Reminder: 42-27 Michigan-Ohio State

Submitted by waittilnextyear on April 27th, 2022 at 9:07 PM

I saw a post that said maybe it was time to forget about the win, set it aside and stop mentioning it.  But, I say nay!  I fear some people are beginning to forget, and I think it's more appropriate to celebrate the glorious 15-point win by the Michigan Wolverines, a better college football team, over the Ohio State Buckeyes, an objectively worse college football team.  This game took place on November 27th, 2021 and was played in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  Exactly five months is a long time to remember something.

So, just in case anyone forgets, that score once again was 42-27.  Michigan with the 42 points.  The contest was won, by rule, by the Michigan Wolverines football team, based on their having 15 additional points compared to what Ohio State was able to produce over 60 minutes.  It was akin to one of the teams scoring 2 additional touchdowns, adding 2 additional PATs, and then somehow adding an additional point on top of all that excess.  Or, it was like the two contestants began tied, but the Michigan side earned an 6 additional safeties and a field goal from that point forward.  And the reason I say that is because 6*2 + 3 = 15 and 15 just so happens to be the exact difference between 42 (points scored by Michigan) and 27 (points scored by Ohio State).

Let us commit this score to memory!

It's football and it's important to remember that at osu, guys that enrolled for the 2020 season have never beaten Michigan.

That's 3 classes of recruits, with how many guys there that go pro or transfer,  that leaves a pretty good percentage of players, like 60+ players of the 85 scholarships.

I believe they had a real mental advantage prior to 2020, hopefully that will aid in us having that edge, these things matter, we shall see.

That's my favorite part about beating OSU at home: waving good-bye to the fans who drove their semi-trucks and rusted Chevy Chevette's all the way from the deepest depths of Ohio. These fans have to contemplate their season-ending loss to Michigan not only on that long miserable drive home across a flat and meth-infested wasteland. Oh, no. Nope. Their funk lasts for the entirety of the holiday season and the miserable winter ahead. And the summer brings no solace as they serve us frozen bananas and elephant ears at Cedar Point.

Nothing they do in the bowl game can take the "lost to Michigan" taste out of their toothless mouths. And to me, that's the most delicious definition of schadenfreude.

42-27 Forever.

If you really, truly saw a post that said we should forget about this and move on, it had to have been from an OSU fan.  Otherwise, you need to link that post so we can all give it the attention it deserves.

How dare you, sir or madam!

(here's the post that caught my eye from the Garrett Wilson-Rich Eisen thread)

Anyone else feel like it's time to stop gloating about our 1 legit win in 2 decades. I think it makes us look foolish.

I was at the 'game', it was magical. But time to let it go. Now if we can win this year in CBus and that will certify it. Then we can gloat as back to back wins means a little something.

All the gameday ritual to dress up, paint the face, put on his lucky beads.  He took the time to put the weed stickers on his helmet, he made the little vodoo doll thing..  None of it helped.

Hey, thanks so much for the reminder! Are there, perhaps, collections of video footage of this event available on internet video viewing services, so that we might be able to refresh our memories?

it was snowing that day.  very cold.  don't know how they were even able to play.  should have cancelled the game.  and ohio was a little pookie with a cold.  totally not their fault.

Wolverines put end to Buckeyes' streak

weren't you scared for the players.  one of them was so scared he nearly jumped out of the big house.  twice.

This was a great selling point to the six recruits that came to Michigan’s Spring Game.
