ROSE BOWL ENERGY STARTING TO GROW!!!
The Michigan Marching Band warming up.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcwHTKR65mA
The weather: I'm watching the locals sitting on the Rose Bowl floats. They are bundled up as we would be here in Michigan when the temp is in the teens. Watching for the MMB to march in the parade.

The game referee:
"Ahead of this evening’s Rose Bowl Game, Alabama fans have uncovered that head referee Mike VanderVelde, who got his start reffing in Grand Rapids, Michigan, once ‘Liked’ a post about Michigan Basketball beating OSU from 2014."
I'm trying to be fair and not want an "advantage" by a Michigan born ref, but.... ;)
GO BLUE!!!!

Bama fans already blaming the refs shows they’re worried!
January 1st, 2024 at 1:21 PM ^
Michigan-biased officiating in the Rose Bowl is something I’ve never seen. I have seen Charles White score by fumbling at the 2-yard line. I’ll take a fair and well officiated Rose Bowl any day if we can get it.

Speaking of bad Rose Bowl reffing, I'll never forget the non-call when Woodson was tackled before he could intercept a pass on WSU's final drive on Jan. 1, 1998.
But who cares, we still won. Let's do it again today, boys!
January 1st, 2024 at 2:11 PM ^
I was there and screaming at the refs for that one, Charles wasn't tackled so much but pushed in the back pretty hard by the WR to allow him to catch the ball in the first place and the WSU coach Mike Price was bitching after the game about not having another second or 2 for another play, SMH.
Beat Bama and no matter whom we play next week will be a rematch next season.
January 1st, 2024 at 2:36 PM ^
The worst part is the ref even pulled out the flag to make the call, then just didn't.
January 1st, 2024 at 3:59 PM ^
This. Only needed “Charles White”.
January 1st, 2024 at 12:51 PM ^
After what we survived the first part of this century I don't care if the perceived advantage is Alabama realizing the sky is Blue and that the corn in their fields is also known as Maize. Just win, Go Blue!

Beautiful Day! Go Blue!

Grand daddy of them all!! The pagentry, the history, the build up, the show!! Can’t thank this team enough for getting us to be a part of this again!! Who’s got it better than us!!
January 1st, 2024 at 1:02 PM ^
Did I miss the MMB in the parade? I started late.
January 1st, 2024 at 1:04 PM ^
Know they probably don’t have DVR yet in Ohio!!!
Happy new year!
January 1st, 2024 at 1:21 PM ^
The MMB was featured in the within the first 15mins. Before the cameras panned to the MMB, you could people yelling Go Blue. It was great!
January 1st, 2024 at 3:29 PM ^
Was watching the parade on tv when the MMB came past the reviewing stand and played Hail to Victors. You could clearly hear the crowd singing along.

Vegas line just moved from Michigan -1 to Michigan -2.5 . What Vegas know ?
January 1st, 2024 at 1:54 PM ^
I'm not saying I know for a fact, but usually when public money comes in heavily for one side, a bunch of sharp money comes in late for the other side. I think something similar happened when ND played Bama in the Championship and the heavy majority of money was coming in for ND at like +14 and the line held for weeks -- then a ton of late money came in on Bama on game day. It was like 21-0 Bama in the 1Q.

Ahh..the old Brent Musburger "we've got to talk about something else to keep it entertaining" game.
January 1st, 2024 at 2:40 PM ^
Is that the game where he was talking about the girlfriend of Bama's QB?
January 1st, 2024 at 3:07 PM ^
While that is true, the juice has changed in the other direction. Bama plus 1.5 was -105, Now Bama plus 2.5 is -115, so the actual movement, taking that into account is something less than 1. To get that extra point you are getting slightly worse odds.

About time we get a home cookin' ref
January 1st, 2024 at 2:41 PM ^
Remember that time in the College Football Playoff when the refs took away a clear-as-day touchdown from us? And then we lost by six?
Yeah that sucked

There was no Game Day Weather so for those of us not in Pasadena today, the weather is turning out great with morning clouds giving way to plenty of afternoon sun and milder temperatures.
Remember that game kicks off at 2:10 local time so it looks to be mostly sunny and low to mid 60s with a Northeast wind around 5 mph. High will be in the mid 60s, before halftime with a continued light wind.
Given all of the TV timeouts, the game will end around 5:30 local and the sun sets at 4:54 PM local so the temperature will drop back toward 60 with light to calm winds.
The normal high is 67 and the normal low is 45 which it was in the mid 40s this morning, explains why the local were so bundled up.
It will be a Maize and Blue sky over the Rose Bowl due to the clear weather. Ideal for football and ideal for a big Meechigan Vicotry...GO BLUE!! (now back to regularly scheduled programming)

My family got a kick out of watching Dad get wildly geeked watching this.

Too sexy for a shirt. Apparently.

It's nice to have Carl Grapentine back. For those who didn't know, he accidentally tripped the day of the Big Ten Championship game and injured himself, breaking 4 ribs. He had to stay in the hospital for 4 days in Indianapolis and couldn't announce the band at the game.
So happy he's at the Rose Bowl.

January 1st, 2024 at 2:02 PM ^
I’m here with my bro, Michigan fans outnumber Bama at least 3 to 1.
BET, LGB!!!!
January 1st, 2024 at 2:07 PM ^
I expect him to compensate in the other direction. It's the Michigan way.
Also, don't care.
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I've already begun pacing about the house....
At least for now, I am getting steps in.
January 1st, 2024 at 2:38 PM ^
The crowd is 70-30 Michigan fans in Pasadena.
January 1st, 2024 at 2:42 PM ^
Well Michigan hasn’t been to the Rose Bowl in approximately 248 years so that doesn’t surprise me.
Really wish they could AI a Keith Jackson call for this game.
January 1st, 2024 at 3:28 PM ^
If there's not at least one 'Whoa Nelly' drop, the broadcast director should be fired.
January 1st, 2024 at 2:44 PM ^
in line with the 'energy starting to grow' sentiment, many people who pay attention to such things know that the 'pro' bettors (aka 'sharps') are often among the last to lay their money down...
"UPDATE 2 P.M. ET MONDAY, JAN. 1: Three hours pre-kick, Michigan has advanced to -2.5 in BetMGM's College Football Playoff semifinal odds market. That's up a point from the -1.5 flat/-1.5 (-115) the line has been at since Dec. 7."
January 1st, 2024 at 2:52 PM ^
Buddy of mine got offered a free ticket out in Pasadena. Kinda wish I went but... It's a long way from Virginia the day before school and work kick back in. He's not even a football fan. But he's going and promised not to wear red
January 1st, 2024 at 3:31 PM ^
I just realized the game is on ESPN. The one day of the year when I regret cord-cutting.
January 1st, 2024 at 5:12 PM ^
LETS FUCKING GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
