Simple RichRod question
I have a question for all those Rich Rod haters. If he is fired after 2010 then what? We are gonna have the same problem we have now because all of his guys will be recruited in and another offense change will occur. I personally am a RR fan (granted less and less every Saturday) but I am an die hard Wolverine fan in Ohio where I have to listen to this crap all the time and lately I havent had a response back except history I can argue. I still think we have to wait it out and see if not the only other guy I think worth giving a shot is Brian Kelly. Now, I personally don't think a change is needed now but for those who do who do you have in mind? I think he's one of the only that would fit because he runs a spread, although very different, but he seems to change his style when necessary look at what he's doing with Collaros. So those out there who want RR out who do you think should be the replacement?

and then melted it down, cut it into bits, and salted the earth for 20 miles around with the radioactive debris. He threw the man who gave him his chance to play at Michigan under the bus, conveniently after that man was dead and couldn't defend himself against Harbaugh's allegations.
In other words, Jim Harbaugh directly said that the University of Michigan football program under Bo Schembechler had no academic integrity. If you think that the powers that be at UM are ever going to let that slide, you're very mistaken.

I agree that Harbaugh's words were politically unwise, and destroyed any chance of him coaching Michigan. But in his defense, is there any doubt that what he said was true, not only for Michigan but for virtually any big name college program?
"Michigan is a good school and I got a good education there,but the athletic department has ways to get borderline guys in and, when they’re in, they steer them to courses in sports communications. They’re adulated when they’re playing, but when they get out, the people who adulated them won’t hire them."
Big time college football programs recruit players who never would have gotten into the university on their academic merits, then encourage them to take easier courses so that they can stay eligible. It's a simple truth. I don't think Harbaugh was intending to criticize Michigan as much as he was noting the uphill battle he had to fight at Stanford, since he was more limited in the types of players he could recruit academically.

I think Jamie Morris's comments later might indicate the severity of the burnt bridge.
While I don't think any of us can specifically claim or even deny the charges, it doesn't seem to have gone over well, nor should it. I can't imagine an AD being just going along with accusations like that, much less justifiying them by hiring the accusor.

I agree with you 100%. Just noting that, while Harbaugh has no realistic chance of being coach for the reasons expressed, what he's said about the Michigan athletic program doesn't make him a dick.
No, what makes him a dick is that, when he was 35 years old, he used to hit on sorority girls at Rick's whenever he visited Ann Arbor.

There is no doubt that what he said is true for M and other schools, but why specifically call out Michigan? Why not say something like, At Stanford, where academics are more highly valued by the athletic department...

If it happens at every college in the nation, why did he specifically point to UM? He had an agenda with that comment. This is completely fine if his end goal was to do exactly what he did - burn every bridge and be branded a trader by students, players, coaches, and alumni.

That's not the most inflammatory thing Harbaugh said.
IIRC Harbaugh, when challenged to back up these statements, went a step further and claimed that the school actually denied him the right to major in history (something along those lines).

For his comments to be given any credence, he should not be so gutless as to wait until Bo is dead to voice his grievances. The bridges have bean burnt and they can stay burnt.

First of all, Rich Rodriguez won't be fired after this year. I would expect overall improvements with the quarterbacks and receivers, as well as the defense, after this year.
But replacing Rodriguez won't necessarily require a complete change in recruiting. There's no guarantee that a Debord-ian offense would return if Rodriguez were ousted. With all the teams in the country running spread offenses, these kids could fit pretty well in an offense like Florida's, Cincinnati's, Oregon's, etc. (I'm not saying that Urban Meyer, Brian Kelly, or Chip Kelly would come here.)
In other words, if we hire Bret Bielema, we're screwed. If we hire Random Spread Option Guy...eh...no big difference.

At this point (and any other) there is no substitute. Look I can understand the people making arguments against RichRod's styling/coaching, but to the people basing their arguments about his status quo in employment-- Just shut up.
There is no base behind the "Fire RichRod" debacle. If you have a problem with Rodriguez then so be it (and more power to you to state it), but to ask for his termination is asinine.

First of all, why would Brian Kelly even want to come to Michigan? He is much better off where he is.
In any case, I don't think Rodriguez has any realistic chance of being fired at the end of next season unless the team totally collapses, and with most of the starters returning this is unlikely.
Who would be the best candidates to replace him, when it wouldn't happen for at least another two years, is not worth speculating about.

I can say with 100% certainty that I am the guy to replace RR if he gets fired.
My resume reads like poetry:
Played every NCAA Football game since its creation.
Career Stats:
National Championships: 107
Heisman Trophy winners: 107
unbeaten seasons: 107
Big Ten championships: 24
SEC Championships:26
Big Twelve Championships: 25
ACC Championships: 25
Pac Ten Championships: 7
I have a proven history of turning programs around in one year and making them national champions. I can do this on both offence and defence and would assure fans that we would be national champions next season.
Of course this is all contingent on the fact that dynasty mode in NCAA football is EXACTLY the same as coaching in reality......Come on, we all know it is, right?

I am a big Michigan fan and as of now...I still support Rich Rod as the coach. As hard as it is...we need to be a little patient and let Rich Rod try and do his job. We are still a young team and the system is still a work in progress. having said that...I don't want to be like Notre Dame and hang on to someone who isn't getting the job done...let Rich Rod have 2 more years and then let's evaluate him. I have seen some improvement this year but it does seem like we take 2 steps forward and then 1 step backwards.
Keep the Faith...it's ugly and gloomy...but brighter days are coming!
