Scouting Houston - Game Thread

The funny thing is, that's really when this board started hating James. A few people disliked him over the TTU thing, but it was really when he kept talking about Hoke as the right guy for the job during last year's bowl that he became a source of outrage. Of course, he ended up being right on the money.
December 3rd, 2011 at 1:32 PM ^
Houston got a lot of momentum right now.
December 3rd, 2011 at 1:33 PM ^
Houston - 75
S. Miss. - 21
December 3rd, 2011 at 1:34 PM ^
Houston still is a suped up Toledo.
December 3rd, 2011 at 1:36 PM ^
Looks like there are maybe 200 So. Miss fans there, and their team seems to be falling apart.
December 3rd, 2011 at 1:37 PM ^
OK. Spoke too soon!
December 3rd, 2011 at 1:38 PM ^
I fell victim, too.
Nice defenses we have going here today, eh? Wow.
December 3rd, 2011 at 1:54 PM ^
These defenses are giving me flashbacks to last year. It is very GERGian.
December 3rd, 2011 at 1:36 PM ^
This game will turn into a rout quickly. Houston will end up winning by 21+.
December 3rd, 2011 at 1:39 PM ^
I was just checking the specs on the end line for the rotary girder...

December 3rd, 2011 at 1:37 PM ^
This game is like watching every Toledo game, no defense, huge offense... 21-14 USM
December 3rd, 2011 at 1:39 PM ^
We would dismember Houston on offense, and as long as we rush three and drop 8, we'd shut them down. Could be a bloodbath.
December 3rd, 2011 at 1:43 PM ^
But I believe GMatt would at least slow them down. That is all that needs to happen for a Michigan blowout win.
December 3rd, 2011 at 1:44 PM ^
Desmond Morgan could play D-line for Houston...
December 3rd, 2011 at 1:46 PM ^
He stole Denards "we're hungry" thing
December 3rd, 2011 at 1:49 PM ^
Denard was not the first one to do it.
December 3rd, 2011 at 2:12 PM ^
To believe you.
December 3rd, 2011 at 1:47 PM ^
WHOuston! BURN!!!!!
December 3rd, 2011 at 1:49 PM ^
In case anyone stopped watching, the bball team has let 10 points come off their lead. Still not ulcer inducing, but the lead is down to 10 and we have started turning the ball over and playing ole defense.
December 3rd, 2011 at 1:53 PM ^
was that by So Miss before half? I guess they want the 17 million. Probably got paid a visit by the enforcer.
December 3rd, 2011 at 1:56 PM ^
Looking at Houston's schedule, I don't understand how they're ranked #6. I remember past Conference USA teams that went 12-0 (Tulane & Marshall) in recent years that faced the same level of horrible competition and they were never ranked this high.
December 3rd, 2011 at 2:34 PM ^
They've been crushing teams lately and Keenum's getting a lot of press which helps. But #6 is definitely a stretch.
What's strange and maybe kills of that first thought of mine is that they're #8 in ELO but #16 in Predictor. You'd think the big margins of victory and lousy schedule strength would have it the other way around, but those close early games with bad teams aren't helping them any.
December 3rd, 2011 at 2:34 PM ^
Case Keenum's stats are sublime and he has some Heisman buzz and reasonably high name recognition among CFB fans.
In some way similar to Colt Brennan's Hawaii team making it to the 2007 Sugar Bowl: a record-breaking quarterback froma non-AQ conference often can propel his team higher in the rankings than they deserve to be
December 3rd, 2011 at 1:55 PM ^
WOW. Muchie Legeaux is starting for Cincy.
December 3rd, 2011 at 2:01 PM ^
Come on, Houston! I want a fat holiday turkey for the Michigan team to feast on.
December 3rd, 2011 at 2:04 PM ^
Iowa State and Kansas State are playing in miserable conditions. It's raining and 44 degrees. Ugh. I'll take snow anyday.
December 3rd, 2011 at 2:38 PM ^
Those conditions remind me of the 2008 UM-Northwestern game. It was so cold with that rain snow mix. I definitely feel for the fans in the stands at the KSU-ISU game.
December 3rd, 2011 at 2:49 PM ^
Edit: My first ever double post. I blame it on still shivering from the game I referenced in the first post.
December 3rd, 2011 at 2:24 PM ^
Just when I thought Houston was gonna tie it up.
December 3rd, 2011 at 2:25 PM ^
Didn't see that one coming. On a side note, I like Southern Miss' uniforms a lot. Those flat black helmets are legit.
December 3rd, 2011 at 2:26 PM ^
Blocked punt, carried in for a TD. This game is turning ugly. Heard so much about Keenum but it looks like is having trouble with the pressure.
December 3rd, 2011 at 2:31 PM ^
So say Michigan makes the Sugar Bowl, who would be the opponent if houston loses?
December 3rd, 2011 at 2:34 PM ^
TCU or maybe Okie St if they lose
December 3rd, 2011 at 2:54 PM ^
TCU would be an automatic if they make the top 16, which they probably would if Georgia loses tonight. That would give the Sugar Bowl a choice between TCU and West Virginia.
December 3rd, 2011 at 2:32 PM ^
Time to nut up or shut up for Houston.
December 3rd, 2011 at 2:33 PM ^
Craig James is unimpressed with nontraditional punt formations. Craig James also [allegedly] has bloodlust wrt prostitutes.
December 3rd, 2011 at 2:33 PM ^
Just when I thought Houston was going to get back into it.
December 3rd, 2011 at 2:33 PM ^
If Houston Loses will they drop out of the top 10? and Michigan move up? giving us a better chance for us to get a BCS bowl game?
December 3rd, 2011 at 2:33 PM ^
Wow keenum intercepted.
December 3rd, 2011 at 2:34 PM ^
Most posts ever about a Conference USA game. Also, this game feels like watching Northwestern playing Nebraska, except I think Nebraska is better than both of these teams.
December 3rd, 2011 at 2:35 PM ^
I think Northwestern is better than both of these teams.
December 3rd, 2011 at 2:34 PM ^
How is it that TCU ends up in the Sugar Bowl and not Boise State? Can you not be a non-AQ qualifier if you dont win your conference?
December 3rd, 2011 at 2:35 PM ^
The auto bid for a non qualifier only applies to conference champs. Boise State could be an at large though.
December 3rd, 2011 at 2:36 PM ^
why would TCU be in the sugar bowl? They wont get an at large bid and neither will Boise unless houston bombs out and doesnt make a comeback
December 3rd, 2011 at 2:47 PM ^
That BCS projector that was posted here around last week says it's TCU's spot if Houston loses, and Craig James made comments that seem to suggest they're next in line. I'm in the same boat as you, I don't see why it would be them.
December 3rd, 2011 at 3:45 PM ^
...if they finish in the top 16 and better than any of the AQ conference champs (the second part of that is a given--there's no way WV passes them).
December 3rd, 2011 at 2:35 PM ^
Wow..... Houston is a paper tiger if there ever was one.... Or, should i say, paper cougar?
Denard and Fitz would utterly destroy this horrible defense and you can see that their offense wilts when it gets hit with a consistent rush. Van Bergen and Martin n the line with Mattisons improvising and masking different LB and safety blitzs.....
