Thank you Brady Hoke

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Thank you Brady Hoke for devoting 4 years of your life to Michigan Football as a head coach in addition to your 8 as an assistant from 1995-2002.

Thank you for contributing 31 wins to Michigan's all-time total.

Thank you for loving Michigan and giving your best effort. Whoever the next coach is will have a great amount of talent to work with.

We all wished things worked out.

Good luck to you. Go Blue.

I like how your Hoke Fired thread wasn't the one chosen, so you immediately scrambled to make yet another Hoke Appreciation thread, because god forbid there isn't at least one Wolverine Devotee thread on the front page.

Coach Hoke is a great guy and a Michigan Man. I'm sorry that things didn't work out. Hopefully, Coach will move to a better spot for him and Michigan will find the right person to take his place.

This is my bold prediction and granted it's extremely bold, but I predict that within the next 20 years Brady Hoke will return as our coach and will be the one to return us to the promise land. He will gain more experience and find great success elsewhere while we continue to be mediocre. Finally, Hoke will be one of the hottest HC candidates and his love for Michigan will prevail and he will return.

A great man. Supremely easy to root for. Until the last of the dying days, he made me believe I'd soon belong to the fanbase with everything, that we could be the only top tier winner in america led by an imperishably likeable guy.

That is the most depressing blockham drawing ever.

I'm sorry it didn't work out coach. Thanks for a great memory of 2011 and restocking the cupboard.

Michigan and Hoke will be parting ways for now, but I don't think we've seen the last of Hoke working for Michigan. He'll be back someday.

He recruited great players, sold them on the greatness of the university, and taught them to be great men.  We'll miss your love and enthusiasm for Michigan and lives of the players you coached.

As I posted after the MSU game, I believe Brady Hoke is a great man who is just an average coach.  To succeed at Michigan, you must be a great coach.

All the best to Coach Hoke and his family.  I have no doubt that great things are ahead of them.

It gave us a moment's respite and helped us remember who we used to be.

It also is single-handedly responsible for putting your career coaching record above .500.

So you've got that going for you.  Which is nice.

Brady Hoke is one of the nicest people I've ever met. Thanks for 2011 and the first BCS win since 2000. Unfortunate that things didn't end up working out but a Michigan man through and through

I liked the man, his character, passion and commitment. Unfortunately, I did not like his results. I feel certain Brady will be very successful in another HC or DC position.

I wish it could have worked because I really believe it was about the school and the players with Brady, not himself.

I wil miss your loyalty, your integrity, your humility, and your ability to bring quality student-athletes to Michigan.

Hope you leave with your head held high and love of Michigan intact. Best of luck.

Whatever his technical faults, Brady Hoke was a man any mother and father would want their son for play for.  I never recall him ever blaming his players, his coaches, the athletic department, or anyone else.  They all love him, and no doubt will love him and be indebted to him all their lives.

If anything, his tragic fault is loving and believing and trusting others around him maybe too much, sticking with and defending them to the end.  They were all very lucky to have him.  So was Michigan.

On the field, the results were to nobody's satisfaction.  In every other aspect, there probably is/was none better.

Godspeed Brady!

I'm so saddened by this.  Don't mean to get sappy, but instead of saying thank you I feel like I should be saying I'm sorry.  Coach Hoke was everything college football should be about, but unfortunately is not . . . and I'm part of the problem!  College athletics shouldn't be about wins, it whould be about the kids.  Mike McRay's tweet made me loathe myself even more for not being satisfied with all Hoke accomplished:

"Thank You Coach Hoke for everything you have done for me. I will make you proud just like I said before. "  --Mike McRay

Thank you Brady Hoke. Your commitment and dedication to the University and the players has been unparalleled. I thank you for your time and shouldering the burden of leading this Team for the last four years. Lord knows it was not easy. I wish you the best going forward. Good luck with all your endeavors.
