It still makes me a little crazy that I had to learn about Lafayette in American history but Pulaski and Kosciuszko were never mentioned. A lot of things make me crazy though.

More history for you. Robert Kaleski (first generation Polish-Australian) helped develop the Australian cattle dog and wrote the breed standard. Midnight Oil used to put on a good show too. I saw them at WOMAD too many years ago with Peter Gabriel and a bunch of bands I didn't know.

I saw them at one of the free Taste of Chicago concerts maybe 12-15 years ago now, and remember really digging the show. Even then, they were pretty old; I remember there not being too many people there to see them, but toward the end the area started filling in with people arriving to see whatever flavor-of-the-year pop star was scheduled to come on next. I was probably like 27 at the time, and felt like a geyser walking out of there.

I think you meant some of these good poles....

I think it's because our kielbasas are bigger than their wursts!

I don't know why, but I suddenly have a hankering for perogi and a trip to Hamtramck ..

The scenery was outstanding the last time I was there.

Agreed, yum yum!

Dammit! So close to #69....

I'm tired of us being ranked way too high in the preseason. This is good for some motivation.
August 20th, 2015 at 9:38 AM ^
Agree. They are right where they deserve to be until they prove it on the field.

I don't see any problem with the saying "prove it on the field." They're showing or "proving" that they deserve a certain level of praise or recognition. That's a perfectly acceptable use of that word.
August 20th, 2015 at 10:27 AM ^
I think you just proved how pedantic you can be.
I don't think "we can all agree" because most of us have a decent grasp of language and aren't robots trying to figure out how to fit in with people.
August 20th, 2015 at 1:04 PM ^
Um it's just another way of saying actions speak louder than words. It's perfectly fine.

I miss having the longest streak of "Preseason top 25". Otherwise, let's just win some games and turn a lot of heads while we're at it.
August 20th, 2015 at 9:45 AM ^
MSU this year. Look out for that drop.

you can only go up from here. Have to start somewhere. No inflated expectations at #64.

Temple was ranked twice when this was released.
One of the temple rankings has been changed to Kansas State now.
Credibility.

I hope that when the cameras zoom in on our fans at the Utah game the fans shout "we're #64" into it while making 64 with their fingers.

Will you quit saying that!

Pre-season polls are always a crapshoot but this year even moreso for UM which has to be one of the biggest mysteries going into this season...No one knows what to expect from this team.
August 20th, 2015 at 9:41 AM ^
Out of sight, out of mind. Right where we want this team.

at least on paper. Last year was a surprisingly shitty year for them after their strong start. They look to be ranked about right.
August 20th, 2015 at 9:52 AM ^
The ratio of preseason polls to mock drafts is the same as schrute bucks to stanley nickels.
We also have no clue what we're going to get out of the QB, WR, or RB positions. Where exactly should they be ranked?

for the adjectives and prepositions. While most people read it for the nouns and verbs, there are some who prefer the conjunctions, pronouns, adverbs and interjections.

Notables should have also included all of our opponents. Like:
Utah - 43
Oregon St - 98
UNLV - 126
BYU - 38
Maryland - 71
Northwestern - 82
MSU - 9
Minnesota - 34
Rutgers - 76
Indiana - 95
PSU - 28
OSU - 1
The ratings have us going 6-6, which wouldn't be surprising but definitely disappointing.

suprising
August 20th, 2015 at 11:51 AM ^
I think Utah is much better than #43.
