The likelihood of it getting hit is really low. It's always positioned behind the play. I can't imagine many long snapper can snap it as far as the Oregon State player did. I felt a little bad for him.

The NFL rule is that the play is immediately blown dead and the down is replayed. I assume it's the same in college.

I was watching a baseball game in the 1980s when Dave Kingman somehow managed to hit a pop-up into one of the small venitlation holes at the top of the Metrodome. That seems more unlikely than a football hitting the skycam.

Much more worrisome is if skycam destroys a player. It tried to kill Marvin McNutt a few years back, camera almost hit him and then it tried to choke him out with the wire.
