Starting QB prediction thread

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

I found something really interesting on Twitter. Wolverine Sports Radio, who resident mod LSAClassOf2000 is part of, posted a poll on their twitter on who fans want to start at QB.

As of 8:43pm, it is deadlocked. EVEN at 50-50 with Rudock and Morris at 79 votes each.

Haven't seen an mgoblog prediction thread so...

1) who will start the season opener and why?

2) do you predict that QB will be the starter throughout the entire season. If not, who will take his spot?

I do remember a prediction thread but now there's a bit more info at our hand so I see no problem with another. As I've said from the start I think Morris wins it. Just want him to be smarter with the ball. If we want to find any success on offense we need to protect the ball.

HARBAUGH (edit: to be serious, though, I think Rudock is most likely. His huge edge in experience plus proven ability to minimize turnovers makes him the best fit for a team likely to rely heavily on defense.)

Harbaugh has proven he will go for athleticism over experience if he thinks it will pay off.  I really don't think we have much to judge Shane on based on his limited opportunity and the whole train wreck that was the offense he has been a part of.

I think Rudock however would have a better season this year if he starts than he did at Iowa.   I think he will be surrounded by better talent and coaching this season. Having him here makes me feel better about the downside.

Your point about the defense is a good one.  This defense is going to be a very good one and will win games and provide oppotunites for the offense.

I am looking forward to watching it play out.

More game experience Passing efficiency rating Limits turnovers However, doesn't matter who wins the job I will be pulling for either of them to succeed. I'll trust JH and Fisch.

I'll still say Rudock for now. I just think his experience wins out. I HOPE that Morris wins it. I root for the kid to put it all together, and I think it would be strange to see a guy that started for another big ten team start at QB for Michigan.

1. I think the best man will start, because he is the best option.

2. I think that the opening day starter will continue to be the starter if he is the best man, if the opening day starter is not the best man then the better man will replace him.

Rudock starts. Experience and not turning the ball over wins out over Shanes arm strength. Malzone 3rd. Next year will be a battle between O'Korn, Morris, and Malzone. What happens to Speight? Should we also predict first QB to transfer? My guess is Speight. The O'Korn transfer really hurts him.

as a starter would seem to have an edge in game management under pressure and my prediction to start at Utah.  After that Morris could crack the door open particularly if the M offense is lackluster in the Utah game.

1) Rudock. I believe we brought him here to start. I think the offense is in serious trouble if anyone other than Rudock starts, barring a stunner from a true frosh.

2) Yes. Unless he suffers an injury, I believe Rudock will take every non-garbage time snap and that he will never be seriously pressed by another quarterback.

I saw that Twitter poll and it was 50/50, Rudock & Morris ...and like 50 votes each. Sort of surprised because it seems despite what Harbaugh says about it being open, Rudock has all the experience. I will say Rudock. "Game manager"
