Southfield lawyer offering services to Mike Weber, pro bono

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Apparently Detroit-area lawyer, Neil Rockind, has offered his service to Mike Weber pro bono if OSU does not grant him a release.

He has been tweeting all about the story.

Someone close to the Weber family needs to let them know that I will volunteer my services to help him get out of LOI

Can you honestly say you'd care about this if it were Alabama/Auburn or USC/UCLA. Recruiting is a shady business, but dont act outraged or surprised this happened. I feel for the kid and if it is that devastating to him then he should be granted a release.

Would have loved to get him on NSD, and he turned us down.  He made his decision, good for him.  I think we just move on, and let him live with it, this is why you commit to a school, coaches are temporary.  2016 recruiting is now in full swing, I say we go after Matt Falcon man he is a beast!!! Grab the in-state talent!

What has Cass Tech produced that should make is worry. From what I've seen, HS football in Michigan isn't all it's cracked up to be. Higson IMO has a greater chance to become something in college than Weber.

I'd like to get Weber, but I think what's ten times more important about this situation is that OSU has totally screwed themselves in terms of recruiting. This isn't something that Meyer and his staff can easily mend, unless they were to hire the equivalent of Wheatley (which there isn't an equivalent to him in the Detroit area asfaik) to replace Drayton. It's not like Wilcher has any affinity for OSU, he just wants his kids to play in good situations. Disrespecting him and one of his players like this is only going to get him to push kids towards Michigan more. Couple that with the fact that Wheatley already has a ton of sway in Detroit, and UM should be sending Meyer a cake for being such a foolish douche nozzle.

Meyer and Wilcher can do for Weber now is develop a statement that ends this story quickly.  One that tries to get him above the bullshit saying something like, that while I was disappointed my recuritment coach has moved on to another opportunity and I was looking forward to working with him. However, at the end of the day I have committed to The Ohio State . . .

Having said that, all this crap has not been lost on Harbaugh and Dantonio recruiting 2016. Perception is reality and the perception out there now that JH MD will leverage - right or wrong - is you cannot trust Meyer.

The best thing for Weber isn't for us to decide. He should only go to OSU if that's what he still wants to do. Maybe it is. He doesn't need to craft some public statement about staying with OSU. The only person that needs to worry about doing damage control is Meyer.

That MSU and OSU are already off to a great start for 2016. MSU I particular is getting lots of kids from Michigan to verbal already. Turn the page and on to 2016 boys!

WEBER WAS BRIONTE DUNNED! simply put

Amazing on how grown ass men are so quick to judge a 17 year old kid with serious nfl aspirations for choosing to work with a Rb coach he has experience with, and one who has developed some really damn good backs lately..... Including one that just whooped on bama and Oregon to win the first ncaa playoff. I'm not going to judge him for going to what logically looked like the best option for his future at the time, especially when it was based on a lie. You don't think his hs coaches ands parents weren't trying to push him in that direction? Even they feel betrayed. Imagine how This KID feels. We shouldn't necessarily be rolling out a red carpet, but we should show him what integrity means by understanding and offering true mentorship that won't shit on him.
