South Quad/West Quad Snowball Fight

Submitted by MGoAndy on
Confirmed visitors: Marcus Hall Barkevious Mingo Cameron Gordon Travante Stallworth Michael Schofield All seemed to be enjoying the snow, and each had a few people working on selling them on Michigan. Someone asked Mingo and Stallworth if they liked the snow and they laughed it off. All in all, I'm glad they were there for the spectacle and could see that snow can be fun. FYI - I took a giant ice-ball in the nuts. Fucking baseball players. Barkevious laughed, so if he doesn't commit, I took it in the nuts for nothing.

Over here on the west side of town all the snow is powder and making a decent snowball is impossible. And Barkevious Mingo is one of the great all-time college football names.

for a snowball fight. I saw probably 6-8 guys who looked like football players on the West Quad side, and was personally tackled (and whitewashed) by one. I didn't recognize any of them, though.

just one of the few SQ students who fought on, despite being greatly outnumbered and outmatched. And in retrospect (and having scoured the internets for pictures) I definitely got Khoury good once, and I think it might have been Demens who took me down. Hard to tell in the dark though.

The football players can get pretty nasty during the South Quad - West Quad snowball fight. In fact, two years ago Greg Mathews shattered my roommate's ankle with a tackle during the fight. Honors kids vs. football players never was quite fair.

good work MGoAndy and The Hiphopopotamus. Your services to the michigan football program are greatly appreciated. I saw Tate at the Utah game and told him how badly we need and wanted him. Well, he committed that weekend so i'd like to think my actions went a long way in securing his commitment (but really, he had actually committed like 2 hours before that but that's neither here nor there). i did see anthony fera but kept walking cause i really didn't give a shit about a kicker. but yeah, i think this stuff does have some type of effect on the recruits, even if it is just a little.

Good times. I was in West Quad for 1 year 1999-2000. I remember the fight. A taxi cab drove right down the road, the car took several hits, and the foolish driver tried to get out and yell at kids. Anyways, the snowball fight ended inside of south quad. It had cops and everything.

wow, I was in the fight as well this year. I wistfully glanced at the new, younger generation of kids and nodded, almost imperceptibly, at the way these kids grow up (im a junior, and this was my third year living in one of those 2 dorms.) Btw, I walked into my neighbor's room last night, where 2 football players and friends of minewhich i will keep nameless for their and my privacy live, and who should I see but Tate Forcier and Anthony Lalota glance up when i walked in? I slapped hands all around, then i was off to party.

I think the best part about this weekend was the snow. Think about it. Many of these kids have never seen the stuff, so it is like a novelty to them. This was probably their first snowball fight, and they probably think now that this type of tomfoolery surrounds snow, which it really does. Snow is a good thing, and I bet they talk to the kids from the south about it before they decide. This snow can only help us.

I remember seeing Mike Hart at the snowball fight when I was a student. There was also like 5 fist fights. It reminded me of an old timey western bar brawl.

I fought on the South Quad side in 2002. We lost, of course. Braylon Edwards bodyslammed a friend of mine, and Marlin Jackson was in the middle of the street calling people out. Thems were the days

If you had one chance to talk to a mondo 5-star recruit and address the cold/snow issue, what would you say - especially if they're also being recruited by USC, Florida and schools where the coeds are in bikinis half the time?

I just remember Dhani Jones, who lived in east Quad, showed up when I was a sophomore with about 25 random kids he recuited from East Quad and two coolers full of water-balloons.

back in the 70's, residents of Rumsey House made slingshots with surgical tubing and provided covering fire for the assault on South Quad. It was so successful that many people kept snowballs in their minifridges all spring and attacked South Quad once more in April, before going home for the summer. I also recall seeing Dennis Franklin throwing snowballs, during the winter of '73-74, when Ohio State was voted to the Rose Bowl, in part because everyone thought Franklin was hurt.

Last year I went to see a movie and Will Campbell was at the theater sitting a couple rows in front of me. He was talking the whole movie, and on his cell phone, and when my girlfriend told me to say something to him to get him to be quiet I told her "False" and let him on his fun. Then a few older guys got pissed (Had to be Sparties) and told them to shut up and I lowered down in my seat so in the faint glow of the projector all you could see was my Michigan hat and said "He's only a kid, who cares!" So anyway ... welcome.
