More background info about Falcon. He's already on the recruiting trail and may end up as a five star if his senior season goes well.

The same service that has already stated he'll be a 5 star with more carries and a healthy Senior season. He's certainly closer to a 5 star than a 3 star there.

When anyone who reads this sees your arrogance building as your argument crumbles. And make no mistake it was pure argument and typical magnus one upping someone over minutiae-- which in this case you are dead fucking wrong.

Isn't his current ranking more reflective of his injuries rather than his talent? So it stands to reason that he could make a larger than normal jump up the ranking by 1) proving he's healthy with no lingering concerns, and 2) having a huge year.

His current ranking is reflective of whatever the various sites think of him. I mean, I can't really tell you what the various scouts who have seen him think of his talents. Personally, I ranked him highly, I think he's the #3 player in the state, I like him, etc. But I have no say in the star rankings.
Yes, he could make a large jump. But that's not really the issue here. The discussion is about whether he's closer to a 5-star or a 3-star. And the FACT is that is only the case on Scout, while he's closer to a 3-star according to ESPN, Rivals, and 247 Sports.

You seem like a tool!

will ignore you.
I thought we were going to miss the "Merits of Magnus" argument this year, but 2015 did not dissapoint after all.
April 14th, 2015 at 10:46 AM ^
Didn't Ace mention that ESPN hadn't updated their eval since prior to his Junior season? ESPN would seem an outlier if so irrespective of their rating.
April 14th, 2015 at 11:33 AM ^
If you remove the outliers and leave it to 247 and Rivals, he's a middling 4-star outside the top 250.

stars dont matter huh, I'll take the coach's word for it...
Reading comprehension, try it. Funny how with every comment Magnus has made, he's gotten more downvotes and less upvotes. However, his argument has remained the same the entire time, and hes supported his argument with facts. The other poster is cherry picking. He's taking into account only one of the services that supports his argument. Magnus is taking into account ALL of the services. Had the other poster said, " he's closer to a five star than a three on at least one of the services," fine.

Yup, you are right. I had an edit explaining my idiocy but couldnt save it in time. The original comment that started the argument wasn't as descriptive as I had thought. Im sure any recruit we get with even one 5 star ranking would be referred to as a "5 star recruit" by many on this board. So if he does rise up to 5 star according to scout, that's it. You didnt say, "composite 5 star" or "consusus 5 star." If Magnus disagrees with people calling recruits "5 star" with only one service backing it up, then that's a different argument all together. So, I will take my lashings now.

That's not really the whole story. The "rankings" (which is the term I used initially) tell us that Matt Falcon is closer to a 3-star than a 5-star.
Out of the term "rankings," somehow it devolved into an argument about Scout alone, which is silly because there are four recruiting services and even a handy 247 Composite ranking.
I don't really even know why I'm discussing it, because it probably seems like I'm down on Falcon, which I'm not. I actually rated him pretty high. But it's frustrating how words get twisted and massaged.
Personally, I think it's dumb to call anyone a 5-star recruit unless it's a consensus thing (all four sites agree) or unless the 247 Composite tells us so (all four sites' average). I mean, I don't think of Shane Morris as a 5-star recruit just because Scout told us so; Rivals, ESPN, and 247 Sports all had him as a 4-star guy. When referring to recruiting, the more data points, the better. In Morris's case, as an example, Scout seems to have been even further off than Rivals, ESPN, and 247.
Well, I've got no dog in the 5-star/3-star fight. I would say a very old eval is an outlier. I wouldn't just remove scout because they have him 100 spots higher. That's not really an outlier kind of difference. Each recent eval is equally reliable (or unreliable). It's clear he's a 4-star and a very good prospect. We'll see if Allen's prescience is valid this year.
Check the points versus the join date. Obviously a returning troll.

Yes and no. I figured he would have by now, but his dad said that he wants to be 100% sure about the decision to flip because he wants any decision to be final. Considering he has 10 months to decide, I think it's a good idea to be certain before he rushes into anything.

Time.

I believe the poster is referring to his actual rankings. The jump to a 5 star would be greater than a drop to a 3 star. Not sure if that makes sense or not.
I'm a Falcon alumnus

that Mike Hart was a consensus 3 star and was considered undersized with decent 4.5 speed. Star ratings don't always translate to college success. Wondering what percentage of HS stars actually become 5 star college players? I would guess 20% ?

you know, top players. Winston, Mariotta obviously type players. On Michigan right now, not sure we have anyone that would be considered a "college 5 star". The top 30-40 players in college football - type of player.

But here's to Harbaugh returning them to that status.

I'm sure Dantonio has already called a meeting to inform his players about the atmosphere of disrespect toward his- er, their program that Jim Harbaugh fosters among high school juniors who have yet to attend a Michigan practice or meeting.

let's beat MSU and have some good seasons before we start tossing things like this around. We've been pretty irrelevant the last 7-8 years.
