Rutgers fires its offensive coordinator
The replacement is Nunzio Campanile (from that Campanile family), who was the interim HC when Chris Ash was fired.
The move was made in an attempt to jump-start the program's struggling offense, as Rutgers ranks No. 108 in total offense (334 yards per game), No. 104 in scoring offense (22.8 PPG) and No. 118 in team passing efficiency. Rutgers is 3-3 and 0-3 in the Big Ten after failing to score in the second half against Nebraska in a 14-13 loss Friday night.

They had an Offensive coordinator?

They had a coordinator that was offensive.

Word is that they're targeting Brian Ferentz.

Actually, it seems more striking that programs like Rutgers are firing coordinators midseason for producing offenses that are *better* than what Brian Ferentz has put on the field. Those statistical rankings are bad, but they’re better than Iowa’s.

…Programs like Rutgers that likely don’t have the offensive talent to be much better. Rutgers (now fired) OC has a track record of producing with teams that have talent.

Most of the state of Iowa is considering taking a targeting on Brian Ferentz

Gleeson's problem is that he has the wrong father.

Yeah, that will fix the problem.

They're a healthy Vedral away from probably beating Nebraska at least. I'm not clear how the OC can help that they've had to press a QB into service who's supposed to still be in HS. Way too often these guys get fired just because the HC needs to show he's "doing something," regardless of whether that something is productive.

It's easier for a HC to fire the OC than himself.

Amen. Scapegoating knows no limits.

Is it just me, or are coordinators getting thrown under the bus at a record pace this season?
I kind of want to start tracking which head coaches and coordinators get fired, and have a game where we award points to the last team they played. IE points to Eastern Michigan for getting Herm Edwards fired at Arizona State. More points for getting a head coach fired than a coordinator, obviously.

HCs are just paying it forward before their own time comes.
Early signing day and transfer portal have had weird, extended unintended consequences.

Not to mention the hyped-up media attention and social media platforms screaming for success at all costs...

yes! someone with google doc skills should make some sort of public tracker!

Rutgers’ new OC can make all sorts of problems disappear. He also has a truckload of flat screen TVs at a 75% discount if you’re interested.

Problem solver, for sure. He could also partner with you on your restaurant or sporting goods store.

Are you sure his name isn't Moltisanti?

"coach nunzio campanile" is the most rutgers thing i've ever heard, and i love every bit of it.

Is he part of the Corleone or Barzini family?
October 10th, 2022 at 11:50 AM ^
It was Barzini all along.

At least he didn't get fired the same way they fired Moe Green.

And we’ll expect to see the Ferentz firing later today?
