This sucks more than stars not playing. I hope they can play the game. Wonder what the policy is if the game is cancelled ? Looking for poncho now and praying.
Yeah, my wife and I are going. I'm expecting this thing to be a rain fest all day. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets shortened or cancelled all together.

Yeah I am going. Parking will be a bitch. If you see a loud and obnoxious drunk guy, it's probably me.
Or me.
Except I live in central Florida, so you'd have really made a wrong turn looking for Big House parking.
I'll be there. I think it'll only get cancelled if there is a thunderstorm.
right according to schedule. 60% chance of thunder each and every hour of match. 30 minute delay after each strike.
I'll be there. If the wind shifts north or even north east, we could be ok. The field is going to be in awful condition. I hope they covered it overnight.
How's the tailgating scene?
This game is not happening. Thunderstorms a-plenty near the stadium. I'm betting that the game is cancelled.

Your forecast was spot on.
It's pouring, thunder is booming, lightning streaking across the sky. We've been looking for rain for over a month now, but why does it have to come today?!!
Fast kicking, low scoring, and ties? You bet!
Open wide for some soccer!
For us and about to head out into the rain
Maybe we'll just end up tailgating and drinking all day when/if it gets cancelled
It has been dry as a bone all month in Ann Arbor and today is a monsoon...oh well Go Chelsea Blues!!!
Zzzzzzzzzz.......
Don't be a fuckhead
Zzzzzzzzz........
Don't be a dick.
Nah, this is pretty close

Like I said don't be a dick. You don't see me shitting on basketball, which I believe is boring as hell.
I'm with you man, it's all I can take to watch a full game of basketball.
There are......
Go blue!!!
You give handjobs in exchange for expired pickled herring.
Hope the rain holds off. Wouldn't want to miss the b squads duking it out. Meh...

my kids to exhibition tennis matches that featured some of the world's best players. Prices we're high but effort was 50% at best. I imagine soccer would be the same. Probably with early subs that rarely see the field in EPL matches.
But..... enjoy.
top clubs have a lot of competition. Some guys are fighting for starting spots.
yeah just like nfl preseason, and it's hard to give a shit about that either
I plan on still going.

Wasn't planning on going but tickets are cheap on Stubhub and the family is out of town. Thinking about heading over to find a cheap ticket due to this weather
You should be able to score a ticket for 20 dollars or less.
Is it on TV?
ESPN I believe
We're going! Just got off a 18 hour shift, should be a good time. Rain or shine, let's have some fun!

Was hoping to see some authentic euro soccer hooligans but none to be seen so far . /s
FYI Michigan closed the golf course for parking. Good luck out there
I parked illegally by the hospital. Someone was kind enough to knock over a no parking sign for me

HA Adidas
Is the stadium even big enough for a soccer field? I thought they were different dimensions.
Soccer fields are wider. I think I read somewhere that this is what prevents Michigan Stadium from holding official matches.

I win there was a way to expand the field so they could play meaningful matches.

it's a problem for a lot of stadiums in america. Those that were put forth for the final world cup bid offered to remove a few rows of seats. Michigan Stadium was actually on the preliminary bid, and got removed from the final list either due to refusing this compromise, or for other reasons
The only college football stadiums that had enough room for a FIFA soccer pitch were Stanford and the Rose Bowl. That's because of those stadiums at one point had an athletic track around. The Rose Bowl was a track cycling venue for the 1932 Olympics.

Not sure if the link is going to work, but from a 1990 issue of the Michigan Alumnus, discussing the 1994 World Cup committee coming to Ann Arbor to scout locations:
http://books.google.com/books?id=NwDiAAAAMAAJ&pg=RA4-PA16&lpg=RA4-PA16&d...
Pertinent quote:
"Michigan Stadium would need to be modified however to meet World Cup specifications. The field would need to be widened and the AstroTurf replaced with natural grass. One conceivable way of doing this would be to raise the field with scaffolding and cover the first eight rows. Of course the field would have to be removed in time for our American football season."
Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to attend. I have 4 tickets that want to give away, I just ask that you use them and not try to resell them. They're section 3 row 26. Email me at [email protected] if interested!
