Ticket Prices for The Game

Submitted by MLaw06 on

Ticket Prices for The Game are currently available for approximately $65 for corner seats and $95 for sideline seats.  On Stubhub, ticket volume stands at 5,800 tickets with a majority of those priced towards the lower end.

It appears that resale prices are trending towards approximately 25% of the resale prices that were commanded at the start of the season.

Effectively, there is no price premium anymore and season ticket holders appear to be selling at break-even prices (i.e., season tickets are $65 per seat) without recouping their PSD contributions.

That being said:

If your excuse not to attend The Game was because of finances, then I call BS.  This is one of the most affordable (inflation-adjusted) opportunities to attend The Game in the Big House!  Let's at least show up and support The Team, The Team, The Team!!!

Sold my extra pair on Stubhub for 189 a piece. Section 24 row 37.  Face was $95 so I'm pretty happy that, even after Stubhub takes a cut.  Prices really started dropping after the Iowa loss.

only year I'll have season tickets was this year. I don't mind taking a hit to sell a directional Michigan game, but the 'dynamic pricing' model made those OSU tickets $225 that are now selling for $65. One of the advantages of being a donor was the opportunity to purchase single game tickets before they were released to the world, however the new system makes it a worse investment to donate and purchase tickets through the school then to just buy them on secondary market.

Feeling used and taken advantage of does not sit well with me. I'll go to games next year for <$40 per game and won't take a loss selling my 'premium games' like I did this year with Nebraska.

If you bought "dynamic priced" tickets and planned to re-sell them for a profit... well what can I say, that sounds like a bum plan to me.  The whole point of dynamic pricing was to rip the profits from the middle-men.  Therefore, it makes no sense to buy dynamic priced tickets unless you are going to use them for the game and you're hedging risk by picking them up early directly from the school.

I would say that with basic season tickets, you could have made money this year if you sold your tickets early (i.e., at or around the ND game).  Therefore, it's similar to the market in that you need to know when to sell...

We have entered an era -- the first in 50 years -- where being a Michigan football season ticket holder is a bad deal.

The rottenness of this state of affairs has little to do with whether the team is 7-5 or 10-2.  It has everything to do with problems caused by college football's managers:

  • They have suqeezed the season into Labor Day weekend and stretched it into Thanksgiving weekend.  That's bad, for people with lives to lead outside of college football.
  • They have raised the cost dramatically; exorbitantly.  With Preferred Seating donations that can effectively double the price of tickets.
  • They have structured the game around television, in terms of start times and weeks in play.
  • They have denuded the schedule, from nine Big Ten teams plus a Stanford or a Washington or a UCLA, down to directional MAC teams and lesser.

"Michigan football" used to be the best ticket in all of sports in this part of the midwest, stretching from Grand Rapids to Saginaw to Hamilton, Ontario to Toledo, Ohio.  You were pretty much guaranteed to see some of the best competition, on the best and most beautiful days of the fall, in the best venue, in the entire region.  I think a lot of those qualities still exist.  But it has gotten to be VERY expensive for season ticket holders.

And don't any of you for a moment forget two things.  Donor support is every bit as big to the Michigan Athletic Department as television revenue.  And season ticket holders are the people that make certain that there are 100,000+ in that stadium every Saturday.

It's crazy that they're selling higher on StubHub than FOOTBALL tickets are. I know it's a big game, but nothing is bigger than Michigan/Ohio football.

That said, I'm looking for 2 HOCKEY tickets for Friday if anyone is selling.

Just don't complain about the stadium being a sea of red if you're not fan enough to support your team! Really not much excuse with the prices being this low. I will be driving three hours from Ohio and wearing maize!

I am as upset as everyone else about how things have gone for the last 6 yrs, I still have not missed a game during this time at the Big House. It is going to be painful to watch this weekend and I believe it is going to be an absolute disaster with the recruits on hand for this.

Don't be surprised if DB makes a very bold move durning the month of December related to the future of UM football program. He runs this show like a corporation and thant means everything is based on "results" and the bottom line. Both are in trouble at this time.

He will not let this program flounder and take a back seat to MSU or OSU or any other program. I believe he already has a plan and it will come to be in December

The problem isn't only that it'll be 1/2 OSU, it's that they come wearing red or black coats and jackets.

We were blue or black coats and jackets.

So it's going to look like a bunch of red and black in the stands because you can't tell navy from black.

I hope the students turn out. They bitched and complained about not going to the Akron level games because it's Akron and they've got other shit to do. This is Ohio, the biggest game of the year AND it's over a holiday break. Those sections should be PACKED in maize and blue...no excuses.

This can't continue much longer... Ticket price increases, PSDs, game day parking cost (remember when Pioneer was $10 to park) & concession stand cost for truly crummy food.  There will be empty seats at Michigan Stadium next year, soon they will have to announce less than 100,000 in attendance.  The average season ticket holder will refuse to pay the high cost for a mediocre product!  You can only put so much air in the bubble before it burst!

But that is the case for all sports.

Why pay $500 for tickets, parking, etc. when you can spend that money and buy a new 50" LED TV? A TV that is there for years and year, doesn't put you out in the cold, doesn't make you feel like you wasted your money if your team loses, and a TV that gives you a great view of the game.

Michigan Stadium is in Ann Arbor, MI...we're not talking the most populated area in the country. So people have to travel.

We're also talking about a depressed midwest, so money isn't there like it used to be.

Just 20 years ago, going to the game was an AWESOME experience, people made more money (realtively speaking), TVs sucked, and there wasn't an internet in the way there is now...

The team deserves our support, even if we have issues with the coaching. Fans are a piece of the equation as well, and all too often, Michigan fans don't carry their weight... We need to be a better fanbase.

If you hold off until Friday, you'll get a pair of tix for $100. Because of that my wife and I'll be going to both the basketball and football games this weekend on our trip up from Florida. Beats the $750 I paid 2 years ago.
