SB vs LSU in WS Semis: 3:30pm on ESPN
I am starting this thread a little early but I wanted to break down our opponent today: LSU.
LSU is 52-13 overall (15-9 SEC). They were in the top 10 USA Today most of the season; including several weeks at #1 after taking 2 out of 3 at Florida. LSU took 2 out of 3 from both Kentucky and Tennessee this season. LSU lost 2 out of 3 to Mizzou and Auburn as well.
LSU is a power hitting team led by Bianka Bell and Bailey Landry. Bell is hitting .421 with a whopping .802 SLG %. She has 18 HR and 73 RBIs. Landry is hitting .429 with a .571 SLG %. She has 2 HR and 26 RBIs.
LSU will score runs but their weakness is their pitching. They are led by the duo of Allie Walljasper and Carley Hoover Walljasper has a season ERA of 1.84. She has 96Ks and 30 BBs. Hoover has a season ERA of 1.63. She has 171 Ks and 69 BB.
The Tigers Pitching will give up some runs but it will not come easy for us. We need to continue to perform as we have most of the season. If we get some good and timely hits, the Megan will only need to have a good, not great game to win today. However, if Megan struggles like she did on Friday, then the offense will need to kick it into the next gear. My guess is that Megan comes out on fire and the bats keep popping.
PREDICTION: Michigan 9 LSU 4.
Disney puts $100mm per year into the Big Ten's coffers, and it's about to be a whole lot more.
SECSPN is in bed with the SEC on a network.
B1G is not.
Heads up play by Sweet there.
Alright lets go

Blanco gets away with one ... probably should've been called out on strikes, but gets the walk. Bases loaded for Ramirez.
Strike 3

the 1B Umpire. Tera clearly swung at that pitch. We will take it.
We got a break there, let's take advantage of it
Sorry, used the wrong thread there. My fault.
We got away with one there.
Gotta take advantage of breaks...
Holy cow the LSU fans are obese.
Pop-out ends the threat. We've gotten through the line-up once, though - this is where we lock in. Betsa needs to lock in as well, and we'll be fine.
2-14 in the WS before 05? Jesus...
It's not like anyone from this region is/was any better.
Michigan is the undisputed top program in the Midwest because of that National Championship.
It's remarkable that Michigan is what they are and have been for a long time and that goes to Hutch and her staff.
"Her tools are unbelievable." I concur.
Contestant: What are, metaphors used in softball but not in baseball?
Alex: Correct!
Error on Romero and now Betsa falling apart again... smh
Ugh ... Betsa was cruising, and then bang, bang - error and a HBP. 2 on, 2 out.
Man, nobody's sharp early on this afternoon.
Damnit Betsa, FOCUS!!

that was close.
Phew - slow roller to Betsa, she fields it well - no damage done. Top of the order coming up!
command of this game. LSU is not winning, we are losing. We are not playing to our standards.
Insightful. Are you a big softball fan or something?
He is - and he's right. It's not panic time, but it's fair to point out that we haven't been at our sharpest thus far.
Yeah, he's watching UM softball games and giving recaps from early in the season, when most of us are focused on basketball and recruiting. So ease up...
