University of Colorado changes transfer admin process

So if looks like University of Colorado had a very strict transfer process for accepting credits similar to Michigan. Per this article that all charged as soon as Deon was hired. To those who say we'll never change our transfer process maybe this is as glimmer of hope.

IIRC, for transfer credits, Michigan gives you the course credits, but does not attach the grades. I took a couple summer intro classes at a community college to knock out distribution courses when I was in school, and while they checked off the boxes and I got the credits, that's all I got. It wasn't difficult, but there were limits.

Bando,

I believe that Michigan may allow taking a class at another school to "satisfy" the requirement of completing a class which may be a pre-requisite for higher level classes.

So, let's say you take the equivalent of Econ 101 at another school.  Michigan will recognize that you have completed that class - which is a pre-requisite for a higher level Econ class.  The grade you received at the other school will definitely NOT transfer.  And, the credit for having taken "the equivalent" may also not transfer.   However, the pre-req requirement will have been fulfilled and the student can register for the next level class.

Well, sort of. Yes, they can count for pre-reqs. You can also get the credit for the class. Looking at my transcript right now. My CC transfer credits are right there. No grades, but the credit hours counted. Hence why I was paying a higher bracket of tuition the entire time I was at Michigan--I was at sophomore standing my freshman year.

I can't speak to whether this policy change is right or wrong from the academic side of things, but the perception that this policy could change overnight for football reasons doesn't send a great message for the academic mission of the university.

Im sure this got done because during the process, Deion said Im bringing my son and Travis Hunter with me. Will they be able to transfer their credits? They wanted him bad enough, so now they are in the process of changing their transfer process.

Ideally, kids should be able to transfer credits earned (money already spent) so they don't have spend extra money and go in further debt (non athletes im talking about) taking more classes at the new school just to graduate.

Hopefully it doesn't take waiting for a new coach to be hired for changes to be made.  As that seems to be the precedent for many schools, Michigan included.

The school needs to recognize how the environment has completely changed and the transfer portal is here to stay. The current standard of accepting up to 60 Credit Hours is ridiculous in this time of the Transfer Portal.  I get not accepting all credits esp those from bs filler classes but viable credits need accepted as well as expediting the process for athletics programs.
