Visitors this weekend and a new in-state offer
It's not quite the elite weekend of visitors from the past couple weekends, but Michigan brought in some noteworthy high school prospects this week/weekend. The list includes 2024 top-100 safety Jordon Johnson-Rubell and mammoth Virginia tackle Fletcher Westphal, who's #191 overall.
The list also includes 2026 Dearborn (MI) Divine Child athlete Marcello Vitti, who has visited several times and has now been offered. Akron, CMU, and Maryland have also offered. Vitti is 5'11" and 170 lbs. As just a freshman in high school, it's unclear exactly which position he will play in college. He plays a lot of running back, but he could be a running back, slot receiver, or safety at the next level.
The last player Michigan got from Divine Child was an end-of-the-bench kid named Aidan Hutchinson.
Here's the visitors list if you want to check it out (LINK).
We’ve got George Washington III in basketball so we need James Madison II in football. Let’s keep our eyes out for any Thomas Jeffersons and Andrew Jacksons as well.
Yeah, I don’t think we want any of the baggage that comes with Andrew Jackson. Best to let him shine elsewhere…
Well I figured that was a more likely name for a prospective UM athlete than Martin Van Buren or Millard Fillmore!
The only Michigan player I know of who shared a name with a U.S. president was Gerald Ford.
I think Michigan signed a player named William H. Harrison at one point, but he only lasted a month.
Whatever happened to that guy after he left Michigan?
He fell down some steps, and that basically ended his career.
How about instead of getting recruits named after dead presidents.... we just get our NIL to give these recruits a whole bunch of dead presidents!!!

I thought you were going to suggest getting those named after live ones...

Leslie King had a nice Michigan football career before going on to a career in politics.

Praying for a Calvin Coolidge.
I dunno beating redcoats in Louisiana (Superdome) has some utility...
It’s weird how there are loose name themes over the years. Sam Sword, Glen Steele, and Jarret Irons had a metallurgic theme and somehow Ty Law seemed to fit in there.
the years where every DB had the word Hill or Green in their name.
Now Presidents??

We need some Taft sized guys on our O-line.
Taft size, maybe, but definitely not Taft shaped.
Taft's pad level though. He had the get off to take on a charging bull moose and win. You want that at guard.
clarence, you may be thinking of taft's kind-of contemporary and immediate predecessor to the presidency, teddy roosevelt, he of the 'bull moose' party?
either way though, i'm guessing if you told taft there was a pastry on the ground right behind the lineman in front of him, taft was low man on that collision.

Any Van Buren Boys available?

Since we’re going Dutch, let’s also scan rosters for any available Roosevelts.

Michigan offered the great great great grandson Michael Van Buren from Baltimore (MD) St. Frances.

We just need to show them the Benjamins.
Watch out for those guys. They rob banks.
They didn't care much for Ohio State quarterbacks IIRC.
If only Bobby Kanka were from Kankakee.
Donovan Moorhead – QB – Gates Mills (OH) Hawken: Moorhead is a 6’3″, 200 lb. prospect with offers from Buffalo and UT-Martin. He’s the son of Akron head coach Joe Moorhead. He visited Michigan last weekend.
But no offer from Akron? Must be something wrong if his own dad doesn't want to coach him. 😊
Coaching your son at any level above little league or flag football can be a challenge for both the dad and son.

Please - no more players with short arms!
End-of-the-bench-press kid named Aidan Hutchinson.
I wonder what happened to this kid?????🤔
C'mon Jeremiah Beasley! I really want him to make the right choice here. I will buy that jersey!
