Snowflakes, Pre-Game Feelz Edition: how are you feeling about tonight?

Submitted by wolverine1987 on October 26th, 2019 at 11:19 AM

In 2015, 2016 and 2018 each day of a big game I felt a combination of excitement, nerves and anticipation. I'm not making any predictions or statements, but this year after Army, before every non-Rutgers/Illinois game I've had the same feelings as 2017 M football: a combo of dread, hope and resignation. Part of me wants to hope that last week was the beginning of an offensive surge and turnaround, but I just can't buy in.

I'm jealous of people that are hopeful and unlike me about the rest of the season. Are there many of you out there? Who's predicting a win tonight?

I predict I’m gonna laugh at all the suckers at the game in the freezing rain while I’m buzzed on my warm couch.

I like it less given the forecast.  I thought Michigan’s offense was about ready to explode.  The prospect of a sludge-fart with the game turning on who jumps on a wet football first is not what I had in mind.

Unfortunately, we play with caveman hands; if we can keep from turning the ball over, we got a chance. Also, if we can keep away from giving bomb touchdowns - I believe the Irish did this to us as well - we have a chance. We screw those up, it's going to be stressy and sad.

I think ND is probably better than us, but I think we are going to find a way to get it done tonight.  I hope the home crowd is good and liquored up.  I think being at home gives us just enough to win.

I'm surprised how ambivalent I feel. Was in A2 this morning, and it felt nothing like a game day. Nobody around. Student neighborhoods were dead.

It's the day of a Notre Dame game and it seems like no one particularly cares.

At peace...I don't have much confidence in this coaching staff right now but I love this team.  Hope for the win but expecting the typical let downs we have seen all year.

"dread, hope, and resignation". Yup. This is pretty much it here.

Watching offenses in CFB roll up and down the field, and we just can't figure it out. And that's with 9 of 11 back on offense.

Weather will make fumbling more likely, and we know all about that.

We dominated the second half last week in one of the toughest environments in college football against a top 10 team (really only top 15 in my opinion). If the refs had not spotted PSU a 14 point halftime lead, the better team would have won.  We lost, there are no moral victories looking backward.

But if you didn't see a huge shift in the team's play and progress on offense last week, particularly the way they came back in the second half, then you are only looking at the outcome, and not the on field play.

Still in a 'prove it to me' mode...although, the offense last week made me a little more hopeful.  Every time I get hopeful, JH and the team put me back where I belong...wishing my kids would see a glimpse of the Michigan football I grew up with.  I try telling them we were the best program in the country, up there with the elite. But, they've never seen it consistently, and my oldest is 18.

We win big.  Last week proved this team has a spine (coming back on the road/outplaying PSU in the White Out despite getting screwed and making mistakes), the program still has some momentum, and JMFH is still in there.

I think we run the table.  We win tonight by 17 points, and go into the MSU and OSU games super confident.

Before last week, I thought we were screwed, as I saw no progress on offense the entire year.  Things finally clicked last week, and Harbaugh was not delusional when saying the offense was "close" . He is by no means perfect, but I think Harbaugh has seen enough football to know that the difference between being shitty, ok, good, and elite is a combination of talent and then the little things (execution, timing, confidence).  We have the talent.  The rest is starting to come together.

If Michigan's offense can continue the upward trend started in the last game and hold onto the damn ball then we win comfortably (by a TD minimum).  The rain and a wet ball is the X factor.  If we get loose with the football then it'll be sphincter clenching time.

Will be taking my family to do halloween things. Not gonna spend 3 hours watching Mich and ND try to fuck a football in a monsoon. Especially a the game is meaningless

I hope the team wins and the moral victor crowd is vindicated after a quarter and a half of competence. But i doubt it

Better after seeing the Penn State game.  Michigan was the better team for 3 quarters of that game, even if it was a loss.

But I can't help thinking that a rainy day and a team that fumbles the ball a lot isn't a good combination.  BPONE.

Get out of your own head and just hope the team plays well tonight. Enjoy the sense of anxiety that comes along with not knowing the outcome of a sporting event. That's what makes it truly exciting.

I feel the same way I do about almost every Michigan game. Hopeful that this will be the game our head coach decides the point of offense is to score points. Resigned to the fact that his insistence on playing with one hand tied behind our back will require a perfect game from us or multiple mistakes from ND to win.
