I'm a pretty big fan of the old Australian rock band Midnight Oil, probably in part because I've learned an awful lot about world history trying to figure out what the hell their songs are all about. They have a song called "Kosciuszko;" listening to that song was the first I'd heard that name so I had to go look him up to see who he was. They also have one called "Hercules," which has to do with a French SUBMARINE torpedoing a Greenpeace boat moored in the Auckland harbor.

More history for you. Robert Kaleski (first generation Polish-Australian) helped develop the Australian cattle dog and wrote the breed standard. Midnight Oil used to put on a good show too. I saw them at WOMAD too many years ago with Peter Gabriel and a bunch of bands I didn't know.

I saw them at one of the free Taste of Chicago concerts maybe 12-15 years ago now, and remember really digging the show.  Even then, they were pretty old; I remember there not being too many people there to see them, but toward the end the area started filling in with people arriving to see whatever flavor-of-the-year pop star was scheduled to come on next.  I was probably like 27 at the time, and felt like a geyser walking out of there.

That the only thing worse than using phrases like "product on the field" is the "prove it on the field" lingo? What exactly are they proving? A math solution? Guilt or innocence? It's a football game. It's not a product. It's not a proof. How about just talking about football like it's football. Win the game (ironic since coined in a basketball huddle). Lol.

Pre-season polls are always a crapshoot but this year even moreso for UM which has to be one of the biggest mysteries going into this season...No one knows what to expect from this team.

Lol ...USA Today. We used to read it in HS debate just to see who could find the most grammatical errors ...the Nation's Coloring Book But seems about right to me. MICHIGAN is after all, no Bowling Green or Louisiana-Lafayette!!

The ratio of preseason polls to mock drafts is the same as schrute bucks to stanley nickels.

We also have no clue what we're going to get out of the QB, WR, or RB positions.  Where exactly should they be ranked?

Notables should have also included all of our opponents. Like:

Utah - 43
Oregon St - 98
UNLV - 126
BYU - 38
Maryland - 71
Northwestern - 82
MSU - 9
Minnesota - 34
Rutgers - 76
Indiana - 95
PSU - 28
OSU - 1

The ratings have us going 6-6, which wouldn't be surprising but definitely disappointing.

Guess it does not surprise me. Shaky OL play recently and a mystery at QB....probably a really tough team to analyze going into the season. Hopefully the coaching makes a huge difference and we will jump quick
