Vince Marrow turned down Harbaugh because of OSU family ties

Submitted by BlueCube on

This is per cleveland.com.The story says it's one reason but his wife and many other in=laws are OSU alums.

Edit: Hard to believe he would be such an idiot to let that stand in the way of a career advancement opportunity. Glad he didn't come.

maybe we should read into this a little more so we can definitively declare that marrow is, in fact, the spawn of satan himself.

or maybe, just maybe, instead of disparaging a man's character for the flimsiest of reasons, we could just let this shit go and be happy as hell that jim fucking harbaugh is now the head coach of michigan footbal?

I don't think any UM fans, players, recruits, coaches, etc. will miss not having him on the staff. That's my opinion anyway.

He better hope his Kentucky gamble works out.  Their fans are starting to believe that they are an actual SEC team and not just along for the ride.

They are not going to settle for too many more 5-7, 6th place SEC East Division finishes.

This guy just needs to shut up about us and worry about MSU snake oiling his own recruits.

Oh and if you're putting your career potential on hold cuz of sports rivalries... well then that is just hilarious and stupid.

If his family ties to Ohio State were that important, he should have thought of that before he interviewed and wasted everybody's time.

The more he talks, the happier I am that he "turned us down" and stayed at UK.

That is unfair speculation on my part, but I couldn't resist.

A couple more serious thoughts. I don't know much about the late Millie Schembechler except her death was too soon, relatively quick and from a very rare type of cancer. I know even less about Ann Moeller except for rumors. Did either of them come from "OSU" families? I also think it is a change in the marriage dynamic since the days of Bo and even Gary that husbands consider the impact of career choices on their wives.

I think if the team names were reversed, some of you might have a different opinion.

Finally, perhaps he figures OSU assistants will be moving on and maybe he has a shot in a year or two on Urban's staff and did this interview with an eye towards that objective. But I do agree it seems a little shortsighted and you are probably better off with someone who wants to be there.

A first grade teacher explains to her class that she is a Buckeye fan. She asks her students to raise their hands if they were too.

Not really knowing what a Buckeye fan was but wanting to be like their teacher, their hands explode into the air like fleshy fireworks.

There is, however, one exception. A girl named Kristen has not gone along with the crowd.

The teacher asks her why she has decided to be different. "Because I'm not a Buckeye fan."

Then, asks the teacher, what are you? "Why I'm a proud Michigan Wolverine fan," boasts the little girl.

The teacher is a little perturbed now, her face slightly red.

She asks Kristen why she is a Wolverine fan. "Well, my mom and dad are Wolverine fans, so I'm a Wolverine fan too."

The teacher is now angry.

"That's no reason," she says loudly. "What if your mom was a moron, and your dad was a moron. What would you be then?"

After a pause, and a smile, Kristen says... "Then I'd be a Buckeye fan."
