Sherrone Moore will make history, right?

I'm searching for silver linings here.  Am I correct that Sherrone Moore will be the first African-American head coach on either side of the Game?  I'm pretty sure of that, but I'm so tired that I'm doubting myself a little.

Anyway, however we got here (assuming that I'm right about where we are), this is something that I have to imagine Moore being aware of.  And it's a pretty cool moment even if the route here has been an ugly one.

Yep, which is objectively cool! It's also cool that, on paper, Michigan should blow OSU out of the water. Having a win with that record will be even nicer for Sherrone, I bet!

I like Moore. Harbaugh likes him. Would have loved for one of our beloved alumni to be on the sideline to receive this honor. From the way Moore talked about Harbaugh after the last game, I am sure Harbaugh will be very happy for him. So am I.

I just hope that what happened behind the scenes today wasn't related to Jim deciding that he was done with all this BS and wanting to get Moore fully established as his replacement.

It's just really hard to swallow the idea that Harbaugh decided to give in. That's how the statement was worded, and it would be suicide to say it that way if it wasn't true; you'd have zero hope of getting him back again.

But for whenever a transition does come, having Harbaugh hand-pick and establish his own successor is a great idea, in my opinion.

If it was a typical coach-replacement scenario, with the old guy leaving and a totally new guy coming in, I would agree with you. But if JH really were to be leaving, this would be more like an executive director transition in the nonprofit world—where the outgoing director sticks around for a bit to help the new person get acclimated to the new responsibilities.

I have no idea if Harbaugh will stay or go after this season but I think we’d be in good hands with Moore.

I think the past 3 weeks have caused Harbaugh to decide coaching in the NFL would be his best bet after this season. If Moore can pull this off and win a playoff game, I think he will have a great coaching career at Michigan. I would promote Hart up to assistant OC/assistant HC.

The best part of 1989 was Fisher going 6-0. The next best part was for years later when they showed the coaches' W/L record at the beginning of every game, every other coach's career was described at "Nth Season as Head Coach" while Fisher's was described as "Nth Full Season as Head Coach." The fact that they had to add that silly little four-letter F-word at the start of every game was a pleasant reminder of 1989.

I don’t see much of a silver lining here. If they had negotiated a 2 game suspension, then it would be fine.

I hope SM got that 2nd half playcalling pucker out of his system against PSU. A 10 point second half with no completed passes will not cut it in The Game.

But, but, but, that's not good enough if the fans weren't entertained by watching the game!

In all seriousness, yes, anyone with a solid understanding of how football works can see that Sherrone called a smart game. As Joel Klatt said, he didn't get bored taking a profit, and it took great discipline to just stick with the ground game like that.

Why would PSU’s defense adjust? They held UM’s offense to 10 points in the second half, even with UM getting a turnover in PSU territory. It’s not like PSU was sitting back with 2 deep safeties and protecting against the pass. They were stacking the box.

At the time, I thought he was choking.  Upon reflection, he absolutely knew what he was doing and I was the one panicking.  The only way PSU wins that game is a strip sack and score or a pick six.  Period. That didn’t happen because we refused to throw the ball.  We put up points and drained the clock until Franklin panicked on 4th and six.

It was not pretty to watch, but damn if it didn’t work.

Sherrone Moore will make history when Michigan beats the buckeyes on Nov 25th.

Michigan has a veteran team with tons of NFL talent and, even more important, an abundance of player leadership and the will to win.

OSU's deranged fans will have no ability to comprehend nor cope with this, and will demand to part ways with third base, which can destabilize their program, hurt their recruiting, and shift the balance of power for years to come.

Whether fairly or not, the potential reward for winning this game just got even sweeter.

I'm really curious to extrapolate what this means for Harbaugh. Is he sorta saying he's back next year with all this? Yet to be determined? Unfinished business?

Can't wait for that to be figured out...

This game is the biggest game in the history of this rivalry. And we're going to win it without our head coach. Movies and books will be written about it, especially if we go on to win it all.

I trust the coaches to adjust the game plan accordingly. We are the better team. We are at home. We will win. I've never been more confident, even without Jim.

Go Blue. I love this team, I love the coaches, I love the university, and I love this blog and majority of the posters here. At the end of the day, OSU may have accomplished its goal in getting an advantage on the field. What they didn't realize is how much they galvanized this team. Steel in their spines. Let's fucking go.

I'm having a hard time loving this university right now.  I guess for me it will all come down to who had the final say.
If it was Harbaugh - bet.
If it was anyone fucking else at Michigan who massaged this into happening, I'm never gonna get over this.

And, I'm totally prepared to never know the answer.  IF (highly unlikely) Michigan does this and the entire plan was to unleash "the binder," therefore absolutely destroying the BIG, then I'm obviously in.
