoff money could payoff in a big way. There are about a dozen athletic depts. that got rich from being associated with UM, and now it’s a witch hunt to get Harbaugh. We need Harbaugh to lead us into a new era. Can we get whatever ND is getting plus $1?

Nothing he could say would make a difference.  ESPN is so deep into pushing their own garbage narrative and getting their mindless shills like Rece Davis and Pete Thamel to propagate that narrative that nothing Desmond says would change anything.  And the people watching ESPN for this coverage are not open to having their minds changed, they just want an echo chamber to validate their belief that Michigan is the lone renegade cheating program in the otherwise clean and scandal-free sport that is college football.

Desmond needs to keep cool and let everybody have their say until something illegal comes out. His time to talk will come. Is today's news an indication of poor sportsmanship and collusion? Yes. But it's not technically illegal. What Rutgers, OSU and Purdue did is what I'm sure that SEC teams have done to Saban teams for years.

What Connor did, while not too different, is still unheard of (for now) and bad enough that even the most outspoken Michigan backers think he should get show cause penalties.

How are they getting Michigan signs then? I doubt it's from memory.

Also, it's advanced scouting isn't it? For Purdue to get Michigan signs from OSU.

I'm just asking I have no clue but it all seems the same. Actually what OSU did seems worse because they would've benefit specifically if we lost to Purdue/TCU.

This shit is crazy...

There’s rumors that Schiano/Rutgers & Day/Ohio State actually asked the B1G if they would be allowed to share signs with Purdue before the Big Ten Championship - similar to how they asked the CFP in 2021 if they could scout the other semi-final game - and were supposedly given an “it’s probably okay” from the conference at that time.

Unheard of? What about Bret Zdebski and Sam McGrath?

Now why would this Sam McGrath fella, a "defensive quality control" staffer for ohio state, be sending Brent Zdebski, an ohio state staffer who previously worked for Jim Knowles at OSU, a venmo transaction with a clover emoji shortly before their game against Notre Dame? Your guess is as good as mine, but sucknut fans wanted our entire football program cancelled over similar screenshots.

So basically the argument is that "it's different, therefore it's worse" ?

The rule that is in question reads as follows:

Off-campus, in-person scouting of future opponents (in the same season) is prohibited, except as provided in Bylaws 11.6.1.1 and 11.6.1.2

As far as we know -

Connor Stalions paid someone for raw footage of the sideline of future opponents, which he then took and deciphered on his own. Big Ten School X received scouting material of a future opponent from people who watched Michigan in advance and in-person of Big Ten School X's game with Michigan.

Which scenario do you feel is more likely to have technically broken the rule?

Unfortunately, rational thinking doesn't qualify as ammo.  Stalions broke a cost saving rule that has no penalty associated with it.  The NCAA stated that the breaking of the rule provided little or no advantage.  Max punishment should be probation.

Instead, we get death penalty, wins discounted, suspensions, and crime of the century with endangerment to opposing players when no one can point a single play where it appeared that Michigan knew what was coming more than any other student of the game.

CJ Stroud threw for an incredible number of yards in both loses to Michigan, but scheme kept him out of the end zone (that and Aiden Hutchinson.)  And everyone knows that OSU can no longer run the ball (why is a mystery to me.)

Honestly I wish halfway through the show Desmond would just take off his mic and say fuck you I quit and walk off the show. I know he would never do that but it would be amazing if he did
