...butuka. That was the best performance by a Michigan running back that I have witnessed in person. He was unstoppable, and completely outclassed the Heisman Trophy winner Eddie George (who is maybe the only Ohio State player I have ever liked). Glad I did not leave early for Thanksgiving as many of my fellow students did that year...but there was no way I was going to miss Michigan v Ohio State.

Tremendous back, powerful, stutter-steps then great acceleration, but come on, you could drive a truck through some of those holes in the line. He usually had to beat one linebacker.

I took great joy in shouting his name all over the place.

Some years later I learned that he was not, in fact, a mythical figure, but he was a real college kid who had played football.

The only thing better than the sound of Keith Jackson pronouncing that name was the obvious joy he took in rolling each mellifluous syllable off his tongue.

..were a great Thunder and Ligtning duo from the early 90's...perhaps 'The Drake' and Ty Isaac can be similar to this next year.

I remember Touchdown Timmy's big game like it was yesterday.

this game and it was pure joy... the day started with my and my dad getting to AA early to head over to the golf course to meet up with his friends, as we were about to cross the street to go into the golf course this extremely drunk female OSU fan came up to and said "spell it", i said "spell what?" she responded with a slurry "OHIO", i looked at her and told her to F off...

fast forward a couple of hours, my dad and i get to our seats and there is this OSU fan sitting by herself in one of the regular season ticket holders seats, we make small talk with her and she seemed rather nice... right before kick off her husband shows up and starts running his mouth, my dads buddy that sat behind us put him in his place right away and told him if he didn't stop being and ass he was going to kick his ass... OSU scored the first TD i think of the game and that jack hole OSU fan pulls out a flag and starts waving it around, my dads buddy nearly made him eat it...

after that the Tim show started... the wife start swearing like a trucker and got more and more mad as the game went on, her husband just sat there with his mouth shut...  after the game we found out from them that they thought there was no way that OSU was going to lose ot Michigan so they had already bought and paid for their trip to Pasedena for the Rose Bowl and it was non-refundable...

walking out of the Big House and everyone was chanting Eddie Who...

IIRC didn't some freshman DB that wore #2 get his first pick of his career in that game???

"The formation that Michigan is using with three wide receivers and one back is stretching out the Ohio State defense and opening up some nice seams in the running game."

Jim Tressel would do the same thing to Michigan in 2006.

It doesn't matter whether you are running a spread option or a "traditional" offense in "two minute" mode; it pays to spread the field.

George won the Heisman trophy that year, but Biakabutuka knew that he was a better back than George, and was not shy about letting people know that he felt that way. Before the game Lloyd and Fred Jackson came up to Biakabutuka, and basically said,You think that you're better than this guy? Then here is your one chance to prove it, on the field, in front of the whole world, so either prove you're the better back, or shut up about it forever. He proved it.
