Rutgers vs Michigan Tickets just released

Submitted by UESWolverine on

Rutgers just opened up all of their football tickets for single game sales at 9AM this morning. They are dynamically priced so there are a lot of tickets available but the Michigan tickets are way overpriced. It's actually not that much more money to buy season tickets and sell off the tickets for the other 6 games. With Penn State on the schedule, you should be able to make most of your money back.

We will fill that place with maize and blue. If they are struggling to sell tickets our NYC/East Coast Alumni will scoop them up.

I doubt they'd notice. College football hasn't been big in the NY-NJ-CT tri-state era since Army three-peated the national title in 1944-46.

And after someone out there figures out that all but one of Michigan's national titles were won while wearing leather helmets and wire facemasks, they're going to wonder why in hell the maize-and-blue people are so damned geeked up.

Maybe because it's a rivalry game, I guess.

You think Rutgers will "struggle" to sell out the Michigan game?

The last time Rutgers hosted Michigan, the Knights won. And now they've got a former Buckeye lieutenant as head coach.

They won't struggle to sell tickets.

Bought mine months ago!  We're staying in NYC this time around rather than New Brunswick and will make a long weekend of it.  I highly recommend this trip for Wolverine fans.

FWIW I WAY prefer to sit with fellow Michigan fans in the cheap seats versus sitting with opposing fans in good seats.   Done both many times and for my money the gameday experience is far more fun when you win when you're with friendly's.

100% agree. I had always sat in the Michigan section for away games until last year's Minnesota game where I had 50 yard line seats with no Michigan fans around me besides the person I went with. It's just not as fun and I felt like I couldn't get hyped up about the game as much.

You just need to channel the dark side (aka act like a buckeye fan) and have fun no matter where you are sitting.  I agree it's way more fun to celebrate with other fans and slap lots of high fives, but I'd slap my own hand if I had to in celebration.  Of course my tune might change if I was in the toilet bowl or in EL.

Baseball is the exception.  When I lived in DC, I would go to Baltimore when the Tigers were in town and always had a pleasant experience.  Baseball lends itself to more in-game conversation so you'll either love the person you're next to because the conversation is engaging or you'll hate the person because they want to sound like a know-it-all.  I've sadly encountered both.

Depends on the stadium.

At Rutgers there will be so many Michigan fans dispersed throughout the place, it will not matter.

Same thing happened last year at Maryland (we did not sit in an offical Michigan section, but still were next to at on of fans).

Even last year at Penn State, we had good seats in the regular section and lucked into having a row full of Wolverines right behind us. (although I think that's dumb luck)

I think the "sit in Michigan's bad seats" logic only applies to hostile stadiums/environments (i.e. not Rutgers).

We sat in the club section at Penn State last year. There were zero Michigan fans in our entire section - and a whole family of the most obnoxious Penn State fans in front of us - dancing around after almost every play and continually changing seats. That win felt even better sitting near those people. They were so disappointed. It was no South Park Scott Tenorman tears of unfathomable sadness - but it was awesome.

yeah but in some places, even then is not safe. You gotta walk to the stadium and i'll tell ya, the one time i went to spartan stadium i was afraid to even use the restroom. Then there's all kinds of stories about the barbarians in columbus attacking quadriplegics and so on

but if you're going to NW or rutgers or maryland, places with little football support, i would sit anywhere except with students of the other team

Anyone know if the prices could be cheaper closer to the game...on Stubhub or something? I never bought tix to an away game but now I'm about an hour away from Rutgers so I figure I should go. Btw I'm poor

They most likely will drop a few days beforehand but you'll still have the stubhub fees to deal with. It'll also be more difficult to buy more than one ticket. I've done both buying ahead of time and waiting. In my experience I prefer to have it taken care of and not worry last minute , but there will definitely be deals. FWIW this is their premier night game so tickets will be expensive no matter what, and similarly to UConn a few years back, it's a small stadium and there's many east coast wolverines so demand is going to be very high.

My friend and I bought ours through U of M about a month ago!

Can't wait to take over New Jersey on the field, just like we've done on the recruiting trail.

... from the stadium and the final stop will drop you off in front of the College Avenue gym. The "birthplace" -- where Rutgers defeated Princeton in 1869 -- is the parking lot out in the back of the big brick relic, which was the home court of the 1976 men's Final Four team.

And try not to get hit by a car while you're "striping" the parking lot (birthplace). Spaces are at a premium and they whip their vehicles around pretty good out there. It's not like the midwest.

Those tickets will sell like hot cakes. Rutgers is Michigan's biggest rival, apparently.....

That game will be hyped up for weeks around their campus. There will probably even be some obnoxious fan/player that goes and plants a NJ flag at midfield before kickoff, as to make some kind of statement saying the state belongs to Rutgers.

Harbaugh will get a good laugh out of it, make some pre-game statement to the commentator about how he loves the enthusiasm of those youngsters, and will then proceed to humilate, debase, and overall, kick the living crap out of that entire team in front of it's own fans. I'm thinking something to the tune of 48-10.

Rutgers-Michigan is like one of those old nostalgic rivalry games, like something involving Navy, the University of Chicago, Bowling Green, Yale, or Notre Dame.

Both programs were at their respective peaks at the turn of the 20th century. One national title between the two of them since 1950.

Be sure to wear your fur coat, straw hat, and wave one of those fuzzy pennants on a stick.

I was going to write a post mocking the OP by asking when tickets for an away game against another insignificant team would go on sale.  To my embarassment, there aren't any other insignificant away games.

Rutgers is insignificant.  Can we please stop making them into something--including a source for our amusement?  Why?  BECAUSE THEY ARE FUCKING RUTGERS.

Why would you mock my post? I currently live on the East coast and plan on going to this game. What's wrong with sharing information from a direct source? Especially one that isn't a secondary ticket market. I did the same thing with Iowa because I plan on going to that game too. I could be looking at this wrong, but I don't care who the opponent is, I'm just looking to go support my team and want to share that information with people who share in my enthusiasm.
