Still Smiling About Last Night's Beatdown + Lions Game
Mates,
Last night's game was extraordinarily satisfying for all of us. Not just that we won, as expected, but that it was done like a methodical surgery, brutal in it's perfection and bullying. And how proud are we all about the character and focus of these kids playing in the maize and blue, as compared to the various spartys gooning it up, particularly that hit on MacGregor - that is borderline criminal.
And hey, the Lions are on today, playing against that other Harbaugh. I pull for the Ravens because of John H., but not today. Go Lions, Forward down the field!

The last two weekends have been so outstanding for me, and for Michigan/Detroit sports fans...the Lions playing to their level, the Red Wings having such a good start to their season, my Air Force Falcons having two key victories over that time, and of course our beloved Michigan Wolverines dominating.
I ain't questioning anything, just gonna ride this wave for as long as I can...

Absolutely loved how we were running plays and not kneeing it out at the end. That TD we scored with 8 seconds left had to be both humiliating and a smack in the face for Sparty.

Was hoping for 60! Awesome win by the boys!

I didn’t want football to end last night. Was flipping between the Michigan and UVA-UNC game with my UVA son. Even well past the point it was competitive, it is hard not to keep watching Michigan so we actually watched more of that game. The level of play is just something to behold and JJ is fantastic.
But the UVA win is pretty special for what those kids have gone through. Running back Mike Hollins, who was injured in the gunfire that killed his three teammates, scored three TDs last night. Their first conference win since before the tragedy and I think first ever win on the road against a (admittedly overrated) Top 10 opponent.

Forward down the field!

A charging team that will not yield!

Yesterday was perfect with the Wings and Wolverines winning
Hoping for a Wings and Dolphins double win tonight
Texted my nephew whose an msu fan if he watched yesterday and his reply was, “ No I knew it would be a massacre”

After seeing the hit on MacGregor I FINALLY understood why MSU feared for the safety of their players and didn't want to play us! You see how MacGregor dangerously moved his head before he was speared? If he had moved it a little more the dirty hit could have REALLY been dangerous for the MSU goon. And of course MSU can't sit by and let their players take that kind of risk when taking their cheap shots.
/sarcasm (because sometimes people don't get it)

Michigan football occupies way too much of my emotion and brain-space.
The last few years this has been a good thing - today it's a great thing!

From the short SP+ writeup with this morning's rankings:
Only top-ranked Michigan remains in the same spot it was in a week ago - the Wolverines expanded their lead on the field following a ruthless blowout of rival Michigan State - and there are otherwise lots of ups and downs.
That makes me happy to read.
Keep smiling, MGoBloggers.

UM game was fantastic. Good week so far for teams in the east side of the State. :)
I am hoping Lions can pull this one out. It is going to be a tough one. But Lions have a lot going on for the rest of the season. If they were healthy, I would think they will be the favorite. But, this is a toss up game and Harbaugh is a very good coach. Looking forward to it.

Our team is officially a 'Juggernaut'. The way we keep defeating opponents by larger and larger margins, wow!
As for the Lions, more wow! Stratospheric expectations; we win at Baltimore and the Super Bowl is seriously on the docket. We will have the easiest schedule of all the NFC leaders and a good chance at having home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
Good times indeed!
October 22nd, 2023 at 1:10 PM ^
I don't believe the Lions are scheduled to play a team with a winning record until week 17.
October 22nd, 2023 at 12:56 PM ^
It's a wonderful thing to watch, and I hope its counterpart today, the Lions win too.
[I also root for the Ravens b/c of Harbaugh.)

I’m still smiling too. That was insanely hot porn happening at Spartan Stadium last night.
I bitched most of the day having to wait for a night game and then when it ended, I didn’t want it to be over.

Is this going to be the game thread? Just looking behind the announcers it looks like a Baltimore takeover is in full effect.

FWIW MacGregor had the guy in a headlock. Also diving headfirst onto a helmet is suicidally stupid; he could’ve easily injured his own neck. At least we can rule out giving himself a concussion because you need a brain to do that.
But while Michigan lost their cool at times, holy fuck it’s like MSU spent more time last week thinking of ways to end Michigan careers than practicing football. I really couldn’t enjoy the score because it looked like they were out to start something on every play.
October 22nd, 2023 at 1:27 PM ^
did not have him in a headlock. watch it:
https://x.com/barstoolsports/status/1715921785080938625?s=46
normal line stuff, players break for a second, a shoulder hit by our guy, then the sparty dive and attempt to paralyze.
October 22nd, 2023 at 4:42 PM ^
Alright, enough of this "MacGregor." Let's get it right boys, it's "McGregor."

ravens going for it on 4th down?
October 22nd, 2023 at 1:11 PM ^
If they failed it would have left the Lions in bad field position, probably a good call this early in the game..
October 22nd, 2023 at 1:10 PM ^
Surprised the Ravens took the opening drive, but good on them, they scored, 7-0. Lions turn...
October 22nd, 2023 at 1:11 PM ^
Just noticed something ...
Spencer Brown was a Dantonio recruit:

Maverick Hansen (he of lesser penalties) was, too:

Jamo and Gibbs on the field for the first time, I think. This is a powerful offense
October 22nd, 2023 at 1:16 PM ^
not starting well for the lions, but they've earned the right to have faith in them getting it together.
October 22nd, 2023 at 1:25 PM ^
Absolutely. They got the whole game to figure out the Ravens.
October 22nd, 2023 at 1:21 PM ^
Bad call, the ball wasn't even going to him...
Edit: Justice!

Lions D-Line not getting home at all, Raven's O-Line giving Jackson all the time in the world.
October 22nd, 2023 at 1:27 PM ^
They're getting closer...
October 22nd, 2023 at 1:31 PM ^
Twice on that last touchdown drive a Lions defender had Jackson in his grasp and didn't get a sack
October 22nd, 2023 at 1:34 PM ^
It feels like the pass rush is actually getting a lot of push but they really dont have a chance against Jackson's legs.
October 22nd, 2023 at 1:27 PM ^
Looks like the Lions are being brought back down to earth. Raven's OL is dominating.
October 22nd, 2023 at 1:28 PM ^
yes and no. i am hopeful that's not sustainable by the ravens, but we'll see.
October 22nd, 2023 at 1:31 PM ^
If by dominating you mean holding then yes sure dominating.
October 22nd, 2023 at 1:29 PM ^
The refs missed another false start on an opposing RT opposite Hutchinson, just like week one. Not looking like a fun game.
October 22nd, 2023 at 1:31 PM ^
Seriously, everyone had time to point at him before the ball was snapped! If that wasn't bad enough, he was holding Aidan! Not good...
October 22nd, 2023 at 1:29 PM ^
This may be a long day
October 22nd, 2023 at 1:31 PM ^
Oh well, no super bowl this season. May be playoffs?
October 22nd, 2023 at 1:45 PM ^
This one isn't over, but even if we lose we have a favorable schedule here on out. Don't fold up the tent just yet.
October 22nd, 2023 at 1:36 PM ^
Looks like its gonna be a stinker today. It happens to everyone. This was always going to be a tall task.
October 22nd, 2023 at 1:44 PM ^
I did not think the Lions would win at Baltimore but I was thinking they would be competitive. This has blowout written all over it. We'll see how they recover after such a loss. It's a nice day, and heading out for yard work.
October 22nd, 2023 at 2:04 PM ^
Yeah...maybe too late at this point but now the hope is to just not get embarrassed. Neither side of the ball is even remotely competitive.
October 22nd, 2023 at 1:41 PM ^
A hold, finally!
October 22nd, 2023 at 1:41 PM ^
Not sure why the Lions keep giving the Ravens’ receivers so much space. They’re wide open on every play.
October 22nd, 2023 at 1:43 PM ^
Jackson is playing out of his mind
October 22nd, 2023 at 1:48 PM ^
I honestly don't understand why the last couple of years here both NFL and college officials are seemingly allowing tackles to get away with false starts, it's happening a ton at both levels.
October 22nd, 2023 at 1:49 PM ^
Man, Baltimore was ready for this one! Lions looking completely discombobulated
October 22nd, 2023 at 1:49 PM ^
245 total yards to 6. Lions are pulling a Rutger right now. Embarrassing effort given all the good press they had been getting lately. MNF against the Raiders next week just became a must win.
