Thank you 2022 Team

Title says it all. Last game was a bummer but we beat OSU AGAIN, beat MSU, and beat PSU! All blow outs. All on our way to BACK 2 BACK BIG champions. Thank you for an unbelievable year. Happy new year everyone

Huge effort, a lot of ballin by a lot of ballers, and a great season.  Injury bug bit hard, made more big mistakes than TCU and still had every chance to win in the end.  The win at the Shoe without Blake Corum was and always will be epic.  Mike Saintristl's defense play on the dime by Stroud in the end zone symbolizes  the way the team team competed all year.

Honestly, I feel the same. The year was a success. Although we shot ourselves in the foot so many times, we have an offense that can score. This is something that has been so limiting under JH. We lost both coordinators and still had top groups on both sides of the ball. With JH flirting with the NFL last year, we really needed this year to be a success JJ is most likely here for 1 more year, and this was a learning experience for him. We aren't losing much to the NFL, so we shouldn't take a step back next year, however we still need to wait and see with the portal transfers. All three other playoff teams are losing their QB after this year, so lets get back next year and dominate.

We beat OSU back to back years .... 13-0 into the playoffs and truly deserved to be there with the top 4 teams. It was a very good year.  Yes, I felt we should of beaten TCU but we didn't and they certainly do have a very good team.  I think we are in very good shape going into next year with another very good team.

Happy New Year to all of you.

It’s honestly hard to remember after the let down of last night, but we weren’t supposed to be here. We lost coordinators, our HC nearly left, dropped a couple top NFL draft picks, and had to go on the road to Columbus. Yes it sucks deeply to lose but that was self inflicted. Watching the OSU/GA game it is clear to me that we are on the leveL of the elite programs again. With the expanding playoff, I expect us to be in the CFP every year. With a chance to field an outstanding recruiting class this year, we are prepared to play with anyone in the country. Yes we have to do better than yesterday, but all things considered this is the mountaintop folks. We need to reach the summit still but there’s a shit-ton of programs looking up at us and wondering if they will ever make it this far. Happy, but not satisfied. Buckle up, because we are going back next year. LFG!!!!!

There were two games, so must be two winners and two losers.  No ties!

And each winner and each loser were full of great plays and monumental mistakes.  Hence, the close, high scores for each team (and against each team!).  And referees were part of the result as well, great calls and mistakes too; each team would probably feel that way.  It sure seems that there were four teams that were very well matched and one of the things that hurts about last night's result is that M cannot play Georgia next week.  Because I, for one, am not convinced that M wouldn't win, if for only the chance to correct problems from yesterday.

In retrospect, I am appreciative of a phenomenal unbeaten regular season and the fabulous personalities of players and coaches that developed and emerged during the season.  The commitment to positive results was amazing!  Looking forward to next year.  Hope Harbaugh stays!

Go Blue!

This is a perfect summary. We overachieved, beat Ohio at the toilet bowl, won the big 10, and made the championships.  Any change in one of many flip of the coin mistakes would have changed the outcome.

It’s amazing that there are bloggers on here that think they know better and call for coaching and other changes. We were better than 126 other teams this year.

There are very few jobs in America, as compared to coaching college football, where you have to be perfect (even in other sports you don’t have to win every game in a single season).   In fact, in most careers, perfectionism is a path to failure.

Maybe next year we can stop talking about winning a "Natty" before we've even won a semi. As for the team, think back to two years ago and where we were. Great season, proud of these guys and how far they've come. It's been a heckuva ride these past two years.

It was a heck of a run...B1G Champions was not the expectation for this team.

Still it feels like Michigan didn't play their best game, and that's a bitter pill to swallow...

Like Harbaugh said, make a play here or they miss a play there and the outcome is completely different.

Credit to TCU though - they were much tougher and hard nosed than many gave them credit for, especially in the trenches, where Michigan could not solve them on either side of the ball.

Hoping for a great New Year, for everyone and the Team as well

It was a great season. Ride the wave! They ran the table until the last game. I hope the players and coaching staff can learn some hard lessons from this TCU game which will make next year even better, and I don't mean injuries. It will be about playing through extreme adversity, when nearly everything goes wrong (2 pick 6s) and we get out schemed, etc.

One thing I'd like to see this team implement is much more up tempo plays on offense. Nearly every team did it to us this season and our guys adjusted much better than last season but now it's our turn to do this regularly. They also need to be really good at it. It's not always about winning the TOP. TCU had the ball nearly 5 min less than Michigan but efficiency nearly always wins. Pound and ground served our guys well this year and Blake Corum was the perfect guy that enabled Michigan to it.

Yes, Hail to Team 143! Keep the glass half full, am looking forward to another smashing success in 2023; Go Blue!

Beat OSU and MSU in the same year for the first time since 2003 - and both in huge blowouts.

Won in the Horseshoe for the first time in 22 years - most of our players weren’t alive the last time it happened.

Won a school-record 13 games.

Have won our last game against every Big Ten opponent.

Had to overcome the loss of our Heisman candidate and still beat Illinois, OSU, Purdue and were 1-2 plays away from the national title game.

Two things can be true.

1.  2022 was a great season, and if you told me two years ago Michigan football was in the position it's in now, I would have never believed you.  This team could very well be preseason #1 in 2023, and has a very good chance to make the CFP for the 3rd consecutive year.

2.  Last night was a massive missed opportunity.  Michigan needs to re-evaluate how they prepare for the postseason, since it's looking like they will be playing in more important games going forward, especially with the expanded playoff.

Yes to 1 and 2. I find myself feeling so much more bitter about that loss due to the nature of it. And to me, it was almost as if the staff over-thought the damn thing.

Stick to who you are more.

Where was testing the edge with Edwards and a pack of tight ends early? The getting JJ settled in with some early read option is about the only deviation needed.

Where was the, okay, they've got great corners we won't throw out routes we don't need that defined games going all the way back to Washington last season?

Where was the "it is only the first drive, I've got Jake Moody field goal" to frustrate all us fans shouting go for it, but stick to the character of the team you've built?

Where were the multiple coverages and the solid run defense each time they drew within a score?

Where was the tackling? The defensive interior?

That was just such a brutal loss, from a fan perspective, because it didn't represent who this team has been for an entire season. And still they likely win but for a bizzarro overturned call that seemed straight out of last season's MSU crew.

The fact that Harbaugh made changes and improved the culture of the program in many ways in order to achieve no. 1 leads me to believe he can build upon that progress and achieve no. 2.

The program isn't exactly where it needs to be yet, but it has come a long way and is in great shape. There's no reason to be pessimistic.

Fantastic season that ended in disappointment (again). For some reason this program just does not play well in bowls, dating back to the Shembechler days.

Still, I love that it has literally been a full year since I have had to feel the disappointment of a Michigan football loss. I also love that there is a lot to be optimistic about for next season.

Moeller was the only guy who seemed to have his team playing its A game for the bowl (the 1992 RB loss to Washington was only 13-7 at half). Plus 3-1-1 vs. Ohio.

Lloyd had a nice run 1997-2000. Especially the Orange Bowl comeback under Brady. If Henson hadn't taken Steinbrenner Bucks' bucks, we would have probably won another after 2001.

Interesting that both times we played a team that lost its title game and seemed way more focused than we did, at least in the 1st half. UGA 2021 was just way better than us and got revenge vs. Bama.

I'm expecting a far more focused bowl prep next year.

p.s. please, JH, tell the NFL - NO! We don't need the JH to Denver BS starting up.

I love this team and felt so much joy watching us win so many beautiful (and some uglier) games. Our team’s attitude is worth emulating in everyday life. We are fortunate to be aligned with such a squad. Yesterday was rough but we fought until the final 30 seconds when it was clearly over. Cheers to a healthy and prosperous 2023. Go Blue

It was a great season.  It hurts but I still remember the Hoke and Rich Rod years which makes me appreciate these last two years so much more.  I genuinely look forward to Saturday so much which is a great thing.  I hope we can keep building on it but yesterday is the very definition a first world problems.  There probably aren't five programs in the country that wouldn't trade places with us.  We could have rolled over and died yesterday when things kept going wrong but the kids fought to the bitter end.  It was just a fun ride.

Some 2022 accomplishments: McCarthy’s passing yards (2,719), TDS (22) and Total Offense (3,025) numbers were the 8th, 6th (tied) and 7th highest single season totals in Michigan history. Corum’s 1,463 rushing yards rank 8th all time. Edwards fell just nine yards short of 1,000.  Ronnie Bell had the most receptions (62) and receiving yards (882) in the Harbaugh era.

We've accomplished everything we could have asked for two years ago when many of us wished JH would jump back to the NFL and Matt Campbell was the hot new hire-to-be - OTHER than win a playoff game.

We ended some long streaks in the process:

1. 2021 - first win over Ohio since '11, win at Wisky since '01, first ever win at Nebraska (and helped heap more hot coals on Scott Frost), first B1G title since 2004. Highest final ranking since 1997.

2. 2022 - first win at Ohio since 2000, first back to back over Ohio since 99-2000, first win at Iowa since '05, first outright back to back B1G titles since 1991-92. Will finish #3 again.

If there was one thing that I respected about TCU (and there is more than 1 thing I respect about them) it was their ability to play in and win close games, including the comebacks vs. Baylor and KSU. They were 6-1 in one score games, vs. our 2-0. We weren't really tested in the 4th quarter until the last three games, the last two which we pulled well ahead by the end.

All the more reason to play ONE tough non-league opponent, like UCLA would have been this year.

Proud we came back three times actually (down 21-3, down 41-22, down 51-38) to make it close.

Are we the overall better team - yes, but not by the 7 point spread. TCU really has some good players, Q. Johnston in particular.

Let's just process this and compare ourselves to where MSU fans and Ohio fans are feeling at the end of their season. I wouldn't trade places with them!

Amazing season! Of course the performance last night was disappointing, but we can still bask in the glow of back-to-back Big Ten Championships and whooping the Suckeyes in the Horseshoe!

When it comes to bowl games, Michigan is the Minnesota Vikings.

The Vikings have played in a total of 51 playoff games in their history, with an overall record of 21-30, for a winning % of .412.

Michigan has played in a total of 50 bowl games, with an overall record of 21-29, for a winning % of .420.

If you look at Michigan’s record in bowl games since Schembechler arrived, it’s 17-29, for a winning % of .369. That puts Michigan right next to the Cleveland Browns in postseason futility; the Browns have a winning % of .364.
