VERY OT: Wimbledon gives us a gift of a matchup.

I don't care how little this matters to the MGoCommunity and I'm not sorry for what I've done!  The masses need to know about this!

Ok, I'll play this juvenile (i.e. - hilarious) game, too:

  • Were they their own ball boys?
  • Are either player sponsored by Head?
  • Looks like Peniston was pretty soft today
  • A big ask for Johnson to go to Round 3 - he's a man, not a machine!

If the match lasted more than 4 hours, I hope they called their doctors.

Looks like a happy ending for Johnson.

Were the forehand or the backhand strokes better?

American men keep rolling along (this is actually a tennis comment, not about the dick joke lol)

Isner, Tiafoe, S. Johnson, Tommy Paul already into the final 32. The bottom half of the Djokovic draw is absolutely wide open- HUGE opportunity for a semi final run.

Brooksby, Nakashima, Cressy v Sock, Giron, Fritz, McDonald still to play their 2nd round matchup.

If there was EVER a year for an American dude to make it to the finals, this would be it, especially on the Nadal half. Nadal is definitely not himself right now.

I've always assumed I had a sufficiently experienced perspective—and a juvenile enough mind—to follow most anything posted on the Blog.

But I guess not. I read this post and couldn't figure out why NotADuck posted this. Had the Brit or the American played for UM? Was there some hidden meaning in Round 2, Court 3? Was it some tennis esoterica?

Fortunately, the experienced—and juvenile—blogosphere is here to school me. Gradually, I got the thrust of the joke.

Looking at the bracket, Tiafoe has an amazing chance to get to the quarterfinals.  He goes against the #38 player (Bublik) next, then most likely #58 player (Goffin) after that.  Tiafoe is ranked 23.

Poor Isner has a tough draw next two matches - he is screwed.

Johnson and Paul both get a chance to beat #9 Norrie.  There is a decent chance one of those could pull off the upset and get to quarters.

Like Tiafoe, Fritz has a REAL good shot at getting to quarters also.  He is ranked 11, next match against #51 Molcan, then will have to beat most likely one of the following 4 (#45 Cressy, #103 Sock, #99 Kubler, unranked Novak).  There is a great chance that it is American vs. American to get into the quarterfinals.  This here is the best bet for an American to get to quarters.

No doubt. If there was ever a time for an American to make a deep run, this is it. Nadal is vulnerable, and there are a ton of American's still left. I'll be sad if Fritz and Cressy meet up; I'm rooting for Cressy- he's my favorite player on tour right now.
