Random thought: Helmets

Submitted by goblue12 on

Did anyone else notice how the helmets were all scraped up? I cant remember any other opening game in which the helmets weren't tip top shape and all shinny and stuff.... Is this part of the "toughness" type mentality Brady Hoke wants to instill in this team? Maybe its a way to psyche the opposing team out... Either way I thought it was odd.

go to OSU/tSiO sources to find the 1974 OSU game, but that's what all the helmets looked like in that game. For me, it looks more like football.

On a sidenote, was anyone else bothered by the block M on the top of the player number on the back of the jerseys?  Seems really out of place and just another way for David Brandon to push the marketing.  For me, it really ruins the classical clean blue uniform.

I'm not in love with it, but I doubt it had anything to do with Brandon (people are going overboard, assigning him credit/blame for everything).  It's almost certainly Adidas's doing.  The apparel companies want to change uniforms every now and then to compel fans to buy new ones.

I'd be fine if they were on the pants, they don't really matter.  It's just that it's literally right above the name put in a space not really designed for anything to be there.  It just looks so out of place.

What?  Helmets/jerseys are scraped up after every game.  Not a new development.  If helmets arent scuffed up after a practice then you aren't practicing hard enough.

Biggest development of the day for me:  There is now advertising in Michigan Stadium.  Marathon Oil and StubHub ads on the columns inside the concourses.

Saw a bunch of people standing befuddled taking pictures of it with iPhones and such.

I give it two years before those migrate inside the bowl, whether we like it or not.

On a side note I cannot for the life of me understand why any player would wear anything other than a Riddell revolution, xenith or schutt ion. In no way shape or form are any other helmet safer or lighter or more comfortable.
