Someday, people who speak ill of polygamists will be looked back upon and viewed with the same contempt as those who oppose gay marriage. Consenting adults have the right to do as they choose, without fearing Judeo-Chrstian traditionalists who wish to act as society's moral police. If they are happy, why discriminate against them?

When it comes to polygamy - you ain't seen nothing until you've been to southern Utah AKA Dixie.
August 25th, 2015 at 10:06 AM ^
I know that's what southern utes call their area, but tell em there's only one real Dixie - and we don't need sister wives our normal sisters do just fine!

I thought this beer was very underwhelming
August 25th, 2015 at 8:15 AM ^
They now have a nitro one so it's double underwhelming.

Had to log in and upvote just to share my solidarity with other beer (read: stout/porter) lovers who hate beers on nitro.

"Wives" and their kids get public assistance since they are not actually wives in the legal sense and therefore do not claim any legal stake in the "husbands" income other than a bit of child support. It's quite a little racket.
August 25th, 2015 at 9:02 AM ^
making claims. Quite the racket

I've often thought the same -- one wife is challenging enough! But, in fact, it makes it easier because it plays the wives off each other. If one wife isn't happy, that isn't his problem. He just goes to another wife. And all the wives know it. Quite a neat system of manipulation and control. But I wouldn't exactly call it love.

Polygamy makes perfect sense to me (from a man's perspective at least). In the mood for sex, but your wife isn't? No problem, go visit #2. Wife #3 isn't a good cook? No problem, #1 is.

please don't knock it, until you've tried it. ..

I know some people in polyamorous/open relationships. It seems to work out fine for them, but a common dynamic I've seen is there's a "main" couple with people joining, but more loosely.

I have to try to separate the people from the art they create. I think he is probably a egomaniacal sociopath, but I also think he makes really good music - both his own and producing for others. Don't like the man but he makes good things, that's probably true for a lot of people in history.
Edit: did I reply to a deleted comment? :(

Thats actually a pretty good beer, it's especially good after skiing. Which is, I imagine, the point. Personally, I like that there's a sense of humor about it.

Drove past Utah? Past Salt Lake City? Because Utah is not exactly a flat state.
August 25th, 2015 at 3:22 AM ^
I think he's referring to the lake being flat. But Stephen - do you know of any hilly lakes?
August 25th, 2015 at 6:33 AM ^
We're in Nebraska now, fyi (speaking of flat). 21 hours into a 33 hour trip.
August 25th, 2015 at 9:31 AM ^
I grew up in Northeastern Nevada and have made that drive more times than I can count. The Salt Flats are SUPER flat and extremely boring, once you get to SLC itself, things get more interesting, nut there's about 100-120 miles of mountains way off in the distance.

Why would our band not go to Penn State? That doesn't make any sense. It's not too far away because Penn State's band came to the Big House just last year, and has many times before.
August 25th, 2015 at 10:18 AM ^
The MMB has gone before in the '90s and early '00s, but since then Penn State has been reluctant to allocate the space in the stadium the MMB would need. They don't want to seat them on the sideline and they would rather sell tickets for the seats in the stands that the MMB would sit in.
August 25th, 2015 at 10:26 AM ^
That seems incredibly rude given we allow their band to come. Hackett should refuse to accomodate them unless they accomodate us.
August 25th, 2015 at 7:47 AM ^
Really? There is nothing on the MMB schedule that shows they are attending. Band week starts today. That really isn't enough time to set the ranks and prepare a show for the road.

Nope. They aren't.

I always like the view from Salt Lake, especially from up above the avenues or on Mt. Olympus. Good times.
As an aside - you crave the amazing spring fed lakes of Michigan when in the desert there. Man I missed Higgins and Torch lake. Rant over. I wish I were going to the game.
August 25th, 2015 at 7:30 AM ^
Definitely crave freshwater as the salty air build deposits around your eyes in the heat. I got strand on the highway between salt flats for 3 hours waiting on a tow truck. Yikes.

Yes they are beautiful. But they don't have great sandy shores and sandy bottoms. You miss that. We used to go to Strawberry but it's not the same.
