Open thread for those watching. 2 minutes left in 1st and GT already looks to be routing the Tigers. Nesbit's had some ugly throws but that option TD was beautiful.
further adventures in Jed York being unsuited for his position
Please stop passing the ball. Please run the ball only.
Someone who bet money on you.
Great fake FG.
If their passes go like that, I think they can do it some more.
Let the record show that I picked GT to win the ACC this year. One game does not a season make but DAMN Clemson is getting out-coached so bad.
but DAMN Clemson is getting out-coached so bad.
Something tells me that could have been said every season of late.
True, but this is supposed to be a new coach. ALL IN and all that.
Also, the only big weakness GT had going into the season was their D-line. Three new starters out of four and they didn't do so hot last week. This week they're owning the Clemson O-line. Parker's pocket is mad shaky.
Dabo Swinney: The Coach Stew of the ACC.
Clemson needs to show up. The already have 2 picks and yet they are still losing by 21
The second pick was overturned.
This is just sad. Parker looks like he needs a reassuring pat on the back, but no one on the Clemson sideline looks capable of doing it.
Anthony Allen's dreads are beautiful.
The Paul Johnson offense is one of my absolute favorite things to watch in football. It was loads of fun at Navy and now it's just nasty now that he's got BCS-level talent. When it's rolling along it's just about the most entertaining thing in the whole country.
Definitely agree with you there. Question though, if he wins big the next few years do you see him moving to a higher power?
We don't really need another coach. However, I suppose if he wanted to come in and work as some sort of asst. offensive coordinator, we could use the skillz.
I mean, M's about the only higher power, right?
Seconded, MaizeAndBlueWahoo. It's amazing to see the triple option flexbone in action. No wonder Ohio State had trouble stopping it! I think GTech runs it beautifully, if not for the fact that Nesbitt is like Sheridan when it comes to throwing the ball.
Oh yeah, can't be stopped in NCAA10 either.
For being one sided in score, this game is still staying interesting. Don't know if it's the option being executed beautifully, the cringe of the Nesbitt passes, or the joy in watching a Clemson melt down extra early in the season. Whatever it is, it's working.
Clemson: badly out-coached.
GT: not exactly world beaters. took advantage of Clemson brain farts on special teams and had one great run. other than that, their offense - while fun to watch - is not terribly effective at moving the ball. the QB cannot pass, and the offense has an especially hard time recovering from penalties or plays that lose yards.
Yeah, GT's offense doesn't look like it's gotten better from last year. It's just a bunch of small gains and an occasional big gain. Passing game is poor and practically non-existant. I figured GT's offense would open up this year with QB and RBs returning, but looks like same stuff as last year.
... they showed some video of Terelle Pryor during a Pete Carrol interview. I never realized how bad his throwing technique is.
The Vest has probably hatched a conservative game plan. I think USC is going to spank the Buckeyes...
The Vest has probably hatched a conservative game plan.
Tressel conservative? Why I never!
Sweet inexplicable penalty. And I like how none of the commentators can make sense of it either.
This turned back into a game. I switched over to the Steelers/Titans game when it was 21 nothing GT, and now it's a 3 point game, with Clemson now in the Red Zone.
How many total interceptions is that this game? 5?
Eww. Georgia Tech has turned into a big mess. And Nesbitt just got picked off again, throwing into quadruple coverage. Imagine that.
Don't mean to take anything away from Clemson, who are fighting, but the Ramblin' Wreck is CHOKING. THIS. GAME. AWAY.
And though I respect Johnson as a coach, he needs to rein in his moron QB and keep him from dumping 35-yard balls off to be picked off.
Nesbitt's stats: 1-11, 20 yards, 2 INTs. Why are they even throwing the ball? This is a triple option team, who mainly RUNS THE BALL!!!
53 yard FG by the Clemson kicker with room to spare. What a kick.
Well this is far more of an enjoyable game now.
Gee, wonder if these refs are from Georgia? What a terrible call.
Not after that one.
You have 666 points.
And then there is the terrible call against GT. So, just bad calls then.
Closet Georgia Tech fans go wahhhh.
Now we see the effects of average S&C programs. GT looks absolutely gassed right now; not good considering they are a run heavy team. Glad to know that our boys are in tip top shape and are well conditioned.
That DB could have picked off that pass if only he had turned around.
/armchair defensive back
Plenty of time still left. I half wished they faked it again or actually gone for it on fourth. That'd been ridiculous (and stupid).
Great ball game. Tomorrow's won't be nearly as good.
Got home late tonight, just in time to catch the start of the comeback. Great game.
