Today's Harbaugh Information

Submitted by AmishRule on
I don't believe this was highlighted yet. Below is a "clarification" article written by Sam Webb. This is to bring some explanation to some recent bad communication that Harbaugh's potential Michigan staff was being pulled together (i.e., Wheatley). But what I continue to find from most of the recent discussions and articles from Sam and others is the very possibility that Harbaugh is a very viable candidate. This is either by no denials, out right expression of his interest, consistent Harbaugh discussion (much more than other potentials), etc. So I'm more of a believer today than I was a few weeks ago. http://michigan.scout.com/story/1482309-webblog-hoke-harbaugh-the-echo-…

What a long article to express very few thoughts. I like SW and I understand his intent to be clear/overly clear about the facts surrounding these events. This article was just a word dump that felt like it would never end. The "echo chamber" to which he refers is not something that can be stopped; it's called the internet.  This had CYA written all over it IMO.

In this instance. Most people are hanging on every word in the media regarding Harbaugh. Let's just let the chips fall where they may, at this point it is all just speculation. I think as a fan base we are setting ourselves up for major disappointment if Hoke isn't fired and Harbaugh doesn't come back to A2 as the prodigal son!

His Dudeness

Sam is just pissed that people are making guesses and wrapping his info into it.

It's kind of silly for him to get upset by it because it's going to happen in the blog world where anyone can post anything with any (or no) sources and if they end up correct, boom instant credibility.

Like everyone has been saying from the beginning. It would take a lot of pieces to fall right for JH to come home, but it's not out of the question.

I think Jim would ultimately want to stay at SF and try for a Super Bowl.

I think his GM doesn't really work well with him and wants him gone.

It all really depends on whether the owner likes Jim more than his GM.

If Jim is let go from SF then all bets are off and anything is a possibility.

I really do hope the Wheatley thing does come to fruition.  Don’t know if I like him as a coordinator just yet but definitely bring him in as a RB coach/associate head coach/run game coordinator.  He can progress from there into becoming the offensive coordinator.

Could there be a bigger departure from Fred Jackson than Wheatley?  The stories of him when he was on campus are of someone who is insanely intense and focused on getting better.  Jackson strikes me as a lot of fluff and little substance.  That description would have nothing to do with Wheatley.

Could have used a bit of editing, probably.  Still, Sam made his case pretty well.  People do call and ask his opinion and he's quite straightforward with everything he says on the show including where he is giving an educated guess, where he feels strongly about something, and where he is giving an opinion.  I don't find him misleading in any way.

He's right about the echo chamber, how to control that, who knows.  People want to talk about this stuff, and speculate.  No sense dumping on Sam for having a show where he not only discusses topics of interest but gives callers a forum.

Something about the way that article is written annoyed me. It's like they were saying that they were the only ones reporting the truth (RE: brandon), which is not how I remember it.

Pick another team to make up/ rehash other people's reporting?

Anyway, Is Sam paid by the word? He needs to be much more direct and concise.

Also, I didn't get that Harbaugh is more or less likely to be Michigan's next coach from that article. It just stated (after many paragraphs) that harbaugh and Wheatley never had a conversation about a potential position on his staff. Period.

Gregg Henson - I'm not going to link to the article but if you Google it you will read exactly what Sam is talking about.

"One name that is firmly planted in the Harbaugh camp is Tyrone Wheatley, the RB’s Coach for the Buffalo Bills."

That's the quote to save you some time.

Reminds me of how the recruiting roundup typically goes. He talks in circles and says the same thing over and over, adding as many unnecessary adjectives as possible to fill time. Love his insight, but I'm always wondering how many additional calls we could hear if he was more to the point.
