that’s awesome. i mean, i think we’re gonna need a kicker and / or punter.
start working that leg, mikey!
December 5th, 2022 at 8:01 AM ^
Not to worry. Coach Harbaugh is lobbying Michael Barrett to return for his fifth year.
December 5th, 2022 at 6:18 AM ^
Wow, that is huge! The D is going to be awesome again next year.
December 5th, 2022 at 6:59 AM ^
There’s a few insiders who are reporting Erick All is indeed entering the portal. So you might have to take all those negs back.
December 5th, 2022 at 7:28 AM ^
NEVER!
December 5th, 2022 at 8:15 AM ^
Rumblings of a few others as well, as if they are going with All. I can only assume it would be a few wide receivers. Is this team Cade vs Team JJ or is there other reasons for them leaving? It’ll be interesting to see if there is any actual reasons given.
December 5th, 2022 at 9:27 AM ^
Was there any credible rumblings outside of posters on an Iowa forum?
December 5th, 2022 at 10:08 AM ^
One guy loosely linked to people inside the team.
December 5th, 2022 at 8:45 AM ^
Captains leaving the team before their season is over...wild.
December 5th, 2022 at 7:08 AM ^
Krikey, Mikey!
Great news.
December 5th, 2022 at 7:08 AM ^
My thinking is this is at least in part a NIL decision? Sanistril and 2nd year Johnson and 3rd year Moore... That's a hell of a back field.
December 5th, 2022 at 7:41 AM ^
Doesn’t Woodson have another year of eligibility?
December 5th, 2022 at 8:10 AM ^
YUGE.
December 5th, 2022 at 9:04 AM ^
I figured he'd be getting some kind of NFL buzz with the season he had, is he just too small for the league? I don't get this, but I'm thrilled with it!
December 5th, 2022 at 10:51 AM ^
He's an all-around marginal athlete -- by NFL standards. He's not a monster in terms of speed, quickness, size, or leaping ability. He gets abused by more physically talented receivers, not that there are a lot of them in the B1G but they fill up the NFL, so I don't see him stealing the hearts of NFL scouts.
He's a very, very good college player that can fill a lot of holes in your defense by being asked to do very difficult things (like replace a 1st-round NFL slot corner in a single offseason). Unfortunately he has obvious ceilings that are rarely exploited at this level; those will be repeatedly exploited in a world where everyone is a physical freak of nature. Down here he's a bona fide four-star athlete, very intelligent, and plays with a ton of heart. If you don't make a perfect throw, he'll PBU a tight end twice his size.
The way that PBU put him on the map, he might make more NIL money than NFL money. It actually makes sense for him to stay another year.

Thanks for the response. This is exactly how I hoped and expected NIL would change the game.
December 5th, 2022 at 9:18 AM ^
Next year's team is going to be absolutely sick.
December 5th, 2022 at 10:56 AM ^
Oh, no. You saw how OSU did when they came down with the flu.
December 5th, 2022 at 9:23 AM ^
Name a bigger Michigan Man -- I'll wait
December 5th, 2022 at 10:56 AM ^
Jeremy Gallon?

I love Mikey Sainristil. Just ordered his jersey after hearing this news! He is a tremendous leader and his experience on both sides of the ball and being a 2X B1G Champion is such a blessing for our program. Him coming back is HUGE.
December 5th, 2022 at 9:48 AM ^
That is huge for next year’s team. I’m so thoroughly impressed as the transition he made to defense this season.
Another one like it next season, and he will add some very good credentials to his growing NFL résumé.
December 5th, 2022 at 9:51 AM ^
Hell yeah! Love this guy, he and Bell seem to be the glue of this team that keeps them running for the same goals! Mikey is the guy who recommended the jersey changes (All Blue, Blue/Maize pants for away games).

I had to click through the embedded tweet because "The following media includes potentially sensitive content"
It does if you're a Buckeye!

They better give him all Big ten next year. What a travesty he was left off team.
December 5th, 2022 at 10:46 AM ^
Nice! As Harbaugh said, he's got that dawg in him. That PBU was probably the best play I've ever seen in real time in a very important moment of the game. I think I've rewatched it a hundred times. Just an incredible play in terms of athleticism and having the smarts to try to make a play on the ball instead of hoping to tackle him out of bounds or push him out.

Hail Yeah!
December 5th, 2022 at 11:09 AM ^
Sainristil is quickly moving into the list of my favorite Michigan players ever. Guys like Brandon Graham, Denard Robinson, Mike Martin who were not only very talented, but were also very important to the culture of the team and played above their circumstances.
December 5th, 2022 at 11:36 AM ^
Anything that results in that kid being a part of this program is a good thing
December 5th, 2022 at 11:43 AM ^
We are very fortunate to have Sainristil returning. Thank you , Mike for what you've already done this year.
Go Blue!
December 5th, 2022 at 12:46 PM ^
This is OUTSTANDING news for next year. He was such a revelation at nickel. We love his leadership too!
Thanks Mikey!
December 5th, 2022 at 1:56 PM ^
Yes sir!

I don't know if "Mikey", as Harbaugh loves to call him, is high level NFL material but this young man has the goods to make a living within this game as a coach. His thoughtful, insightful articulation is mesmerizing. Clearly, he is a young man of high intellect and character. He is the definition of "glue".
