Video from Michigan sideline of “Jump Around”

This was so surprising- and awesome. You gonna get up for the fourth quarter? We will match that energy. From then on the momentum was with the Wolverines.
October 2nd, 2021 at 7:24 PM ^
I knew they were going to win when I saw that during the broadcast.
you could just tell how fired up they were
October 2nd, 2021 at 7:29 PM ^
I figured the game was over after Hill knocked Mertz out, but it was nice to watch our guys in that moment, like they knew they were gonna kick their ass and nothing UW could do about it
October 2nd, 2021 at 8:11 PM ^
That was so fun to see. They took over home field advantage.
October 2nd, 2021 at 7:27 PM ^
Anyone remember in the 2018 game (last home game vs Wisky with fans) when were blowing them out in the 4th qtr and they played the "Jump Around" as a troll? Well, this was even better. Cool to see the UM fans there today getting into it as well.

I took some video of it from across the stadium. They were jumping around for the entire segment. It was pure unadulterated fun. Remember that the score was still only 20-10 at this point, so it’s not like we were celebrating a total beat down yet. So glad the coaching staff let them live in the moment
October 2nd, 2021 at 8:35 PM ^
We had the same vantage point and totally agree about “letting them live in the moment” comment. What amazed me more about it all was how DEAD the Wisconsin sideline was. It was at that point that “I knew” the game was over. I love how they embraced it and honestly I think they shocked Wisconsin with what they did, Wiscy was looking on in awe like “wow that looks like fun!”

I was sitting behind Michigan’s bench and just before half when it was 13-10 and Wisconsin had just scored they were very confident. I could here them talking to each other, encouraging each other, and saying they had this still. Later in the game when Michigan went up 27-10 after a Wisconsin 4 and out, Aiden talked to each player on D and encouraged them to keep up the intensity and telling them they had done well but it wasn’t over. He is such a great leader. I was also happy to see McGregor sitting next to him the whole game soaking all of his leadership traits in.
October 2nd, 2021 at 7:29 PM ^
Cool. Honestly the TV's got a great look at it. Got me pumped!
October 2nd, 2021 at 7:33 PM ^
Swag!
October 2nd, 2021 at 7:43 PM ^
This was awesome
October 2nd, 2021 at 7:48 PM ^
As a certified, get-off-my-lawn old fuck, this was awesome.
October 2nd, 2021 at 7:51 PM ^
Pack it up pack it in
Let Don begin
Graphic artist of the year
Puts your trash in the recycle bin
Or something
October 2nd, 2021 at 7:56 PM ^
You’re more right than you imagine—all my best award-winning print work ends up in the bin eventually anyhow. It’s humbling.
October 2nd, 2021 at 8:04 PM ^
Agreed. That was cool. Let college kids be college kids at a time like that.
October 2nd, 2021 at 7:50 PM ^
Michigan did "jump up, jump and get down". Right on the Badgers heads - and ribs!
Awesome to watch! Love this team...
Go Blue!!!
October 2nd, 2021 at 7:51 PM ^
That was so fuckin rad.
October 2nd, 2021 at 7:51 PM ^
And with this, the first flicker of warmth reached my cold, BPONE soul . . .
October 2nd, 2021 at 7:53 PM ^
That was a great moment. Pretty cool. I was surprised they played that though.
October 2nd, 2021 at 8:16 PM ^
Surprised they played 'Jump Around'? They do that after the 3rd qtr in every home game! It's tradition! Why would you be surprised about that?
October 2nd, 2021 at 7:54 PM ^
Oh to be young and a wolverine

Oh to be young and a wolverine
October 2nd, 2021 at 8:07 PM ^
On the TV broadcast, it looked like our guys went to the end zone to jump WITH the Badger students.
Sometimes I roll my eyes over how much spotlight this tradition seems to gets covered now, as if it’s the biggest thing in the history of the universe. (Kind of like in the 90s when ESPN would relentlessly showcase the Florida Gator chomp.)
But our guys were really into it and looked happy. So there’s not much to complain about.
October 2nd, 2021 at 8:09 PM ^
“Jump Around” was originally released in 1992....29 years ago. That doesn’t prevent many tens of thousands of 18-22 year olds from going apeshit in Camp Randall while listening to it.
For comparison context: I was a U-M soph in ‘72-‘73. There is no fucking way that any of us would have been jumping around in the stadium like maniacs to a song recorded in 1943.
October 2nd, 2021 at 8:15 PM ^
When the mini band played the Bullwinkle song in front of a student section, we went ape shit crazy! Sometimes they would do a little teaser and move on to the next section...
October 2nd, 2021 at 8:32 PM ^
I listened to the Bullwinkle theme being played by the roving pep band many times in the early ‘70s, but that song was only ten years old—it was from our own childhoods. A far cry from something 29 years old.
October 2nd, 2021 at 8:16 PM ^
No jumping at the big house to Bing Crosby in 1972? You missed out.
October 2nd, 2021 at 8:29 PM ^
LOL
One of my earliest memories of the early ‘70s George Cavender era was listening to “Hello Dolly” at halftime—Revelli would have shit his pants at that.
October 2nd, 2021 at 8:33 PM ^
The mini band would play Deep Purple’s riff Smoke on the Water back in Don’s college days.
I wasn’t quite that far along in my schooling as Don at that point.
3rd grade maybe? ?
October 2nd, 2021 at 8:41 PM ^
I don’t remember the pep band playing “Smoke on the Water” in the early ‘70s. Since you were in the 3rd grade and I was in my 20s, I’m going to go with my recollection.
October 2nd, 2021 at 11:27 PM ^
The band did a bit more a jazz inspired version of it. And except for that one Bo v Woody game where the guy in front of my dad and I smoked a few bowls during the game, I was probably a bit more clear headed during those years; it was the 70s - no one remembers that decade well. ?
October 3rd, 2021 at 7:34 AM ^
Sorry Don, but I distinctly remember hearing "Smoke on the Water" at games in the 70s. Of course that means I'm pretty damn old and can't remember shit so who knows?
October 3rd, 2021 at 1:07 PM ^
I don’t know. I bet there is a few beats out there; just need to be unearthed. I like watching these presumably deceased women dance
October 3rd, 2021 at 1:17 PM ^
This is amazing but if tried in M stadium people gonna get hurt. I’m game for a few pulled muscles and wrenched back
October 2nd, 2021 at 8:14 PM ^
Massive win.
Tremendous to see the energy and the fortitude to continue to just constrict the life out of them.
At half-time, I was nervous - but, when the quarterback went out - I knew we'd romp.
Go Blue.
October 2nd, 2021 at 8:19 PM ^
It looks like Ronnie Bell was jumping on the sidelines too. Around the 20 second mark.
If so, good to see.
October 3rd, 2021 at 1:08 AM ^
Ronnie was coaching AJ all game and was the first to congratulate C. Johnson and Baldwin after their TD’s. He was also there for Baldwin after his two drops to encourage him. He is a class act all the way around.
October 2nd, 2021 at 8:18 PM ^
I saw the bench on the TV and new right then that this is a different team, that Harbaugh is a different coach, than we've seen in previous years. So much fun going on out there!!

it’s what I do
October 2nd, 2021 at 8:39 PM ^
Stuff like this is why college football is the best, so fun
October 2nd, 2021 at 8:46 PM ^
This team is different
October 2nd, 2021 at 8:52 PM ^
I'm sure the message from the staff all week was, "if we're winning at the end of 3, feel free to go crazy."
FWIW, I don't think this would've been the team's reaction had they been behind.
October 3rd, 2021 at 10:34 AM ^
Can you imagine the board’s reaction to this had U-M gone on to lose? HARBAUGH SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN THE TEAM FOCUSED ON FOOTBALL INSTEAD OF LETTING THEM DO THE JUMP AROUND RABBLE RABBLE!
October 2nd, 2021 at 9:04 PM ^
Love seeing Ronnie Bell jump around
October 2nd, 2021 at 9:11 PM ^
Would love to be Thornton Melon and go back to M.
October 2nd, 2021 at 9:21 PM ^
Had to work due to fiscal year end. Missed watching the game, missed posting in the game thread…This brought a smile to my face
Just fantastic to see the team with this energy
Go Blue!!!!!
October 3rd, 2021 at 6:46 AM ^
Our company's fiscal year matches the calendar year, so we did Jump Around on Thursday afternoon at the office with 4 fingers up in the air.
/s, just in case....
October 2nd, 2021 at 9:30 PM ^
That is the way to own an opponent.
October 2nd, 2021 at 9:58 PM ^
That was such a great surprise. Definitely not something I would’ve expected from previous Harbaugh coach teams. They matched Wisconsin’s energy and then some.
