Sean Parker = Donovan Warren?

Submitted by MMarchingband243 on
Doesn't it seam like Sean Parker's recruitment is shaping out to look like Donovan Warren's did? Lets look at the facts. First, a lot of the recruiting sites were saying that Warren was a lock to go to USC, but he went to Michigan. Parker has both of them in as his favorites. The fact that he's a lock to either of the schools has not been mentioned(to my knowledge). Second, a little off topic, but they were both highly touted Defensive Backs comming out of Cal.

that you used "but" correctly. It should be used to show contrast. I think that either "I don't agree with your grammar but I agree with your sentiment" or "A little part of me wants to correct your grammar but I won't because your sentiment is what is important" is more appropriate. Also, shouldn't it be "I hope THAT this kid goes Blue?" I could be wrong.

You are wrong. The "THAT" you speak of is optional. If I said, "I hope you get everything you want for Christmas" or "I hope we win 10 games this year" or "I hope she says yes," are those incorrect sentences? Do I need to say "I hope THAT she says yes?" No. You made a grammar mistake (maybe a typo) and someone vaguely pointed it out. Don't get upset. FTR, he also used but appropriately.

I wouldn't have nit picked on the response except that he chose to point out the error. Hell, I'm an engineer. I'd be lost without a clerical assistant. This is a sports forum, not a literary social network. Typos and grammatical errors will happen. My response was meant to be over the top. However, I am absolutely right about the use of but.

I mean if he comes to michigan i hope he would be better than warren was. I like warren and think hes a great athlete with untapped potential, and i hope he reaches in in the NFL. With that said, as highly touted as warren was coming out of high school, i expected him to be more productive at michigan. I understand that injuries hampered him, as well as 3 different systems in 3 years. Not to forget less than par players around him, especially within the secondary. I expected (im not going to go as far as saying #2) a marlin jackson/leon hall type producer out of him but, i don't think he made as much impact as those type of players. Maybe my outlook would be different on him if we won more games, or played in more big bowl games. Parker would be a great late christmas gift for big blue. GO BLUE.

Actually Warren got thrown on quite a bit. Keep in mind, that inexplicably, Warren often had safety help over the top while the other side was left fend for itself. While certainly M's best DB and a huge loss, he did not live up to my hopes anyways. M has a solid history of first round CB's and I think Warren could have been, he likely won't be. Good but not great I guess sums up my feelings about Warren.

Donovan Warren committed because USC and Michigan were in a battle for two players, Ronald Johnson, the former Muskegon standout, and Warren. Warren came to michigan because USC got Johnson, These players both had USC and Michigan in their top two so when one decided to pick USC the other picked Michigan, sort of a interstate swap agreed upon by carrol and carr, according to a recruiting source,.....word on rivals is that michigan is a top Parkers list as he has expressed he would like to leave the state of california, but USC is USC and that could be very tough to turn down i think that Cal is a non factor. But god knows we need all the help we can get in the secondary, i think this Carvin Johnson could be a real sleeper, does anyone know any new news on Latwan Andersons recruitment?

Incorrect. Both UM and USC wanted both Warren and RoJo. I don't have any idea where in the world you got that there was some "swap" agreed to by Carroll and Carr, that isn't even remotely accurate. English visited Warren in Long Beach, got some great vibes that Warren was coming, and then he immediately flew to Muskegon and was denied access to RoJo because USC had corrupted his recruitment. And Latwan isn't coming here.

what makes your statement true and mine false, your just a blogger like me, and its not a lie, or some crackpot story, (good movie reference with ferris bueller) whos your source that says there wasnt, and i didnt say that it was a literal swap, like lloyd and Pete Carrol called each other up, that was just how the recruitment turned out. Or maybe just explain to me how a michigan kid like johnson just goes to SC and SC the best program on the planet arguably at that time losses a five star prospect in there own city?

I'm not exactly sure about the story but from what I've read is that RoJo's mom was really passionate about him not going to Michigan. Apparently she blocked all communication from Michigan. It got so bad that Ron English ended up saying a few things to her that he might want to take back.

The story's been told a bunch of times, verified by insiders from several different sites. RoJo told the Michigan coaches he was coming more than once. An insider at Rivals was there when he committed to Michigan's coaches in the weight room. On his visit to USC, his family, who at the time was pretty poor financially, managed to help themselves to a day on the town on Rodeo Drive. When they returned from LA, Michigan suddenly found it very difficult to get in touch with RoJo. As I said, when English returned from visiting Warren in SoCal, he attempted to visit RoJo in Muskegon, and was denied entry to the Johnson residence by a man who was not related to them, while RoJo himself sat inside and did nothing, because the situation had been taken out of his hands. When Tony Annesse (former Muskegon head football coach and friend of Michigan) tried to step in and set up a meeting between RoJo and Michigan's coaches at his high school, RoJo's mom caught wind of it, stepped in, and pulled RoJo out of school. The dead period hit, there was no more contact, and RoJo committed to USC at his church, while he and his little brother wore brand new suits and his dad talked about how he felt like he had won the lottery. That's what happened. There was no swap. No agreement. No nothing. USC came into our state and because they fear no reprisal from the toothless institution known as the NCAA, they did whatever was necessary to take the star player away from us.

Thanks man for setting that straight, and yeah carrol is a crook, but i think the even bigger crook is in columbus that effin sweater vest aint foolin me i mean, look at the way the basketball team is pullin recruits, some major booster help is going on, that was the one thing i respected with lloyd the most the way he did it by the book always, just like bo, the true michigan men! I assume i get negatative points because of ridicoulous comments, im not trying to always be in the negative, and better post will come!

It's actually not entirely untrue. What happened was Lloyd and Pete Carroll made a $1 bet on what happens when a kid from CA is moved to MI and a kid from MI goes to CA. The issue at hand was whether instinct/nature or climate played a role in behavioral and physical conditioning. In the end, RoJo and Donovan Warren, sensing they were being exploited, teamed up to take the coaches down. And this is the real reason that Lloyd left, Michigan had 2 bad seasons, and USC didn't make a BCS bowl this year. Sorry can't tell you how I know this but it's crazy, I know.

"Warren came to michigan because USC got Johnson" Warren did commit to Michigan 3 days before Johnson committed to USC. You make it sound like Johnson went to USC and then Warren was left on the outside looking in and then had to reluctantly go to Michigan. Do you honestly think Carroll would turn down a 5 star CB like Warren? Especially if he was already thinking of Johnson as a WR.

Not only are they both from Cal, but they are both from parts of LA very close to each other (LB and Harbor City). Donovan was much more hyped, top 25 player. If Sean Parker is as good as Donovan, I'll be happy.

I am just not sure about Warren being truly awesome. Maybe I am a pessimist, but I only think of him as good. Parker could be just as good. Better? Hopefully we see!

I agree. I like the kid and think he's good but I don't understand why everyone is saying that they wish that Sean Parker can hopefully be somewhat as good as Donovan. Hell, i'd be much more happy if he was as good as Shazor or a Marlin Jackson. Donovan has talent, no doubt, but he wasn't exactly an All-American in our secondary the last few years. P.S. "Let's look at the facts" - the OP. There were 2 'facts' you listed and the second was that they were both DB's from CA. Okay...

I suppose from what I have seen of his style of play, Turner is more similar to Woodson than Warren. If Turner is able to perfect his cover skills while maintaining impeccable ball skills, he could actually be more similar to Woodson than anyone could have imagined.
