The ranked teams Harbaugh has faced on the road have never lost at home: 45-0 and counting

Submitted by bo_lives on October 20th, 2019 at 1:31 AM

2016 OSU went 7-0 at home.

2017 PSU and Wiscy both went 7-0 at home.

2018 ND and OSU both went 7-0 at home.

2019 Wiscy and PSU are both 5-0 at home this year.

Quick reminder that Michigan's previous coaches had road losses to Rutgers and Illinois

It’s a dumb thing to keep citing his record against great teams on the road.

Nobody wins those games.  We dismantled PSU and Wiscy last year at home.  Home field is everything in college

I wish people would stop with the salary talk.. So if he made 2 million, you would be ok with the loss?  His salary is his salary, none of us are paying it.  If you think you are contributing to his salary in some way, stop.  Michigan can afford it. No one else better is running to Michigan for this job that is any better.  Plus Ward is not going to have two new unproven coaches in his highest grossing sports within the same year or two..

No one ever bothers to break down those top ten teams we lost to. First, half of them are literally Ohio State. One was the MSU fumble bullshit, one was fsu without peppers and Butt, road games against PSU and Wisconsin teams that won NY6 bowls, etc. Would everyone be happy if we beat a top ten Minnesota team that starts 10-0 because they don't play anybody? It's a ridiculous stat that people think says more than it does

Speaking of harrumpf harrumpf

It is only rational if you agree with it.

Harbaugh is underwhelming. NOBODY here thought the team would be floundering about like this after five years.

BUT what fits your narrative is whatever justifies Harbaugh.

Keep it up--and remember--a lot of the better coaches capture something great early on and sustain it. If Harbaugh has a plan to do something wonderful, it had better happen quick.

I know the disappointment is on the fans, they are the ones who bought into the mystique, who kept saying STANFORD UPSET USC! SUPER BOWL! QUARTERBACK GURU! PUT THAT TOGETHER WITH THE MICHIGAN BRAND AND WATCH THE EFF OUT EMM EFFER!

And no, it is not like Harbaugh came in here swinging his big coaching you-know-what being brash and quiet. No. He came in humble, went to work quietly, and set about building a winner.....

I feel conflicted by this. He's had awful luck and terrible officiating in his biggest road games, not to mention going up against some crazy good squads in those games. But on the other hand, he's had some pretty incredible luck go his way against some not great teams. Definitely should've lost at Minnesota in 2015 if not for a bizarre decision by an interim coach. Took some miraculous plays to beat IU that year too. Dicked around and needed overtime to beat IU two years later. Got down 17 at NW and needed an absurd comeback. Definitely feels like the luck is not evenly distributed. Probably should have some losses to Indiana and Minnesota, but definitely should have at least one more win each over MSU and OSU. In retrospect, I think people would gladly take some upset losses in exchange for wins like those

How do you explain the ugly bowl losses then? Both teams are on the road in a bowl- but we are the one that gets blown out.

We’re 0-16 in our last 16 games on the road vs top 15 teams. Tom Brady was our QB the last time we beat a top 15 team in the road.

Yeah, they’re hard to win, but there are coaches who win them. Urban Meyer won serval. Heck, Mark Dantonio has like 5 or 6 top 15 road wins at MSU.

PSU was a very beatable team tonight. I thought they were overrated going into the game and I still think they’re over rated. Close isn’t good enough.

Yeah, they’re hard to win, but there are coaches who win them.

Which coaches? Saban, Dabo, and Urban Meyer? They're the only coaches I know of who win those games reliably. Yeah, Mark Dantonio beat Michigan and OSU on the road in 2015. But in order to do so, he had to use some kind of satanic witchcraft that in hindsight seems to have been the last drop of the cursed black magic he built his career on.

A certain percentage of the group here loves themselves their moral victories and seriously tries to trot out stupid shit like this just to prove that we are the Moral Victory National Champions every single year.

I’ll never understand.

it’s like some of you would rather lose just so you can beat your chest about how hard it is to win fucking football games.

You would rather win your gold medals in mental gymnastics trying to convince the rest of us that Jim really is the best coach in the country, it’s just the B1G, the refs, the football gods, the fans, the away stadium experience, Chris Fowler, Hoke’s  recruiting, Rich Rod’s recruiting failures, the players’ parents - literally ANYTHING else is the reason he loses games except  Jim himself.

I’ll save you the time - Jim is 1-10 on the road against Top 10 teams because he isn’t any good. He is overpaid and passed his prime. The Jim Harbaugh went to the Super Bowl and fucked with Pete Carrol, and slapped Schwartz on the back, and won football games retired the day after the OSU game on 2016.

This guy on the sideline is just a fraud.

Here come the excuses.  In the end, you have to WIN on the ROAD against ranked teams.   You can play the moral victory card - your choice.  We still lost.  Great to elite find ways to win some of these games. Michigan does not.

I don’t care we are Michigan and we need to win some of those games. Maybe if we come out ready to play in these games we might win some. Can’t keep getting behind big early in games. 21-0  last night. Is just one example.
